    Is there significant Ground Effect with gyroplanes? Could this be used to improve the fuel efficiency over water and increase range?

      Hi Robert, the ground effect would be the same as a helicopter with the same forward speed and characteristics. The only issue is that to remain in ground effect, you have to stay close to the ground and if there were an engine failure, you would not have time to find solid ground to land unless the gyro was already on floats, which are available for these gyros. These gyros usually get anywhere from 5-9 GPH depending on conditions and their average flight range is about 4 hours with reserve. Most people would usually want to land for a pitstop prior to that anyway.

      @@AdventureAir Thanks for the detailed reply. I was checking out some videos on electric model Ekranoplans with LIDAR-controlled altitude adjustment....and I thought " I wonder if the Gyroplane might be able to use this technology?"
