My number 1 choice is a technic sl 1200
What are your thoughts on the sound burger 2023 or the VT-E BT?
Hey Jarrett I have a question it's not related to the video but I recently got a new vinyl and the first time playing it out the package a part of the song skipped and I thought it was wierd so I played it through again, now the part of the song had a verse that was sang 3 or 4 times throughout the song and on the same part on each verse it skips have you ever heard of something like this? Was that intentional by the record company or is my vinyl just scratched?
first turntable i got was one of those crosley briefcase ones, within the first day there was skipping and speed inconsistencies on brand new records so the next day i got a refund for it and got myself an audio technica instead
Did you? Great. All those suitcases are no good. An LP60X is the beginners turntable to go for. Fit an elliptical stylus on the tonearm, you have super high fidelity for not too much money.
@nitrosophelin I’m glad you upgraded to an Audio Technica LP60X. My sister first had a Crosley suitcase record player but I gave her an Audio Technica LP60XBT and she likes it so much better
100% would wager the skipping was caused by the queing lever fulcrum.... sometimes they don't go down all the way this can cause skipping. It's almost always the reason.... and that can happen on more expensive turntables as well.
@@lauracorbett4577 Yeah, of course. The LP60X is miles ahead of those suitcases. The needle it comes with is a conical. Good quality, nothing wrong with it, but it can be upgraded to an elliptical which is the next step up to higher fidelity.
I'd like to see a review on one of those over-engineered $5,000 - $10,000 turntables to see what it is that they do that something like a Fluance RT-85 can't. Certainly the manufacturers would happily send you some to show off whatever it is they do.
Most probably the tonearm is better designed (less bearing friction, better tracking, etc) and has better wow-flutter and SNR ratio. But I'd imagine it's not a night and day difference and it's probably not worth the money
For starters, it will last longer and sound better. Go to a hifi shop and listen to one. Although, they probably won't be using your speakers or amp or even phono pre-amp (if you're not using a seperate, you're messing up), so it will all sound much better than your current setup, not to mention probably better speaker placement than what you have as well... making the whole experience of just listening to an expensive TT hardly comparable for you to even comprehend compared to your setup. Will it sound $10k better than yours? Doubt it, but WILL sound better than what you currently have letting you hear and experience sounds in the recording that you currently aren't capable of.
Very kind of you Jarrett, for giving your sister a genuine shout out!
A trait of a "bad turtable" I learned from this channel is one with a cheap, short, PLASTIC tonearm! I had to point this out to a family member who got a free vintage MCM stereo cabinet a few months ago. He's using it as living room furniture, and the radio works, but I told him NOT to put any vinyl in that thing. He listened, thank goodness! 😊
It mainly applies to modern turntables. With vintage ones, if it’s a record changer, those are fine as long as they’re properly maintained. The tension spring sets the tracking force on those. I actually have a late 60s/early 70s Lear Jet console with a heavily upgraded changer.
@@ct1660 Oh ok, thanks for the update, I'll let him know! It didn't come with a stylus anyway, so we haven't tested it. We'll probably get someone experienced to look at it in person as well. Thanks again!
I think they're just fine as an entry level turntable, maybe its all someone can afford, like anything you can buy a better one when you can afford it. They don't ruin records they just won't play to their full potential, that is all.

@@largevaporbut here's the thing: crosleys aren't as catastrophic as many see them to be, and in the context of the comment, they aren't AWFUL.

Hello, I need guidance, I have been interested in vinyls for some time and I want to buy my first turntable, now unfortunately I have a tight budget so iam going to buy the teufel dt 250 and I want to know if it’s a good turntable to start with, thanks
I recieved a suitcase player for my 18 birthday, and over the years it sounds mid, but eventually i modded it so that it can used a magnetic cartridge and i put a 3 gram weight on the tone-arm so it would be balanced.
If you're broke like me and can't afford an audio technica, feel free to use your cheap players as long you earn more money to buy a better player. And also please keep cleaning your LPs so that the needle won't pushed dirt and dust into the groove and damaging it.
Question please I have a audio technica lp120x USB and as far as I'm aware everything is set correctly but when I set my count weight after every so often it keeps moving it seif to more weight then it should and I don't know what to do
Hi can you give your opinion about auna TT-Play PLUS Turntable as a budget option for first turntable?
HI Jarrett I have just listened to Taraha's album. She is very good. Will it be available on Vinyl?

Hi! Is the ION TTUSB05XL recordplayer good? Thank you for your help
Hello, I have a question about turntables. I bought an ION LP Max wood turntable 5 years ago and I have been using it ever since. I plugged it into a high quality amplifier and then to high quality Bose speakers. Is this a good setup or should I consider buying an Audio Technica LP 120?
It'll be worth it for the possibility of using a good cartridge alone
What do you think of the sound burger turntable I've been seeing it a lot and I was thinking about getting that for my first turntable
I've heard the Cr*sley Mafia is looking for you 🤣🤣
Congrats to your sister! Will definitely add to my playlist!!
One thing you forgot to mention here are those red ceramic cartridges that come on these cheap turntables. If you see a turntable with one of those, chances are it’s crap.
It’s usually the case, the only exception is the PT-01 for current offerings as those use authentic Japanese CZ-800 carts.
But don’t be fooled - the MG09 magnetic cartridge also uses a red stylus.
If the cartridge body is silver, it’s an MM cart. If it’s black, it’s the CZ-800 knockoff, unless it says “JAPAN” in the backside of the cartridge.
@@ct1660The MG09 is basically the Numark Groovetool, right?
@@ZeusTheTornado correct
@@ct1660 Ah, I've been reading about these. They sell non-branded copies at Aliexpress for around 15$. I planned on comparing a cheap modern cartridge to a good cartridge from 1958, to see which one sounded better. Finally I chose the AT3600, it's cheaper
Can anyone share their thoughts on the differences between the Fluance RT81 and RT82? I am purhcasing one soon and want to make the choice.
What is your thoughts on the new audio technica sound burgers?
If people use it more as a decorative item that also happens to play thrift store records (or tapes) occasionally the quality is just fine. It's also a great kids present where you don't have to fear they break it. But for serious listeners and record collectors you're absolutely right.
Great video, though do wanna highlight one line of turntables, which despite being portable, and having overbite, as well as being lightweight is still a great device, that being the Audio-Technica Sound Burger line of turntables. Though still, in general, lightweight, portable and overbite are still often things you want to avoid. Those suitcase turntables (e.g. Crosley Cruiser) all use the EXACT same turntable mechanism. So steer clear of any with that mechanism. It's got a very distinctive looking tonearm design and once you've seen it you'll be able to identify it every time and stay away from turntables with that mechanism. Also those red cartridges.
2:24 do you think turntables like the Sony flamingo or the AT sound burger is an exception?
Perfect video ,best explanation, and hopefully it'll convince my parents to buy me an at LP 60 turntable.
I actually have one of the bad ones you mentioned, but mine has no problems at all, it is an all in one, but I can turn down the volume of the built in speakers, and add my own using those red white and yellow cables I forgot the name of, and I had it for years now, and the only real "problem" is it's 1 rpm slower than when I first got it as a completely unexpected surprise gift from my grandparents, so I don't wanna get rid of it at all, even if I do get a new one, I wanna keep this one because 1. It's my first ever record player, so it's like my baby, and 2. It was a gift so when my grandparents pass away (god forbid🥺) I have the very first record player they've ever given me to remember them by, like a little thing that I can look at and go "I miss my grandparents so much🥺, I loved them"
“Long as I can see the light” - Creedence Clearwater Revival
What are your thoughts on the "8-in-1" and "9-in'1" products - the speakers are separate, and the record player sits atop/is built in to a CD player and a cassette player.
I just got into collecting records this year and have one of the suitcase-style ones, so now I'm looking to get something better for Christmas this year - and I'd love to have a CD player and ideally a cassette player as well, which is why these x-in-1 products appeal to me.
I know that a all in one turntable is going to destroy my records nonetheless but if I try to use headphones instead of the speakers and only play the records sometimes can I still use it without destroying my records?
Fantastic for your sister!!!! Hope she does awesome!!! Everything you said about turntables 💯 agree!! Spot on!
Nice video! I have a Music Hall USB-1 turntable, a Yamaha RX-V665 7.2 A/V receiver with a 7.1 Klipsch surround sound speaker system
Regarding the Victrola pictured in your video, there are line out ports on the back to connect it to external speakers, which eliminates the issue you described. I have heard of the tonearm being too heavy on those, but as I don't own one myself I can't comment. If it is too heavy, I suppose it would be possible to replace it with something higher quality, even if that would be a lot of work. That being said, it seems like a great little idea, but I'd have to buy one to see if it's actually any good. At the very least you can't deny its aesthetic appeal.
I have that one but everyone says that the Victrola damages vinyl records and makes vinyl records rare
When will Tarah be releasing her album on Vinyl?
I got a Teac all in one the sounds amazing the needle, great. Thankfully it hs an aux out so i have a speaker connected to it. Victrola on the other hand is a bad all in one.
I have to say, I’m not a turntable ‘connoisseur’ however, I have a fair few including the 2023 AT sound burger, and I have to say, that is quite a capable turntable
Could you give me your first glance opinion about the 1 BY ONE H009 record player?
integrated speaker and all in one label aside. because I'm gonna put external speakers on it if I end up getting it.
It has an Audio-Technica MM cartridge, counterweight, is belt driven and has a vibration dampening platter
I'm considering buying it. but I'm not 100% sure yet. I really dig the retro wood look it has. that's the main seller point for me.
Would love to hear from you.
Should be ok to use.
I'm glad I got an old record player and not these new products that actually end up destroying vinyls.
Do a tour of your room and your audio setup (if it has been updated in any way from the older video)
Your sister is very talented! Congrats!
My Panasonic "Triple-Take" SGJ-800 might be a portable "all-in-one"... but it's still worth having. Especially when you detach the speakers and upgrade the stylus.
And my old Pioneer PL-300 might be lighter than the "heavy" new belt-drive, "entry-level" models offered as of late... but it still outperforms them in regards to rumble, as well as Wow & Flutter. And costs a lot less, too!😁
Congrats to your sister 😊 on her album!
I got a crosley c62c is that bad?
If your record player sounds fine, doesn’t damage your records, over a long period of time u see no damage - then it’s fine and you shouldn’t care about the people having a heart attack about the brand. But changing the record player would be ideal :’)
I have a santon and I have had for little over two years and it’s great
I do have a cheap record player. Not All-in-one. Its on top of a 5 feet tall wooden cabinet. I connected it onto my tv sound system. There is no counter weight on the tone arm. But it still works fine.

I have several older all in one record player, but of the older generations. And one school record player and a different all in one older one. But solid and plays great.
Those use a tension spring to adjust the tracking force. The newer crosley-type record players don’t have any method of balancing the tonearm
The next thing you should look at are video discs of the vinyl type the conductive ones in cases CED and or VHD
what if I get an all in one, but use separate speakers? where I live, a decent Vinyl setup is quite expensive, and as someone who's just getting into collecting vinyl, the price range of these are quite acceptable.
ok but like- lets say you found a portable one in great condition at a garage sale for 5 bucks.... and its all you can afford- cause like... I got it- I have a speaker system hooked up separately, sure it's probably not the most top tier sound, but it brings me a lot of joy still.

I have vintage record players, and a vinyl jukebox. I decided to buy one of those Yellow Submarine ones made by Crosley. Got it yesterday and played it today. It looks nice for display. However it has already managed to ruin one of my records. Fortunately not a record of value.

Congrats on your sister's debut album! Hope she rules all the charts! ❤
The AT-LP60X and the Sony turntable uses a tension spring to balance the tonearm. Decent turntables.
And it’s actually not a tell-all sign of quality - looks can be very deceiving!
Absolutely right. The LP60X and the Sony are definitely where you begin. Their fidelity competes with higher end models, especially when you replace the conical stylus with an elliptical. LP Gear's carbon fidelity elliptical stylus was specially designed for upgrade on turntables like these. They track the grooves of a record with more precision, their more responsive, tracking each and every nuance curve more accurately. It's all over the place, extracting highs, mids and lows from a record which the standard conical doesn't achieve to the same level.
the only thing that is not good about the AT LP60 is that it does not have a counterweight where you cannot replace it with a different headshell and stylus. 😢

Last year I bought the Victrola. Had to send it back because the record player was off key. They sent me another one and it sounded "good".
Then it skipped on every record I played. I decided to weigh the tone arm. It was over 6 grams. So, no record on this player anymore.
I decided to keep it because I love the 50s look. I use a professional record player now and it's good. Better spend some more money for quality.
Inability to upgrade phono cart is another red flag.
Completely, I can't understand why the AT LP60/LP60X get so many recommendations
I have audio technica lp120 which i love.... i think there maybe least one exception of all on one turntables being bad ... lenco do one with 2 x 15 watts with 2 x 10 watts plus acts as bluetooth speaker.. i also hsve this and i was impressed. Was 150 from 220 so not as cheap as ya 3 watt plastic crap. Admittedly i bought a colour heavy plastic platter just to get better sound quality n dampen down a bit.

What is your opinion on all-in-one vintage console players? The entire setup built in to one cabinet, a piece of furniture all on its own, are they just a larger version of the suitcase style players due to the speakers being in the unit

There is a turntable named after a popular American food item that is portable. Why does this one get a pass as good when it has all the things that people say are bad?
I quite like all in one turntables
Stick with those from the 1970s and early 1980s. Those are easier to fix and are somewhat upgradable if you get the right model.
That red, plastic cartridge is definetely a red flag too. It sounds just terrible! I'd rather listen to 64 kbit/s MP3s for the rest of my life, than to a record played back with this cartridge.
Its a knockoff of the Chuo-Denshi CZ-800 cartridge. These suffer from QC issues and not only sound horrible, but are notorious for skipping and tracking issues.
The genuine ones from Japan sound far better, but has to be properly loaded in an input with at least 2.2MΩ.
So does that mean this cartridge is even worse than a standard ceramic cartridge? Standard ceramics sound OK for occasional use before the (usually) sapphire stylus wears out, but I never expected they could degrade on that 😆
Spot on assessment! I couldn't agree with you more. I currently use an AT LP60X-BT but am going to upgrade to a U-Turn Custom. Great show. 🤘🏻

The ‘overbite’ is such nonsense. My highly regarded SRT 605 (predecessor to the Beogram 1000) and Braun PC-3 have ‘overbite’ and they both sound great. Your overbite assumption is wrong. Overbite does not matter at all in most turntables since it only matters what the position of your spindle is on your turntable. As long as the spindle position is in the middle of your turntable then you won’t have any issues whatsoever when it comes to stability or sound.

What about older vintage record players lol.
I have a 60s styles voice of music suit case player, and a magnvox tube console record player. Basically, real record players not anywhere close to a crappy modern crosly.
Those are fine as long as its properly maintained.
@ct1660 Well, the turntables on them have been maintained. Believe it or not, the amps on those old players have never really needed any servicing except some replacement tubes about 10 years ago on the console unit. The Amp is still original still untouched, same with the suite case player Amp has never been touched, and they still perform perfect no loud hum / buzz either right down to the original power cords that haven't fallen apart yet.
They have, however, been kept in consoled environments all their life and have never really been taken out of service. I've owned the players for 20 some years now before that my grandmother had them.
The speakers in them are still original as well they even still have the original finish on them..
I'd say they have been well cared for and do get powered up on a regular basis.
That voice of music suits case player. I tell you what sure beats a lot of modern players even though it's just a basic player console unit that performs well, too.
The console unit has a collaro record changer in it still fully functional. I normally manually load the records, though.
The vm player is a single record player, not a changer.
