I think Paige's existence is a bit of confirmation of that. If Piper died instead of Prue after Shax' attack, Paige would have had the ability to freeze time instead. Also there have been episodes where we see Piper (eg S5 finale) or Prue (eg S1 finale) practically have premonitions like in their dreams and like they could foresee something ominous was about to happen. So yeah it's always been there in the show. They just gave it to us in subtle ways 😉

Meaning assuming time calls for it Piper could and so could Prue. This is why, in season 3 piper and Prue were able to vanquish Shad outside of the hospital. And also, when Cole was forcing piper to save pheobe and let page die (who was mummified) piper presumably tapped into the power of three and saved them both.
The Crone was so good! And for an almost silly (but fun!) episode these last bits were really creepy, definitely because of her. She should have had a cooler vanquish at least.

Like I said, The Crone was after knowledge. She could’ve just asked since she didn’t want to hurt Wyatt. The horror music was enticing. She even has the power of Energy Spark, that she used on the Kazi King. Witches have that power too. A fallen charge of Paige had it in the comics.
