Thank you! It was an amazing experience in probably the most beautiful country I’ve ever been to. I’m working on the next video. I’ve got lots of footage to go through.
Deedy Plus 3 TV my father-in-law actually lives and works there. So we just went over to visit him for a couple of weeks. He coordinated all of our travel while we were there. I highly highly recommend going to China. The people are so friendly and welcoming. And the country and culture is so beautiful!!
@@CaptDutNRedBeard ok thanks. Definitely on out bucket list. Thanks for sharing. We enjoyed watching yall walk 80 miles & showing us China. I heard Zhangjiajie is really nice too
I was going to ask the exact same question because my wife and I are planning a trip to China in the next year and I'd like the freedom of not being on a tour but I'm nervous about getting around on my own in spite of having studied Mandarin for the last two years. Glad I looked down in the comments. Great videos btw, I'll have my wife watch them to alleviate some of the fears she has as a result of watching SerpentZA and Laowhy86 LOL.
@@greghart99 thanks for the comments! Navigating the subway and high speed trains would have been very difficult and intimidating without the help of my father-in-law. He doesn't speak Chinese at all. But he has been there long enough to recognize street and city names to use the subway. It wouldn't be impossible to do without a guide. A lot of Chinese folks can speak some english. But I definitely felt better with help. I like the ADV China guys. But our experience was 100% positive. I always felt very safe and welcomed. It was a life changing trip!!
I’m glad you enjoyed our videos! I’m working on my Xi’an and Shanghai video right now. Hopefully it will be posted in a week or so. As far as money exchange, I was fortunate enough to not have to exchange any money in country. We were with family that lives in china. So they were our currency exchange. I will say that it was difficult at times without Chinese currency in hand. A lot of places didn’t take visa or MasterCard. The Chinese people seem to use WeChat or other apps on their phones to make purchases. But I believe you can exchange currency at the airport and at banks. Have an amazing trip!!!
I don't know if this will help, you can set up Alipay which equals to Wechat wallet. Any store in China will accept Alipay. Other thing you can do is this: www.tripsavvy.com/how-to-exchange-money-in-china-1495190
Yeah.... I tried Apple Pay. It didn’t work. And I wasn’t there long enough to set up a bank account and link it to WeChat. What about cash? How many centuries old is that? Because I used a lot of Chinese cash while I was there
China is very safe country. Hangzhou, Guangzhou, xian, hainan, xiamen, Beijing or Shanghai easily top the world in terms of safety. To my surprise, everytime the west list country or city in terms of safety, China is not among top 10.
Where is the Global Harbor Mall? Is it in Nanjing? By the way, one kid murmured, I am a little afraid of him...LOL Did you notice that it is very shiny around those stone animals necks? Do you know why?:-)
Hahaha! Poor kid was afraid of me? That’s hilarious. Thanks for interpreting. Global Harbor mall is somewhere between Shanghai and Nanjing. I’m not sure what city it’s in. But it’s on the road between those two cities. Closer to Nanjing, I believe. Please tell me why the stone animal’s necks were so shiny.
Capt Dut N Red Beard Because when I was a kid in the 80s, we loved to ride on those stone animals. I have been on all of them except for those standing elephants. My dad was not tall enough to put me up there. I guess that kids nowadays are more civilized and have better toys...
Is it just me? Had hard time listening to the speaking. The music and noise are at normal volume, but had to strain to hear the people speaking. BTW, I am a Nanjing native also, nice vlog
Jeff Wei it’s not just you. For some reason the background noise in a lot of the video drowned out what we were saying. I tried to clear it up. But this is the best I could do with the equipment I’ve got. Also, for some reason, it sounded better in my headphones when I was editing than it did after I uploaded it. Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching!
the kids must be encouraged back at the school to overcome their 'Asian shyness' to speak to foreigners in English so they could 'practise' what they had learned in the class, though saying hello to you folk might only shed some 'natural' 'Asian shyness', not much practice after all XD...!
My city and my people. Welcome to Nanjing. I hope you and your family had a great trip in China.

Very cool! There is no way you would have got me on that huge Ferris Wheel 🎡
It wasn't that bad!!! lol
Capt Dut N Red Beard I’ll take your word for it! 😱
Nice video and editing!
MS Liuuu thank you so much!! It was an amazing trip!
That's the tomb of ROC's first president you visited in Nanjing. People made a park in his name to honor his sacrifice for Chinese people.
Wish the ROC was still in charge.
@@michaeldengg nope, roc lose, take it....
Looks like a neat place. Would have loved to try the Ferris wheel
Good video! In fact,we chinese are very friendly .China has 34 provinces, hope yours can come back again :)
Welcome friends, wish you had a good time
Changzhou is a great city.
U guys were so cute during the departure announcement
Welcome
Sorry but I am happily married.
Holy macrel, it would take a month to get out of the airport?
fantastic
You may feel sometimes you just like an alien, people are enthusiastic because sometimes they are just curious about foreigners.
黃雪陽 and I was completely fine with that. I was happy to talk to them. They were all so kind
Won't happened in big city
Curious about what?

I do believe you can do it at airport or at the bank though they normally speak little English but it is enough for money exchanging.
Hope you like the heat
sorry we dont accept credit card from last century, you may try mobile pay app like wechat or alipay or even apple pay
