  • I've eagerly been awaiting my next challenge so on this day I decided to take on the mighty Elephant Hill🐘in Kenya's Aberdare National Park🏞which at it's peak tops out at just under 3700m.a.s.l🔝⛰ïļ.Last time I was at altitudes this high (3000-5000m.a.s.l.) it didn't end up well for meðŸĪ’but I've since been preparing mentally🧘& physically💊for another chance to redeem myself & regain my confidence again👍. This hikeðŸ‘Ģis rated extremely tough by many (who do it to prepare for Mount Kenya & Kilimanjaro) as you start at an elevation of 2500m.a.s.l.↕ïļ and traverse through rugged terrain that will really test your abilities mentally & physically. I managed to reach the 3500m.a.s.l.↕ïļ point of interest known as "The Elephants Tail" but due to time🕓& the weather conditions☁ïļwe couldn't proceed to the summit⛰ïļ, which would've taken us another 2km and 1hr to reach. I was a bit disappointed not being able to finish the hike having come this far😔, but was still super proud of myself for pushing my limits as breathing at this altitude was difficult from the 3000m level (though it was more the super steep↗ïļterrain I was feeling and us rushing to cover ground). I was able to use my smart watch⌚ïļto constantly monitor my SpO2ðŸĐļ& heart rateâĪlevels to make sure that I was still medically fit to keep goingðŸšķand my vitals were reading good✅ïļthroughout the entire hike👌. Looking forward to conquering this mountain⛰ïļ (and others) in future👊.
