This is a really interesting set of TK installations. I like how they have the big digital Arrow lantern above the elevator on the main floor that was cool
Oh my I really hate key-carded. When things are modded and key-carded. I really hate it but overt all love these. I love how they run very well and smooth. This is a nice key-carded though no complaints for that but the fixtures are still better and easier. This is not bad though but definitely not a huge fan of key carderd but love love these still.I miss the vintage ones instead but as I mentioned that sometimes mod is necessary to keep them operating and love love this hotel room tour with a stunning and relaxing views of the water.
Pretty Epic elevators! I've never seen that for ThyssenKrupp! R.I.P old OTIS! Makes me wanna go on a trip badly 😭 but I still don't have the money for a trip I don't think
0:27 oh my god. Never in my life have I seen this nor thought I would. I’m impressed with this. 2:19 neat. I’m impressed with this overall. I gotta stay here next time I go to Florida. 4:08 expired, yes. Amazing, absolutely.
Ya know, I think what they should do with those touch screen buttons is if a floor or floors are locked. They should just be greyed out so it tells the user that they can't go to that floor without a keycard. But hey, that's just me
Unfortunately, these types of mods are not awesome. they may look fancy, but accessibility leaves a lot to be desired. I stayed one night at this hotel on Friday, December 15, 2023, almost one year ago., The only accessible way to enter a floor was with this keypad under the screen on only one side of the cab. The interface was a bit clunky and took some getting used to. Fortunately, this is nowhere near as bad as what Kone thought would be a good design. Warning, somewhat of an accessibility rant incoming. On the Celebrity edge class ships, Kone installed elevators similar to these, which were coincidentally my second set of such elevators in two days. This system was basically like a destination dispatch panel, but on the inside of the elevators, and why they didn’t just go with a destination dispatch system here is beyond me. Instead of a keypad, the system Kone uses on Celebrity ships is just like a destination dispatch system, including all the flaws that come when the designers don’t pay a single care to nearly 20 years of accessible touch screen development. You have to press a handicapt button, wait for your floor group to be selected (either 2-8 or 9-16 in this case), then, slowly, wait, to hear, your floor, and press, the button, again. This can easily take 30 seconds, because apparently, at least acording to this design, a blind person can’t be expected to push a button in less than 4 seconds, so that’s how long it takes to cycle between floors. Unlike a destination dispatch system, and what makes the Celebrity Kone system even worse, the elevator doors stay open the entire time, and you basically hold up an elevator full of people in order to properly select your deck. Honestly, destination dispatch systems globally are nearly 2 decades behind the times. It is clear that no designers of such systems have any experience with accessibility, and as a blind person, I feel like a second class citizen every time I use a touch screen system, because i do not have access to the same rapid capabilities to enter my floor as everyone else. I would ask all companies involved to take a long an d hard look at Voiceover and other screen readers for phones and tablets, because here in lies the solution. Almost every blind person in the world is familiar with these systems, and the priciples I’m advocating can be easily learned then applied across the board. When you are touching the screen, an voice announces what you are touching. You can flick right and left to navigate between items. You double tap to select. Then, you can use a touch screen like a normal person and select your floor in 5 second or less like everyone else. Do you know anyone at any of these companies I could talk to about blind accessibility? Whoever is the first to do it properly will earn major points in my book. I would love to help teach people how accessibility could be properly done. The visually impaired and those in wheelchairs have vastly different needs. We should not be treated the same, we should not be forced to rely on others to use these systems efficiently, we should not have to guess where on a screen our floor is, and we should not be treated like second-class citizens. End of rant.
I agree that accessibility is a critical issue, and I appreciate you bringing it up. While tech is cool, accesiblilty needs to be taken into consideration.
Here’s what the elevators used to look like over a decade ago when Connor (musicfreakcc) filmed them. Back when they were OTIS modded but still had their disappearing indicators: th-cam.com/video/HYupmAosFoY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RU6Cehi5mb-oVkxA
I hope they're not SMART keyed because they can cause issues to guests trying to get up the elevator to their room. This is why we should stick with REGULAR keycards.
@@DieselDucy at least from the times i’ve been, i’ve tried hitchhiking but can’t access any other floor than the floor the person is staying on. I did get lucky recently and one car had a disabled reader, and these weren’t keycarded the whole day until a year or two ago.
