I'm a manager in retail and I'd hazard a guess that he earnt more from that one ad than I do in a year 🙃 companies can pay tens of thousands for instagram posts and this was an entire video devoted to one company...
I work at mcdonalds and get paid £6 an hour. Usually getting £43 a day. So yes he probably got way more

I’m so glad you’ve done this! It seriously wound me up! I’m a 22 year old student, working at McDonald’s to help support myself, my studies and help save for a future afterwards. It’s hard graft, a good pay but the hours are long, the customers are vile and you’re constantly told you have no prospects - majority of the people I work with are either students or already have degrees. He is incredibly out of touch, and I want to thank you for pointing out all of these points on a scale that you have. Major respect jack maate!

i work at McDonald's and i can tell you now that: they don't give you breaks until like 3 hours into the shift, boys don't have to wear hairnets unless their hair Is really long, you don't usually have to wear an apron, new starters are meant to have a "trainee" badge not just 4 dots, making fries is definitley not as exciting as he makes out, u would absolutely not say "all that" if a customer asks what drinks you have, employees don't usually have breaks in the seating are where the customers (we usually eat in the staff room), it's a lot more stressful than he made out but overall, the pay is good, it's not as boring as I thought it would be and it's quite easy to get the hang of. your welcome:)

@@hollie9656 the co-workers honestly depend on the place you're working but most of them are really nice, at your first shift the manager or crew trainer will probably just be teaching you the easy stuff first e.g. dining and register and they'll teach you harder stuff like drive-thru and cafe later on. You'll do great, good luck!!

A few of my friends worked in McDonald’s and they worked 9- 10 hours a shift (granted it was on the same one so can’t speak for other branches). And Atleast TH-camrs don’t have the drunks wanting to fight them cause their chicken nuggets are a 5 minute wait

I started watching TH-camrs around 2011 when the whole point of it was watching vlogs made by ordinary people your age chatting about their lives or making comedy videos. It was the relatability and normality of it that we enjoyed. The people who did well were the charismatic and funny ones, it didn't matter if they filmed their videos on a webcam with no lighting. And doing well on TH-cam didn't make you a millionaire, it was just a hobby. Nowadays most people who do well on TH-cam are already rich and can afford a fancy setup and/or know people already in the industry giving them a big head start. How things have changed!

I think your final segment is an incredible addition to this type of series. To really breakdown in a more honest way and putting comedy aside really helps your own image. Extremely entertaining, as always.
I worked at McDonald’s and had such an awful time. I was only 16 at the time, struggled with chronic self harm and as it was winter anyway, I wore a long black T-shirt under my uniform. I was pulled up for improper uniform and when I tried to explain why, the manager wouldn’t believe me until I showed her which obviously caused me a lot of distress. She then smirked when I showed her and then proceeded to say (very patronisingly) “awww is Little Lauren (that’s my name I know the account says dawn, it’s wrong) sad”. She then told other people that worked there. I was humiliated, I walked out. Yeah obviously this is quite a unique story but the reactions of the staff there made me feel very uncomfortable and the management system (who’s meant to support me) totally fucked up

I like the added structure where you change setting at the end and take a step back and give your (more serious) opinion, combined with different point of views. It also counter-balances the usually very strong feedback of the public on any 'scandal' which tends to be without nuance so nicely done Jack.

@@prinsyj the point is it's patronizing to those people, he was bascially proving how inept he is, showing they work so much harder than he does, while taking the same they earn in well over 6 months for just walking around for a bit and getting them to make him a meal. He acts like it's just fun and games, when this is there lives.
The lawyer analogy can work, but it would be more like the lawyer being in the cafe going behind the counter; talking about how it must be so great to work here, how lucky they are even compared to them, acting like there isn't some place that they'd rather be, while patting them on the head and then the manager comes out to give the lawyer a suitcase of money because he made a coffee and smiled for the camera.
Not to mention that mcdonald workers are definitely underpaid for the amount of skills they are required to have. They need to clean, prep food working with hot oil or other dangerous machines, work the till, deal with customers and often multitask and everything as quickly as they can. Mcdonalds could afford to pay them more but here they are trying to get kids to work there so they can pay their workers even less

When I applied for mcdonalds I had an application, a customer experience quiz, an interview and then a trial shift. I worked there during college and Uni and loved it.
Been listening to some of this guys podcasts and genuinely Jack is one of the most down to earth guys going about on this platform, multiple conversations where he’s been happy to be proved wrong and improved which is testament to his success. There’s very few people on this platform that behave like genuine human beings throughout their content and through the happy hour podcast this guy is for sure one of them (why I think he resonates with the likes of true geordie and Robbie etc.) because these are genuine guys trying to figure out the best way of delivering the most honest and upfront content to the viewers and for that I absolutely have to commend you. Fucking quality stuff lads, please do keep it up (not that you need me to tell you).. fucking nice one.
