- The Sony 24mm f1.4 Gmaster lens is a low light best. This lens is amazing for video, photos and awesome bokeh at f1.4. This wide angle lens features 11 aperture blades, Fast focusing is attained through the DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) focus drive system, compact lightweight design, Declickable Tstop ring and more. The 24mm gmaster lens has a 67mm thread size, and is comparison in size and weight to the sony fe 85mm 1.8 lens. This little lens has becoming my go when I want to shoot astro photography and use a gimbal for run and gun filmmaking.

Too bad he focuses much more on videography (and is great at it). I'm more interested in photography so I find his channel lacking in that matter and a big part of the videos are not interesting to me. I guess this is good for some, just not for me.

Sort of confused as to how he only has 10,000 subs. Cool to watch you actually putting in the work, hanging out of cars and doing those things. A lot of times we don't get to see the perspective of people that actually work with the camera equipment, as opposed to just making TH-cam videos. People fail to show how the investment can help you complete a job. Usually as just get some specs and a clip of some b-roll.

You apologized for not uploading as often because you’re focusing on client work, but the truth is you apply the gear, editing shortcuts, etc in the real world and then share them with us here...which I believe is far more valuable than theoretical knowledge. I recently rented this lens and used it on a video I recently posted. My video skills aren’t nearly quite as sharp as the lens, but I was super impressed with the lens’ performance, too.

not sure what I'm doing wrong with my sony a7iii, but your blacks are amazing, and I always seem to have noise in them, driving me crazy, low iso, properly exposed and just noise, grr, so jealous/frustrated too haha, great video, thinking of grabbing this lens.

Bro, audio on point!!! On top of that great review of the lens man, compared to the Sigma 24mm F1.4 ART I think having that on focal length on FF for low light and for some great shallow depth of field is soooo butter!

Hey yes the a6400 would be great! I would suggest the 16mm sigma 1.4 APSC lens, it's equivalent to this 24mm gmaster!

haha Josh is the man! I think you went the right way, I went telephoto first myself. I've owned a lot of primes in the past but sold them to get the zooms I currently own. That 24-70 is a beast for sure!
I have 8 Sony lenses (6 zoom & 2 primes), and not a single one is faster than f/2.8 😫 I want a f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens soooo bad although I don't think the 24mm would be the most used focal range for me.
Lane McCall I totally feel you, it’s all situational! My go to normally is the 16-35gm or tamron on the gimbal. This will come on perfect for low light and when I want a lighter run and gun setup!

In the beginning of the video. In the first cinematic sequence, What Picture Profile were you using and What Specific Lut did you use or did you do a custom grade.
Loved the video bro and cant wait to see how the Landscape Photography vid comes out. This lens is a beast. Please include some Building Photography too if you can.
I used HLG3 for the first sequence with the leeming input lut, then I manually graded it myself.

This is the set up i am looking at getting to make better videos. I just point and shoot with a GoPro on a EVO gimbal and make boring touristy videos. I enjoy making videos but i am starting from scratch, 100% noob but it is something i enjoy doing so i will be purchasing a Sony A7iii with the DJI Ronin-S with the G Master FE 24mm F1.4 and try to grow from there. Hopefully i can grow into making enjoyable content that people will watch and subscribe. This is the first video of yours i have come across, subbed :)

I glad you took my comment light heartedly as it was meant...I just ordered this lens but a bit worried about it not having stabilization for video,as I don’t use gimbals.I travel and just (now) make videos for my own pleasure and wouldn’t wish to carry a gimbal around.I have the Sony A7R 111 and other stabilised lenses..Would you recommend it ...Thanks.

What lens did you use to shoot this video. I like how you put an object infront of the lens, it focuses on the object then once you take it out the frame it focuses back on your face so fast. I have a zve10 and even when I turn in product showcase it still doesn’t do it for me :/ help!

The 24mm 1.4 GM and The 135mm 1.8 GM are GREAT lenses !!! So Sony keep those GM primes lenses comming... Wish for 55mm GM, 300 4.0 GM 400 4.5 GM and more... oh yeah and a macro GM without stabilizer !

Shawn Ng hey yes so any shots you see that we’re tight from the broll we’re using those modes and they worked out very well with zero issues when in 4k

If you're looking for something for both photo and video I would say 16-35, that gmaster is still one of my top go to lenses for both!
I'm Jason Anthony Ya I just got the Sony A7iii and I could get this lens or wait for the Tamron 17-28mm. Mainly shoot video only. I dabble with photo. Right now using an adapted Canon FD 28mm 2.8. Would you get the 24mm 1.4 or hold out for the 17-28mm? I really want the 24 as it’s my favorite focal length, but 17-28mm would be more versatile.
Paul Feinberg I’m in the same situation I’ve been waiting to see how good the 17-28 tamron will be & it’s price but the 24 1.4 is really catching my eye. I was set for the 16-35 but then figured I could get the 24 & 55 for the same price as the 16-35 & they’re prime lenses much better in my opinion.
mtm media that 55mm is amazing! I ended getting the Tamron 28-75mm, very versatile. I still have enough for either the new Tamron 17-28mm or the 24mm.....we will see what happens

Jason, I think you have done a fantastic job showcasing the low light capabilities of the new Sony 24mm F.14 GM. I liked the video and subscribed to your channel. Do you think the low light capabilities of the 24mm F.14 GM outweigh the 16-35mm F2.8 GM for outdoor low light video conditions drastically?
I do a lot of low light virtual walk tours with the 16-35mm F2.8 GM right now (Using A7iii body + Zhiyun Crane 2 Stabilizer). I usually set the focal length to around 17mm or 18mm to compensate for the Sony 4K video crop and Adobe Premiere software stabilization crop while still providing a true virtual wide angle experience. Despite being absolutely blown away by the 24mm F1.4, I am concerned it is simply not wide enough for my style of videos. I definitely welcome your opinion if you know any better alternative. Anyway I would greatly appreciate if you could check out my recent videos and provide HONEST feedback. Subscribe if you enjoy :)

Hey Jason, are you still using HLG. I know you used MAKE ART NOW's night profile for the vegas, but how do you like HLG at night vs the MAKE ART NOW's night profile
I am still using HLG3 for everything, Josh Yeo's low light profile I wanted to try out and I feel like HLG3 wouldn't do so well in really low light so I wanted to play it safe and go with something that has worked for others.
Does it work on the a7riii
Just curious with this video here are you using PP6 Hlg for the talking head portion? Skin tone is soft and I would like the same results. Mine look too harsh every single time.
Yessir! I've been using HLG3 for everything besides low light lately! If you have yet to check out my video on my HLG3 settings and grading definitely check it out! It legit my FAVORITE profile

@@GoProMeetsAeon I have the larger version, I love it for every day usage and use it every day for over a year now. It's held up very well, recently I've been looking at the Atlas backpacks for bigger trips since they hold way more. The 30L does get the job done tho!

The car scenes I was using my buddy Josh Yeo's low light picture profile, ISO varied between 1,200-6,400 depending on the scene. I stayed around f 1.8-2.0

have you used the sony 35 1.4 and would you replace it with the 24 1.4 GM ?
I have used the 35 before and I personally prefer the 24mm its way lighter and smaller, It also autofocuses better. With the super 35 mode you can get that extra crop on the 24 to get tighter shots like I did in the broll!
