Yes Rome. I remember when my husband and I was dating and we were house hunting. The house he loved I knew I couldn't afford if he was to leave so I said no. He was offended because he said I didn't have faith in us staying together. I had to explain how it was with my ex and when he got f'd up I dtruggled like hell and I vowed then that I would never be anywhere ever again where if things didn't work out I couldn't afford alone. And I dwelled that into my children as well.
I think that we are always talking about the money in relationships so I like how y’all added the compassion and the physical needs in a relationship because money comes and goes many times but you need someone who you know will have your back through all the ups & downs of life in general.

My simple answer would be: As a couple wanting a future together, we are ought to bring our best selves, best attitudes, best mindsets, best states of emotional availability, best of anything we could offer to one another so we'd feel loved, satisfied, cared for and validated; mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and materially. But if you want to look at this as a 'Transaction-ship', then you will always fish around for the best offer you can get on that table, and let me tell you, with this kind of mentality.. Nothing, NOTHING will EVER be good enough!! There's a huge difference between a business deal and a lifetime investment. Choose wisely.
Perfectly said, but this answer is to much like right I can bet that once the show airs it will be solely about money cooking cleaning and surface level 8th grade mess but I’ll be here for it.
Without hesitation, I don't mind shoveling snow off my man's and my own vehicle. Our last big snow I did it---> His car was cleared and warmed up, ready for him to go to work. It's not expected of me. I just wanted to give him time to sleep in before he had to get up for work. He's done the same for me.
I just think that every relationship individually will have its own rules and ways of working BUT I feel like sometimes men be making poor choices or not driven enough and then choose to be insecure bc their woman can go out and get it! Strong relationships challenge you to be better so you shouldn’t feel anythin else but proud when she or you can bring something strong to the table and contribute to the relationship

Society has created wars in the household and tbh I think the black community is too far behind to be worrying about who does the most. How about focus on leveling up a generation. We don't own anything because we will break our neck doing things alone to fulfill our pride....
I love this topic! I have always made more than the men I've dated. They never found out until we got serious and that is only because they put two and two together. Then things began to go down hill from there.... They start out wanting more out of life and even have a plan, but I found they don't want to do the work. Everybody want the success, but never the wanna do the work. Then they get disappointed because things didn't come tougher over night and start trying to use me. This is why I now I believe you never date potential! If he isn't already on his grind, it's a gamble to take the risk to believe he will get there because you motivated him.

Black people need to get out of the mindset that a 9-5 means you can’t go above an beyond financially. I live in Dallas, and there are plenty of people working 9-5s who are making 100k-400k a year. Corporate jobs pay much more than y’all think. Y’all only think about low level or entry level hourly positions. There are program managers, software engineers, data analysts, business analysts, investment bankers etc. People also get great benefits and stock options in their benefit packages. Like I know 9-5 guys who are millionaires or damn near. Get rid of that mindset that a man working 9-5 is an “average Joe” because some of these 9-5ers are living better than most.

He may not make more, but does he provide stability, peace of mind, make you feel safe, provide comfort in stressful times, make you laugh, take care of his/your children, is he compassionate? Does he hold you when you're sad, does he encourage you, inquire about your day, love on you even when he's mad at you, does he have a business mindset and actively pursue his goals/dreams?

Imagine if stay at home wives/mothers' contributions to the household were given a dollar value. Childcare, housekeeping, administrative assisting (household paperwork)... that's bringin a whole lot to the table being handled in-house. If you outsource those "contributions" that's gon run a few hundo to a thousand per month depending on your region. Households are a meritocracy, not a capitalist venture.

I found a woman that is willing to help me get to the point where I used to be and better which helps me strive to be the best person I know I can be the issues in relationships everyone looks down on people who can't bring anything to the table who are trying, but the ones who aren't trying to better themselves need to be alone to try to be their own table

Some 9-5ers want to start business but you have to start somewhere, and also how would the stores people shop at or the restaurant we eat at or cell phone company customers service reps, where would the world be without 9-5ers ...so as far as London’s opinion on average Joe’s its stereotypical! Trauma Bonding is not cool. And bringing up people’s wounds they had to heal from so freely is not what’s up either. That’s spontaneous/emotional abuse. It’s always good to be real but to be hurtful in the process cause you’re willingly helping out isn’t cool. Misuse of power can turn electrifying.
