I'm a big admirer of Ubiquiti, but I recently moved to a new house, and I'm on a limited budget. The alternative, which is three times less than Ubiquiti, is Omada, which I've been using for a year and a half. It's less buggy and easier to set up.
Looks like a great setup. I've never used Unify or TP-Link but it seems like it's a solid thing. For the time being I'm using a MicroTik router, Zyxel GS1900-24 switch and some Zyxel mesh access points. It works fine but I'd love to have the 2.5Gbit network that you have shown here. Thanks for the walkthrough.
It's good to see Unifi have some competition. Judging from the GUI, Amada looks to be about where Unifi was 5 years ago. I wish them success, as the cost of Unifi is not insignificant.
Interesting how similar the interface is to UniFi. TP Link looks pretty competitive for the price! How is the software support, do they do constant updates like UniFi?
Tp-Link has good hardware but the company does not seem to care about customer security. They release only 2, maximum 3 firmware update for product lifetime. I'm sorry to say but I'm moving away from Tp-Link.
I share my wifi with my neighbours and I am able to manage the network on and off premises via cloud controller. Its fast and super intuitive. The dashboard is what I admire the most. And as an IT who has used unifi for about 2 yrs. I think omada offers more capacity for customising urbnetwork and its just as good as unifi in terms of monitoring and management
What sort of speeds does this achive, i have had so many mesh systems that start good then constantly disconnect im wondering if a system like this might be better
Ubiquiti products costs 3x more in my country. So I went with TP link Omada system because its cheaper, but the problem is firmware, too many bugs that needs to be fixed
Good morning brother I hope you are ok here i have a question for you it about jetstream is needed while am opening a business or just desk switch needed to run a business with my neighborhood connecting to me rent for that?
It's of no benefit for internet speed if you have Gigabit or lower internet, but the 2.5G switch will allow faster speeds between on network devices such as a NAS or any media servers.
Not happy...I really wanted to own all these devices, do exactly what you done but found out from TP link customer service that my ISP "sky" wont authenticate the DHCP on the TP VPN router...wtf...then the customer service person said you can change your subnet and get it to work that way. Problem with that is, (double NAT) However, some people have double NAT and experience now latency issues or connectivity issues. I cannot bridge either...so....wtf....HELP! I have just bought into another contract with shtty sky for 12 months so i cant back out now and im over my time limit to cancel. I bought three 620 HD APs for £330 The controller was around £60 I've also got a 24 port TP Link Omada PoE switch for £400 I've also swapped out the fans for Noctuas, which means they're basically silent

Nah! not even close. There's something about Ubiquiti that captures its users. It's from the moment you receive the equipment and start opening them and the whole experience to the very end. Ubiquiti is very much like Apple products which I'm a fan of as well. Just listening to that switch fan noise is enough to for me to say nope.
@@divinity176 That has not been my experience and the reviews I've read are great. Small businesses and home setups are benefiting from this, I probably wouldn't deploy these on bigger companies though.

I found the same thing Unifi too many problems. no updates breaking things and having to reboot or factory rest stuff to get it work right again.

WHy not connecting the router and the switch via SFP port with a DAC?
bought full set of omada products but still inside the boxes. I'm waiting for my fiber connection.
When does your connection arrive?
Can you plug the OC200 into the router instead of the switch. It seems such a waste of a 2.5gbe port for a controller.
Is there a cost to run the cloud software?
No cost to run the cloud software
Will it function according to the pattern?
OC300 -> ER605 -> Netgear 24 Poe switch Gigabit -> EAP 660 HD(no of devices 7)
I am confused, if your vpn router only allows gigabit speeds how would the 2.5g switch be of benefit? Isn't the router a bottleneck for that?
