I think what most tiktok brands lack is an ethos and the ability to create a message/world with their clothing. Even if a brand is solely just a graphic t-shirt brand, there should be a small amount of thought and passion that goes into the ideas rather than just wanting to make money. I'm a graphic designer who makes clothes, and I'm working on making my own unique patterns. It's hard getting engagement on tiktok but i'm not discouraged.
So true. The pursuit of money has washed the passion out of nearly everything. The number one reason people have brands now is to simply make money. Very few are trying to solve problems, create a message, or push anything forward. That’s why so many brands are copy and paste, bc ppl are focused on making the most money for the least effort possible. Which of course means copy/paste something else.
this was very informative. I've had a brand for 3 years now and have always hated how trends dictate the 'next big brand'. Its even discouraged me to not release as much because I knew it didn't fall in the trending niche. this video was dope, definitely needed to hear I shouldn't be afraid of taking the risks to be different. keep it up!
I’ve been learning how to graphic design since highschool and I finished 2023 and always wanted to make a clothing brand but was never satisfied with the stuff I make until now and this video motivated me to go harder
I was glad you got off some concerns of mine, stuff my brand embodies as well. As a full time Fashion designer. Its just not my interest to make the typical content or be visible on camera 24/7.... Anyway, truly enjoyed this vid. You pointed them in the right direction. "Just making Fashion for all the right reasons vs all the wrong reasons is important!" That was a bar ✌️✌🏼✌🏽
once, i get the discord up. theres gonna be lil channels for artist, brands, musicians! hopefully we can grow and some photographers in there so you can find a community to connect and work with! that's my goal :)
this actually motivated me no lie. i was thinking of starting my own clothing line, not even as a way to make money or anything just cuz I just have ideas that I don't see anywhere and can't find the kind of thing I'm looking for so I started DIYing my own shit just to bring my vision to life for myself. but there's only so far you can go doing it as a hobby. I keep thinking about it but I always second guess myself for exactly the reasons you said like, naaah there's so many brands out there lots of good ones even more shitty ones. why even put anything out like who needs another brand? but watching this made me think, like at least i do right? because i started this since I can't find any brands that make the clothes I see myself wearing the most. so maybe there are others like me that would also benefit from that?
i’m so happy this video found you and was able to motivate you! i’m genuinely rooting for you! send me ur brands insta when everything is up and going!! :)
I’ve wanted to start a brand since Highschool and I made clothes here and there with no message. Graduated 2019 just now finding my brands message and aesthetic but now the market is so different than when I was in HS everyone just likes the same stuff. I think give it some time and my brabd will be recognized for what it actually is pretty soon
i’ve been observing the streetwear culture / community since i was…in 8th grade? i would watch interviews, documentaries, look at drops of so many brands, look into brands, geek out about concepts / photo shoots / marketing vids, editing, brands backgrounds, rlly investing time into streetwear fashion :) seeing to what it is now…eh… lol gaining the wrong crowd, over saturated, drowning out genuine brands that aren’t doing it for a money grab like most brands are now based on trends…
@@homebodyFM it def shows!! Exactly, it’s just like what’s happening in hip-hop and music. It’s going to take someone with your mindset to take this to the next level!!
i think it would be cool to print some stuff out and give it away at the airport. make a website with a rabbit hole of videos that represent your teams personality. that is my plan! im taking it week by week but i am excited to promote my products and blur the lines between media and fine art without taking advantage of systematic loopholes and parasocial relationships. i want to consistently drop 'authentically thorough' content and quality products whilst expressing that i would print these regardless of if they cost money or make a prophet.
I keep saying clothing will never be over saturated ppl are addicted to clothes also clothes are a necessity. Yes sum brands are crap but there’s still a space for it
can you walk us through brands you like and why as well as covering copy and paste brands (but blur their names since I know you're not about exposing)
I will try! I think being able to recognize and probably explaining copy n paste brands, might be helpful to avoid. I just wanna figure out a way to make a video about it without bashing? on ppl... if that makes sense lol ill feel bad, i just wanna tell them nicely that..theyre wasting their time n money ):
This brand is fast fashion too but for example if you look at both Boohoo and Boohooman they copy designs from Hellstar and Martin Rose a lot, like “P by Gunna” is a whole entire Hellstar Homage/Bootleg

Keep in mind, there’s the trendy brands, then there’s the trendsetters… It’s better to make the waves 🌊 rather than simply ride them.
