I’m happy y’all enjoyed the food😊The name is pilau and it was made of onions, fresh garlic &ginger, basmati rice , meat (it can be either beef, mutton, chicken, goat however you like it) but we made it with beef , potatoes , ( the white thing)and fresh Arabic spices no curry in it whatsoever. When you make pilau with fresh Arabic spices the aroma/ taste is different compared to the pilau masala( powdered Arabic spice) . The dish also is accompanied by the salad .
There are a lot of different amazing Kenyan dishes and I’m glad you had a taste of the coastal dish.

Next time try nyamachoma and kachambari, briyeni, chapati and Ugali with goat stew. They make nice samosas too.
You need to do part two.

Yes its potatoes. Its added to pilau to absorb the extra spice hence the different taste to it. I wish she made *pilipili ya kukaanga*(chillies blended with tomatoes, fried in oil then reduced to a paste). It gives a whole different kick to the food.

🤣😂Lol this is so fun I have tried some Kenyan food but it’s not spicy but still good. There is also a donut like pastry my friend’s mum serves as dessert with chai tea. I ❤️that can’t recall what it is called . Mexican food is good especially if it’s good tacos or carnitas pork . If you do Pakistani food try chicken or lamb Briyani . I prefer the chicken spicy with tandoori chicken. Also ❤️garlic or butter naan with tikka masala sauce . There is a huge Indian & I think Pakistani candy food restaurant in Houston . Saw it on Buzzfeed a few years ago . Yummy deliciousness 😍. You definitely should try Texas style Southern BBQ . That’s so good with Southern cooking . Malaysian food is good too very spicy & yummy . Jamaican food too oxtail curry , jerk chicken . For cold days try Vietnamese pho noodle soups or Chinese wonton noodles yummy . Or authentic Japanese ramen. Spicy seafood broil also sounds yummy . I think you could even make that one at home with all the spices . Lol am rambling cause am a foodie too 🙈

A short history of the Kenyan Coast: It all started when the Arabs Landed. They encountered the Local Bantus and found communication difficult becoz they didn't have any languages in common. When they settled here, they developed a lingua franca to enable trade. They also intermarried with the locals and that's how the Swahili people and Language were Born!!!
Moving on to independence: When the British Colonials negotiated our independance, the coastal strip was omitted because it was considered to belong to Arabs. So our founding father negotiated with the Arabs (Sultan of Oman) for our coastal strip. This was handed over to the new independent Kenya on condition that the Muslims living there (the Swahili among others), would be protected and given freedom of worship. This lead to the inclusion of Sharia law and judiciary in the Kenyan Constitution.😃😃😃😃

You know what I'm always wondering? If Nimi can taste all these in the breast milk 😆. I think he can taste some things. I once heard that babies sometimes taste sweet, bitter, sour stuff from the mothers milk and it can make them purge, depending on what she ate.
