Well the simple answer is that the KBO is poorly ran internally. The technical answer is that in 2020 the company that won the international broadcasting rights was a company called EClat. There was a consortium that had the internet/mobile rights and they allowed broadcasts on NAVER and AfreecaTV. They are the same company that has SPOTV. This is why the only games ESPN ever showed were SPOTV games. It was actually illegally obtained and there has been office raids and embezzlement charges last year. EClat sold the international national rights to ESPN in 2020 for that year. Last year they told NAVER to stop broadcasting internationally and that is why they were geo-blocked last year and also in 2020. EClat had a deal with AfreecaTV that allowed people like myself to broadcast the game and offer commentary. This is how you could view games on AfreecaTV last year. This contract ended in 2023. A new company called TVing bought the rights by paying nearly double what other companies bid and they are putting the Internet and mobile viewing of games behind a paywall, even for Koreans. They only have a domestic service and don’t have international rights. Bidding for international rights ended on March 6th, but nothing was announced, so no one knows who won the bidding or if anyone even bid on the rights.
I'm new to the KBO, gonna try to watch some Dinos games this season, but might tune in to some Eagles stuff to hear your English commentary too. It's pretty niche, but I appreciate that you make English language content for this league. If you don't mind me asking, how is your Korean?
Thanks for checking it out. I know it’s not going to reach the widest audience, but just trying to spread the KBO around as best as possible. If you like the Dinos I did visit their stadium a couple years ago and made a video. It was one of my first videos, so the quality is…low. My Korean is conversational. I can do most things, but struggle with some words and grammar that I don’t hear often. I also still go to Korean classes, so I’m still learning and trying to get to the point of fluency to offer more bilingual content.
Love the KBO! Started following it during all the lockdown madness and haven't stopped. Cool to find some English speaking analysis on it.

I live in Korea, so I watch it on TVing now. I don’t think there are any legal options for people outside of Korea anymore.

Yeah unfortunately I don’t know of any legal ways to watch. I can provide you with the play-by-play without a video feed, but that’s all this year.
