KSP Class E asteroid redirect pt2 what happens if i don't redirect it

- Decided to "see what happens" if i don't redirect the asteroid and let it skim the atmosphere. Then send it on a more direct collision course.

I once had a class H asteroid appear in the system. I flew to it and it had like half a kilometre of diamater it was huge
(Remember that kerbals are much smaller than humans and kerbin is small too, so this asteroid is big for them)
Yeah, there is some really big stuff in the game now !! I'm working on a class G comet weighing in at 37,747 tonnes which is huge. It was on an escape trajectory. I am now close to getting it into a kerbin orbit :-O

Good call. I hadn't considered that. I might try this again and do a game save and try to view it from the ground, at night !!? But i don't think the game physics will let me :-(

The asteroid is too small to hit Planet Kerbin that's why it ended as airburst just like Chelyabinsk Meteor.

I have tried, and not always failed !!!, to land several different size asteroids.
Although i haven't tried to land a class E asteroid on Kerbin.
But now you've got me thinking about it !!!
I have a few videos in the pipeline, so it wont happen soon.

maybe the angle was too steep? you saw what happened to highly-heat-resistant materials on your ship when you came down a steep angle, now imagine that on a rock with low melting point

It is the PC version from Steam.com. at the time of this video it was on v1.0.5.1028.

But, If you look at around 0m 20sec you can see the 2 probes grappled to the asteroid. if you look closely you can see Rodie and Valentina in the external seats of each one :-) i was hoping i could switch to them for a closer view of re-entry but they didn't last long enough. when i reloaded the quick save for the second attempt i left all 3 crew in the lander can :-) Thanks for watching ;-)
why didnt you make the kerman exit it and deploy parachute on kerman

You should try to grapple kerbin again and see if u can move Kerbin with an extremely thrustfull rocket
I watched a Scott Manley video sometime ago where he explains that the Planets and Moons are basically "On Rails" and can't be moved. :-( and you can't grapple a Planet or Moon. I've tried that ;-)

Is it possible to leave probe on asteroid or does it burn up? Kerbal safety is paramount at my ksp
I admire your respect for the kerbals. i use to save them all but i soon realised there is a never ending supply of new volunteers :-)
You can leave a probe if it's attached with a grappler, but obviously you don't have any control, so if the asteroid rolls in the atmosphere and your probe gets exposed to the heat,.... goodbye probe.
In later versions of ksp (1.7 -> ) you can select a tracked asteroid, i think ?? :-)

In my "lets catch a comet video" I've captured Comet "Keema 1" which is a 37,747 tonne comet. I can't find the class since i've captured it. But i think it was a class H (Gargantuan) when i found it !! it is VERY BIG :-O

It's one thing to find it. It's another matter if you want to put it in orbit around kerbin !! I've played for about 40 hours and finally i'm getting close :-O
When i found my comet, i had a search and found a list of sizes and mass/weight for these new classes. I've been searching again but i can't find it :-(

Why the asteroid simply vanished?
Like the Russian meteor/asteroid a few years ago, it got so hot coming through the atmosphere it exploded into dust and limitations to the games physics engine ??? probably

I know it’s been at least 2 or 3 years, but you should’ve turned off the max temperature using cheats. (If that even was a cheat back then)
I didn't know you could way back then, I think it's F11 or F12 to turn them on/off. But having them on does give an impending sense of DOOM !! :-)
