- After years of delays, Boeing is set to launch its Starliner spacecraft with a crew for the first time Monday. The test flight will carry two astronauts to the International Space Station.

Boeing didn't venture too far from the design of the Apollo capsule. The interior even looked like the original Apollo capsules with the numerous switches and panels. Boeing only changed their interior AFTER they saw SpaceX's Dragon interior. Same thing with their flight suits.
SpaceX just released pics/videos of their EVA suits.
Anybody directly underneath the flight path should be put on alert

The word “crew” is certainly a polite exaggeration. Voluntary “guinea pigs” fit better, given the high chances of disaster for this doomed flight. But what do I know...
And funny thing that most of those rot comes during formal engineer CEO...

I thought we needed a test flight with no issue before moving on to crewed flight. I guess that's how Boeing rolls.

That was the idea. Boeing's first flight had a software problem and couldn't dock with the ISS last time. I thought they had to redo that test flight before they would be allowed to have a crewed flight.
@@Thunderbyrd. This time around if the capsule couldn't dock, the crew can get out and push the capsule to the ISS. Nothing like a little elbow grease!

I have no qualms about this flight. The Starliner program has been excessively scrutinized by NASA, Boeing and ASAP. It is ready and it is now time for Starliner to shine. It's abilities will, greatly, enhance NASA's LEO manned spaceflight capabilities.
They weren't scrutinized excessively. They are almost 8 years and a billion dollars behind schedule!
Godspeed astronauts, and dammit Boeing get it right. We can't afford any more delays; we are already 40+ years behind schedule! We were supposed to go to Mars in 1984 and Jupiter in 2000. We have almost *nothing* we were promised in 1969...

@@goodgremlinmedia2757 - Door plugs are supposed to be more secure than doors. So if a plug can fall off? then doors are even more likely to fall off.

I used to trust the stability and safety of our spaceships. But Boeing's recent track record of parts falling off airplanes, using parts that are deemed unusable and 2 deaths of former employees has me scratching my head in wonderment about this flight. I don't think this flight is a good idea. All flights should be cancelled until Boeing is investigated.

The rocket engines in the Starliner the Atlas V is made from a company that is owned by 50% Boeing and 50% Lockheed.
And with Russian rocket engines
ULA makes the Atlas V but not the Atlas V's engines. Those are Russian. Thankfully ULA took enough inventory of those engines from before the war to last until the Atlas V is retired and replaced by Vulcan. For Vulcan ULA buys engines from Blue Origin.

Being has been making space Hardware since the 60s and they joined with Lockheed to make one of the most reliable rockets of all time.
