For one, that would just be unnecessarily complicated logistically, and for two, he's done these exact sound effects (Donald Duck, spaceship noise, etc) in a bunch of different interviews and live performances. He's just very talented vocally.
This one really steps into Stefon's backstory and character. We know he has a dog, we know he has a son, and we know he somehow lives in a trashcan that has indoor plumbing with said dog and possibly said son. Beautiful, love a good character arc

I just love the genuine, character-breaking "I love you buddy" moment between Bill and Seth at the very end. They're both forces to be reckoned with and should both be in the Top 20 SNL players ever! If you ever want more between the two, Hader has a bunch of interview videos on Seth's show and they're always great!

You tried to sneak it pass me but I saw it at 5:26 that little kiss that Stefon didn't even initiate. And at 10:52 Seth rolling closer to Stefon and holding hands. Also I love seeing Seth just happily smiling at Stefon and his antics. Platonic work friend, he was like nope there is nothing between me and her with his whole body facing Stefon like Amy wasn't even there!
