Fisherman cut weights to lighten then according to current. Sinkers are not always meant to make the line stay on the bottom - sometimes it is desired to have the line ride higher than the bottom, but up a way from the bottom.

I've molded my own sinkers before. what you might be coming across is someone molding their own sinkers but that one didn't completely fill the mold but they used it anyways.

I'd call that a round ball at 20:00, pretty large sprue but it sure looks a lot like the ones I cast for our black powder revolvers.

I dont know if you or Lindsey enjoy the fruit of the grape, but I keep a cork on my finds bag,and when I find a fishing hook Ill bury it in the cork,and dispose of it when I get back home. Of course that means I need another cork,so its wine with dinner night.

The Chigg is back!!
The Pewter top is definitely off of a salt or pepper shaker. A glass one, they were mde clear, green and pink. Some are depression era and some are 19th Century. Nice to have you back . My wife and I went to Shepherdstown on Saturday, thought you had probably been all over that place. Are you still editing Alska? I have not seen the old Gold Dredge.yeas ago they operated those in Florida below Fort Meyers, they mined Phosphates. That area is now Lehigh Acres. hnaks for all the wonderful adventures you had in Arizona. I got real turned on to he Cliff Dwellings. And old towns all over the SW Deserts.

And was thinking some of that lead bar may be casting stock redirected to fishing purposes.
sometimes when people make sinkers the mold wont be warm enough so the lead will cool before it gets to bottom of the mold . That causes the sinker to not fully form . when i make them i figure no need to remelt it . it will still work lol

you should clean up the lock a bit and send it to the guy who runs the youtube channel locklab. he picks locks all the time. It would be interesting to see if he could get it open

I live in Red Bluff Ca., It would have been interesting to see the lava flows, caves and the scenery. I'm unable to traverse the terrain so won't ever get to see it first hand.

I make them egg sinkers and the flat no roll sinkers.
You might try looking for some old boots at Goodwill.

hey chig, u could always get a good deal on some used boots at thrift stores. i always see combat boots at the ones here. check your local d.a.v thrift store.

When I make sinkers I pour the lead in my mold and it leaves a little lead on top I have to snip off.
Think there were some coins by the egg sinker.
