How to draw Delta the velociraptor from Jurassic World

- Watch me draw a velociraptor from Jurassic World, and hopefully you'll learn how to draw a velociraptor from watching me drawing a velociraptor. This Velociraptor comes from the Jurassic World trailers where Chris Pratt comments on his relationship with the velociraptors being based on respect, not control. With him asking the dinosaurs to stand down, and the raptor to the far right giving a threatening snarl without actually attacking. I just loved the stance of the body, thus why I drew it, and hopefully you learn some things from my drawing, or at least get some entertainment from watching me draw.
You are the best! You not only taught me how to draw Delta, you taught me how to get texture.

SomaSaysMeep You are indeed correct :) I drew this long before I saw the movie, so had no idea what any of the raptors names were :) But I love the fact they were all given names :)
Blue, Echo, Charlie, and Delta. They're named after military call signs.
SomaSaysMeep nope, wrong. They are not named after military call signs, atleast not all of them.
B=Bravo,C=Charlie,D=Delta,E=Echo as per the maritime signals/NATO phonetics
here the first one has a blue color to it and hence its called Blue, B is not blue in maritime signalling.

TrueAlterReality I MIGHT consider feathered raptors. Not the biggest fan of my beloved dinosaurs having feathers hehe, but maybe to mix it up :P

Will have to wait a week or two so I can see the movie to see just exactly how it looks, I'm guessing how it looks in the movie will be significantly different to how it looks on the Jurassic World website, because the Triceratops definitely looks different in the trailers compared to the website.

SpinoDude Reviews I should probably make a video on this one :) But or 3 dimensional, I'm not sure if you've ever drawn a 3d house in art class, but it's similar to that, you focus on perspective, foreshortening which is usually the trickiest bit in getting a 3D look, and rendering. Is there a particular element that doesn't come out right? For example, does your lighting and shading look of or is it maybe the proportions that don't look right? Perspective, proportions, foreshadowing and lighting with shading are probably the key elements to getting 3 dimensional dinosaurs looking better.
Also, work with stick figures more. fleshed out stick figures, that way drawing the basic shape and form without putting in the detail will give you a better idea if it's looking right :)

Approximately when will you post the tutorial of drawing all four Velociraptors from Jurassic World? I really can't wait to see it.
John Amato I'm going to try for the next two weeks. I have two versions I'll be doing, a cute cartoon version, and the more serious version. Depending on how each goes, the drawing can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, sometimes a little longer if I take a break. 4 raptors is essentially 4 times the work, so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes 4 hours to draw each one. Then editing the video so it's concise and not TOO long. No one has time for a SUPER long video. I try to keep my videos between 20-40 minutes for a tutorial, and then I'll condense it all down to 5 minutes for an alternative version. Some videos require more editing, sometimes up to 3 or more hours. Then once that's done, if it's a 20+ minute video... there's a good 6-12 hours of uploading time... that's always fun...
It seems a tutorial video will take roughly 2-4 days to get out. sometimes a little longer.
I also have to have some solid time to draw the tutorial to begin with :P Some days are busier than others, and I might not be able to draw too much on a particular day.
So LOOONG story short :P I'd say in the next 2 weeks :)
Now to decide if I want to do the shot of them all running with Owen, or if I want to do them lining up once they reach the Irex. More than likely I'll do both because I think I'm ready to tackle it now :)

Awesome. I believe you can do it. Your drawings are amazing. I am inspired by your work of art. My mom told me that I have been drawing since i was 1 year old. It was just a few weeks ago that I saw your profile. I was looking up how to draw dinosaurs, and that is when your profile popped up and helped me draw my dinosaurs. I am in middle school now and I am drawing dinosaurs. I told my best friend about you and he said he likes your drawings. Although, he claims he cannot draw to save his life. Anyway, just keep doing what you are doing. I am inspired by your work of art. My drawings are seemingly more amazing ever since I saw your drawings.
When i started drawing dinosaurs, I became the best drawer in the whole sixth grade. Now I am heading to seventh grade and I am still drawing. I do not want to become an artist when I grow up, I want to be an astronaut, I really like to draw because takes me to my own world. It keeps me calm.
I expanded my imagination of drawing. It is drawing space, dinosaurs, plants, animals, cartoon characters.
I draw planets so I can imagine what it is like in space. I knkw what it is like to not have enough time to do things, my school is a gifted and talented school and school always interferes with my drawing.
