How do u call this 'March of progress'? Baner road is a symbol of all that is wrong with Pune's (lack of) urban planning. All built up ( I refuse to use the word 'developed') in just the last decade and a half.
Yet no implementation of off street parking for the myriads of commercial establishments allowed to spring up alongside it.
The stark difference between driving in Pune and contemporary cities like Hyderabad is the entire width of the road is available to drive on in such cities as commercial establishments have to provide offstreet parking for their visitors or loose their commercial building status, making all businesses that don't, illegal.

Agree with every word, hence "progress" in quotes. For us to expect Pune to get it's basics (water, sanitation, cleanliness, roads in that order) right seems to be an extremely unreasonable ask :sigh: .. other parts of Pune are even more worse off than Baner.

Only in bits and pieces. A vast majority of the Infra/roads/public utilities do not measure up to an actual metro. We have improved, but not as much as is required.
