    We still need to talk about Russian bots and the Russian Federation the financing both the far-right and the far-left political parties in all Western countries. Hybrid warfare is about politics as well.

    Let's not forget when Russian warships were stationary over a convergence of fibre optic Internet cables off the coast of Ireland. They were mapping these cables so they can cut them when the time is right. The Irish fishermen knew what they were up to and challenged them at sea... It shouldn't be up to fishermen to take on the Russians. They're walking all over us under our noses

    There needs to be a LOT more attention given to Russia's covert activities, with the evidence plainly presented (wherever it doesn't compromise sources and methods) to the public.

    • @briseboy

      See "political warfare" and "active measures" by Russian Federation, and numerous strategic think tank descriptions.
      Both overt and covert means are used, and the open, overt actions and propaganda are NOT given attention by journalists reporting in most world media, although known and available.
      I respond solely because "preaching to the choir" is relatively useless, and it sems that the "public" must do their own research.
      Publishing staff and editors of major media are the ones you may wish to recognize, rather than using the subjunctive " there needs to be."

    As Mr. Cohen stated , once KGB, always kgb. Very specific soviet military hybrid warfare tactics, laid out formally in the 1960s, by soviet research, and included in gru and kgb counterintelligence handbooks, which can be found on internet ( although not having read them since early in russian invasion of Ukraine, i have not retained urls. I believe that one or several strategy organizations have links, which the interested may find), outline the disinformation and information-chaos-inducing tactics .
    These may be found as "information and psychological operations."

    • @briseboy
      @briseboy หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Several of the Kremlin's most important war/security operatives/heads also were soviet intelligence/counterintelligence functionaries.
      Alexander Bortnikov , presently head of FSB since 2008, was KGB, then FSK, and now FSB. he is recognized by european and us intelliegence as having been a factor in the invasion of Ukraine.
      Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of Security Council of Russia, another exact contemporary of Putin was also trained KGB. IN 1999 he became Director of FSB, and was known to be instrumental in the 2014 russian takeover of Crimea, instituting the restoration of forced displacement of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars again in imitation of Stalin and old Empire relocations of ethnic russians into the region. Patrushev has also been instrumental in forging alliance with Iran resulting in both transfer of Iranian weaponry to Russia, ad well as the missiles and other weapons transported to HAMAS from russia and its captured such materiel from the Ukraine invasion. This is all well documented by intel research.
      Those who believe numerous others, such ad Sergei Shoigu, Valery Gerasimov, and other commanders of russian military, to be vulnerable to dismissal, may err, due to their long close association with Putin and with the policy of "Russian Bloc" as opposed to opposing military blocs. imagined as spheres of control.
      This is ancient Empirical doctrine/policy, and equivalent to dogma.
      There are more permanent siloviki ensconced in Kremlin, and the entanglements among their influences within, as well as with individuals ( like the US Trump, and with certain governments choosing ties with Kremlin for philosophical reasons are numerous) are relatively complex in description.

      Well, NATO is a war crime organization. It doesn’t care about freedom or democracy. It only serves it's corporate overlords in the MIC. Along with CIA, it has been the crown jewel of US neocolonialism over the past 60-70 years, toppling democratically elected governments, ruining countries in the process and leaving them far worse off. All NATO does is in service of monetary profit. The countries that join NATO do so because they think they are protected from bad things. Many of the NATO states dislike each other and have bloody history between them. I know because I come from one such country.
      NATO was created to fight and beat the USSR after the 2nd world war. They were never a "defensive" organization. They're not stopping now, Russia and Belarus are alone now and this is the best time for NATO to strike. Right after they drained their resources via a proxy war of attrition in Ukraine. I expected to see this rhetoric fairly soon into the Ukraine war, and I wasn't wrong. We are now seeing leaders calling to end Putin as the only resolution. Once they get rid of Putin their true objective will be put to action. Breaking apart Russia, dividing it into easy to manage states under the corporate enslavement of the US hegemony, US dollar and the American banks. That is how the colonize the world.
      The only problem with that is that I truly believe Putin when he says "A world without Russia is not worth existing". The nuclear arsenal will be dumped on this world and we will go to the stone age. Unless yhe US has some never before seen ultra high technology that can prevent that from happening.

    Russian talking heads yapping about being in the war with NATO doesn’t mean they actually want to participate in one… For them this is more of an excuse to their own population for loosing (not winning) the war against Ukraine. (Like look we are fighting the most powerful military alliance in the world, not just some corrupt former USSR state) So I really doubt they will willingly escalate the war to the point of direct confrontation with NATO countries, not unless they would see some easy picks (meaning you better be strong and resilient over there and help us, while we are fighting these cavemen)

    • @asdfzzz

      To be more clear, Russia is already in a war with NATO and has been for decades, but they want to keep the intensity at the current level (mostly hybrid warfare) because this is the only level at which Russia is competitive with the NATO / the western powers. a lot of the missteps I see the US and NATO making in this current conflict with Russia is applying this boomer framework present during the Cold War to the current situation despite the fact the paradigm has changed. The actual tactics of GRU and Russian Black Ops has changed and updated with technology, a nuclear option is tactically and logistically completely off the table, etc. Yet we keep worrying about escalation management as if Putin will actually push the big red button, we keep expecting highly-trained Soviet sleeper agents committing surgical ops, we get barely trained, disaffected kids throwing m*lotovs, scrawling antisemitic slogans on walls, and paying sympathetic political influencers to sow disinfo.
    Putin is NOT a premier. He's a gangster. Russia is NOT the Soviet Union.
    Putin's ENTIRE mandate comes from the Russian economy and that is barely limping. He is only getting away with this because he views our democracies as weak and ineffectual and we have largely SHOWN him that that is so. He is only getting away with this because the Russian people are not presented with viable opposition or alternative. GIVE THEM ONE.
    We NEED to update our framework as the paradigm has changed.
    We NEED to redress people's economic grievances so that they're not prone to being turned against their own countries.
    We NEED to start taking these threats to our institutions seriously and have the courage to change said institutions if they are no longer viable or not serving their original purpose.
    We NEED to give Ukraine what it needs to end this war on it's terms and make overtures to the Russian people and ruling elite so we can have a sustainable solution that takes into account the needs of all parties involved with dignity for both the Ukrainian and Russian people.

      @@PeterP-dj2qi Well all of the things they said, which are indeed true, are also true for the US. Regime change, invasions and so on, are not unique to Russia. Quick to forget about the invasion of Iraq which brought a infinite amount more suffering death and destruction to the Iraqi people then dictator Saddam could of ever had ? Iraqi people haven't forgotten ! Ask any Iraqi and they will all tell you they never wanted to be invaded and certainly wish they never had as the country today is still recovering from this invasion which was unprovoked and unjustified. The reasons we were told as to why there had to be a invasion were all lies but seems to me that the masses are always gullible and swallow up the lies as if they were truth.

    On the question of Mr Cleaver what prevents Russia to escalate attacks to the rest of Europe openly, Mr Schmitt had a weak answer.
    All of what Russia is doing with its hybrid war effort against NATO is to keep NATO out of the conflict, directly and for supporting Ukraine. Russia does not stand a chance in a direct conflict, they know that, they know NATO doesn't intent to strike Russia either which can be seen how Russia does not actually prepares any defence towards NATO borders.
    This imaginary looming threat that Russia would willingly escalate the war is a smoke screen, psychological warfare, to intimidate NATO countries citizens and government officials. And as we can see it is working.

      Yep. He did answer it more clearly later saying that Ukraine has gone through all the other set redlines already without any repercussions. Russia has nothing to gain from giving NATO any reason to get more directly involved.

    • @madrooky1398
      @madrooky1398 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FuzzyDunl0p42 Yes, but it is not the same though to argue if Ukraine ignores red lines. It is another weak argument, because it does make a difference if other powers interfere.
      The clear argument is simple, the leaders in Russia know they don't want NATO to be involved directly. And that is a thing we should be confident about our self and use it to our advantage.
      Russia talks all the time how NATO is the enemy, and on the hybrid war it is reality. And we should make it crystal clear, that they better not have us knocking at their doors.
