  • This Pot Roast Ras el Hanout is not your Grandmothers pot roast! The slightly exotic flavours and hint of sweet from the dried fruits, makes this slow roasted oven pot roast recipe a treat.
    Ingredients
    1 - 1.5 Kg (2-3 pound) pot roast
    Salt and pepper to taste
250 mL (1 cup) beef stock
15 mL (1 Tbsp) ras el hanout (recipe: • 🔵 What Is? How To Make... )
250 mL (1 cup) pureed tomatoes
    Oil for browning
1 large onion, cut into 8 pieces
2 large carrots, cut into chunks
    3-4 garlic cloves
    8-10 dates, pitted and chopped
    2 bay leaves
    1 cinnamon stick
    Method:
    Preheat oven to 160ºC (325ºF).
Season roast with salt and pepper on all sides.
Mix the beef stock, ras el hanout, and tomato.
Heat oil in a Dutch oven, and brown beef on all sides.
Toss the onion, carrots, garlic, dates, bay leaves, and cinnamon stick into the Dutch oven.
Pour over the stock mixture, cover and place in the oven.
Cook for 3.5 to 4 hours.

I want you to know I love the whole-heartedness and genuine personality you portray in your videos. When I watch your videos everything feels content and homey and can honestly say, I have not found that on any other channel on TH-cam.
I hope you enjoy what you're doing, because I will keep watching your videos for a long time - you have so much good content! All the best, and I bet you will have more than half a million people following you before Christmas.

This looks marvelous.. I'll be trying it soon with my main lady. Often times I will buy a 2.5-3lb roast and then cut it into two or three thick steaks, I then give them a 1/4 inch sear in butter with a splash of oil and seasoning and we enjoy some 2+" thick steaks with a nice juicy roast-like center. The benefit of my method is increased surface area for searing/ caramelization... I am compelled to share with you that I recently found your channel and am very impressed. Glen, you feel like a member of my family. We might be related, lol; got much family in Victoria? I love your work, and will be recommending this channel to my family and friends; I love you guys.

Hey! Starting watching your channel after your cola video went viral, and I've been binging your videos since. Love the calm and positive atmosphere from your videos. I used to watch a channel called "Cooking with Shotgun Red" that was similar in tone but cooked Southern American dishes. The host of the channel recently passed.
Would love to see you try out some of his recipes. His most popular video is how to make McDonalds style fries. I followed his recipe and they're honestly indistinguishable from the real thing.
    Keep the great videos coming!

Looks amazing flavors though I believe the roast is a bit tough.
If I would try it myself, it wouldn’t be beef definitely, lamb shanks would be my best choice, and I would add some preserved lemons to brighten up the flavors a bit.

There is a Tunisian soda with a unique taste in the world (in my opinion), I don't even know how to describe its taste, it's called "Boga Cidre", but it's not "cider", it would be nice if you did a homemade version of that !!!

    • @TonyAlmeida610
      @TonyAlmeida610 5 ปีที่แล้ว

After a bit of research apparently the unique taste of Boga Cidre comes from the Carob plant, and it makes sense since in the 1950/1960s Tunisia Carob drinks were a popular street food. So they basically made carbonized carob juice. Boga Cidre can be ordered in Canada, so you can give it a taste! That might give you ideas on creating your own ultimate soda drink ;)
