If I remember correctly Battle Mages and Thunder Breakers ripped us all to shreds as soon as the match started. Never weny back after my second attempt
I think a lot of people miss the nostalgia and just how happy and carefree their life was in that time. Maple was not better by any stretch of the imagination lol
@@MrFloat777 Absolutely, MapleStory was definitely riddled with extremely questionable design choices back then. The game is so much better now, but some people just don't want to see it.
I had so much fun playing battle arena back in the day with my chief bandit. The fact that you didn't need a summoning rock to use shadow partner while in the arena, and you can get so many points by jumping in the middle of a bunch of players fighting while spamming band of thieves, meant that I got top of the leaderboard nearly every match. All that exp from ranking high up every match got me to lvl 120 so much faster than if I trained elsewhere.
That small chunk of time before they added capture the flag was the greatest time for PVP, it was some of the most fun I had in this game, and even after CTF essentially killed it, I still had fun with a small dedicated group of players who liked to do PVP on my server. This is something I miss dearly, not even private servers have even recreated this old pvp mode. I played Aran in this mode, and it was a ton of fun once I got used to the different timing of attacks. I do disagree with there being no strategy however, while classes were very unbalanced, mastering your classes movement skills and figuring out the range of your attacks could make it very hard for most classes to even touch you, while you would also be dealing damage to them at the same time. I recall just about every attack Aran had to have some usage in PVP.
i had so much fun in this as a bishop, one of the only classes with a crowd control that turned people into snails and you could damage them, HEAL, teleport, the dragon pet, and strong aoes
I remember demon slayer being super op, it has a buff that inflicts damage on anything that hurts you when you take damage, and it likely had more health than you. Just trying to kill demon slayer was a damage race that you'd probably lose without them doing anything lol
I think the only way they could do a PVP or a monster carnival thing again is if they had template classes for players to do. In the game now where people can have 50,000 main stat it becomes quite unbalancable unless everyone was given the same template baseline for their class so that it was based more on skill then just having 35,000 more main stat than your opponent
I wish they'd repurpose Monster Carnival and make it relevant like MP Extreme. It was so fun to play that I made alts just to keep playing it and I'm sure others did the same.
Maple has been built to revolve around burst DPS, so short CD i-frames and classes with highly defensive skills would steamroll everything. It would be Wondroid JQ-tier rage inducing for many players. But I'd love to see again a Pally guard 20 lines of damage before flattening someone. The alliance between my brother (Pally) and I (Hero) back then in free-for-alls really was more for my safety than his lol.
As a crusader shout and magic Crash had insane AoE damage, it was buffed af in pvp and let's not even mention db's 49% Instant kill attack, owl spirit 😂
Man I still remember the PVP time back when Mechanic first came out. Step 1, run around. Step 2, grab attack power up. Step 3, go to where people are fighting. Step 4, Tank mode. Step 5, Profit.
I still have that equipment. It was so fun cheesing with freezing. My friend would abuse silence as a bishop with me in team fights which felt so cruel at times.
Honestly the Carnaval PQ was fun too, before it became too easy there were actually 'races' to get the most points. You would try to get a good party with nice balanced classes, only rules were: no picking up stuns etc. Not really PVP, but fun nonetheless
Hey coppersan, fan here. unrelated to PVP, but I know you played a blaze wizard post ignition and wanted to know 1 thing. Can you bind their flash-jump AFTER ignition? or are you still forced to double tap the jump key? Thanks in advance :D
They could make a bosh rush PVP. Players queue for a certain boss, and they run to see who defeats the boss first. The matchmaking could be made through Main Stat points, or something like that.
I always took great pleasure in wrecking giant mechanics with my battle mage. In my headcanon, I was Star Killer shooting purple lightning at giant droids from The Force Unleashed 🤣
Idk if its a fever dream but i remember a mechanic in maplestory called follow where you like piggybacked on a persons back? Idk if i am the only one who remembers it i think it was broken for some reason but i dont know any details
if you where funded, most classes would be able to keep up at high lvl pvp or kill them anyway. At lower lvl's where things are more equal sure. with pot gear all bets are off however. I'll say this though Bishops in pvp where a big meme. fresh meat!!!
@@JAllenProductions If an enemy Battle Mage knew how to telecast and you didn't, your best move was to leave the match and enter another one. Dual Blades and Demon Slayers were great at PvP but they weren't Battle Mages.

I haven't experienced the last years of pvp since I quit by than. but early pvp days where mad fun. especially if you had godly gear at the high lvl's, was fun killing weak to average players easily. as far as the ice knight goes. everyone wanted to be the ice knight from what i remember was mad fun killing players while being one. wasn't that under powered when I played was pretty op and fun. Was a really fun addition it's to bad that they introduced bonus pot and to many classes that I didn't like. plus the game transistioning into a more solo experience. Good stuff really. it's to bad that so many changes where added that i didn't like but I will always remember them fun times. great to see a vid about pvp underrated mode in maple if you'd ask me.
Monster Carnival should return for levels 250+ as a fun way to grind in parties. Honest some of the bestr times of my Pre-BB time were my countless hours leveling in CPQ. Rombots + Speed pl0x
Chief Bandits were super broken in PvP era. Band of Thieves smacked a full 360 area around the user, also doing quite a lot of damage compared to a lot of the other classes.
I still have a very specific memory of me waking up during Hurricane Irene where I was the only one in my area with power, servers were deaddd and I made a youtube vlog about it cause that's what 13 year old me did LMAO
I remember PvP being horrendous due to lag with some skills just unwilling to cast. Demon slayer was pretty busted though. Just jump down platforms on top of people and spamming carrion breath lol.
monster carnival was the OG pvp. With that said, I still think the pvp they released during chaos was a good one. It was fun, it was even more fun if you were an aran, db, or bam. Those spineless plebs, I remember hating them.
Imagine Chaos PvP today, you and your Explorer facing off against a bunch of Adeles and Hoyoung hopping around like Quake players. Btw, did they wver fix that Orbis pillar, it was destroyed since PvP came out
the old pvp for my server mardia mainly stopped cause of hackers. it was the number one and only reason it fell off there. also folks would argue carnival and ariant pq were the real pvp

Battle Mage was an absolute warmonger, S-tier pvp class! Was honestly my favorite maplestory memories.
I was a BaM back them, can confirm this 🤣😂
You can do dmg and also recover hp at the same time, so damn broken 😶

Pink Bean's music party was the arena's best bgm. Loved it
