I have this motherboard since Dec 2012. This board is excellent value for money. Here is why: # It has 8 pin psu connector (This is usually a feature in high end over clocking boards) # The VRM (voltage regulator module) has very good cooling (Tall heat sink) found in high-end motherboards) # Has all solid capacitors (I know there is a theory that gigabyte uses this as a marketing gimmick) but I have seen solid capacitors in quality hardware only and would not really undermine it. # Has USB3 ports and best part: it has a USB3 header onboard for USB3 front panel connection, again this is not seen in all motherboards. My cabinet corsair 400R has USB3 ports at the front and my PC (thanks to this board) is fully USB3. # Overall the boards feels high end and sturdy. The only feature they missed out (probably to keep the cost low) is SATA3 support. Users with SSDs might feel performance hit connecting their SSDs on the SATA2 ports of this board.
***** Yeah, It will work. It will just downgrade the speed, which isn't vary noticeable on HDD's that can barley use Sata 1 speeds. SSD's it will effect the speeds, but will work.
hi you were going on about ide on the board. some of us have mo drives on the computer still and old gear that still works that's why they put it there
I use to have the older version of this board, it had only two slots for ram and it didn't have any vram coolers or anything either, but needless to say it was a great board. I had it running for 4 years straight, 24/7 365 with heavy usage and the damn thing never had any problems, I just sold two weeks ago and still ran flawless. I think I only paid $30 bucks for it new too and now I see that my local computer shop has these for $20 and that doesn't even include the additional $10 mail in rebate. Anyway, I think I am going to buy another board and build another backup system. One more thing, I keep seeing people ask if their such and such video card will work on this board, Of course it will. You can use any pci-express video card with this motherboard. The only thing that will prevent it from fitting is your computer case. You could use a video card from 10 years ago or a new GTX 1080 if you want.
good , thanks man , very good information . bought a GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+ AMD 760G HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard same as well and thanks for those tips, looking foward to see more videos of yours.
What types of drivers do we need to install for the motherboard? On the website there is like the BIOS, realtek audio and LAN, USB 3.0, VGA, and other stuff. Im not sure what to download and what is needed. My audio works fine and also my network.
Having a devil of a time getting this board to detect SATA drives - like even in BIOS. since you're rather familiar with this board (mine is REV 6.0), I was hoping you might have some pointers?
So I'm Thinking About Upgrading To Intel i7 any motherboards that are compatible with the i7 you would recommend? Or is this compatible with Intel i7? Please respond and thanks
If ur not sure about this one in the video if u dont already have it im pretty sure theres just a cover over it and theres screws in the holes where the legs would go in i think
I have this exact board and am having a major problem. This board, EVGA GTX 760 SC, AMD FX-6200, doesnt post at all, no speaker installed so idk about beeps. Tried 4gb PNY 1300mhz RAM in all slots as well as 2 different Corsair Vengence 8gb. I've gone through absolutely ever instruction and it doesnt output video from card or mb integrated graphics. This is weird: I start the board with nothing attached and it runs for 2 sec then shuts off... the same with the ram but no processor. Ran it with the processor and still no post. Then when i remove the processor and start it, the thing keeps running like the processor is there. I dont know what to do, support says replace all this stuff and nothing is working, not even new board.
It'll be absolutely fine for that cpu. I have this motherboard and I'm running the fx8350 in my rig which a couple of iterations up from the cpu you want to use. It'll work a charm.

Does this MoBo work with 1600 MHz memory? Cuz specs say its 1066 MHz max, 1333 only on overclock... I got 1600 MHz Kingston hyperX 2x4 GB... Can it actually work on 1600?
I'm running 2x4GB at 1600 without any issues. I'd like to put that up to 32GB (4x8GB) at 1866 though... ;) So, yes - it'll go to somewhere near the 2GHz mark (CPU is the limiting factor - needs to be an AM3+ CPU).
Tim Whitby buddy i hav 1x4Gb 1600mhz corsair ram , but the bios shows it at 1333Mhz and when i manually oc it to 1600Mhz , my windows 8.1 shows an error!
I have the MA-78LMT-USB3 (Rev 4.1 - blue mobo) - it will run any AMD AM3 / AM3+ CPU that is 125 watts or less. And, to answer your question, YES! I'm currently running an AMD 7790 2GB OC card with my mobo - the only issue you will have is power supply connections to the card - you WILL need a card that supports either a 6pin or an 8pin (6+2 or 8) GPU power connector (the motherboard does NOT supply the required power for that card). Just make sure you have a PSU with at least 550w (output), and that all-important GPU power connector (6p / 6p+2p / 8p).
There shouldn't really be any issue, as you've listed a Black Edition (multiplier unlocked version). You should be able to bump the multiplier up a couple of points, and you should be able to bump the FSB / Base Clock up a bit as well (dependent on your memory). IF you try to, and it either doesn't run - or isn't stable - default the BIOS, and run standard clock.
Only to 4.2-4.3ghz turbo clock. If you raise the voltage you will exceed 125-140W. If you have Wraith or top down blowing cooler that helps cool the VRM's OZtalksHW only got 4.2ghz on FX-6350 + Wraith cooler with no voltage increase
The R9 270X should work fine in the GA MA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard, but, it won't work at PCI-E Rev 3 specs. Instead, it will run at PCI-E Rev 2 x16 (equiv. to PCI-E Rev 3 x8 in terms of bandwidth).
sezzy4 Depends, If he gets a board that was sitting in a warehouse for a year, chances are it needs updated. Should be easy to do, The revision of this should already have a bios for the 8350, but might have bios update for windows 8 like some boards.
Not necessarily, You can go out to amazon and buy a brand new board from gigabyte, and it would need a bios update for certain things, If this guy got this board, I'd say check to make sure it does have the most recent bios, not all the time they do. I just ordered a newer version of this board and it will not work with the FX6350, I had to throw my 1100T in it to update bios and then it worked with my FX. And that was from Newegg.
THe only time i ever read the manuals is when it comes to the front case connectors.ut could i ask would the r9 290 and a fx 6300 be a comfortable match to go with this mobo as my current one keeps rebooting as the vrm overheats so i cant use my gpu so at the moment stuck with Amd/Ati's 3000 onboard graphics :/ thanks in advance.
Since everyone is asking: If you're asking about "will my *** graphics card work?" Yes, 99% of the time. pcie 16x is pcie 16x. only reasons why it wouldn't work is size, and your PSU. Next, the mobo is built with AM3 in mind, but has support with AM3+. Some very high end AM3+ CPUs may not work. Mobo supports standard UDIMM, 1333. If you aren't posting, make sure you aren't mismatching RAM in the quad slots. Some motherboards won't post unless say you have 2x2gb in the white, but 1x4 and a 1x2 in the blues.
Using this motherboard for my build. At the moment i am trying yo but up for first time and it asks me to put the boot up disk in and press enter when i do this it just keeps asking and wont move on.. Does anyone know why?
+Dalia Hernadez And you post this here without any additional information?... I bet this will work: 1. Turn off the switch on the backside of your pc. (From "I" to "0" I guess..). 2. Unplug the networkcable for like 20 seconds ; the cable that gives the electricity. 3. Plug it back in. 4. Turn on the switch on the backside (From "0" to "I"). 5. Try to turn on your pc. 6. PROFIT???
Note for buyers: I have this board, and I'm using a 4150. If you have higher than about a 6350, you WILL run into stability issues. I say this only because it has been reported 100% of the time, be it on the Tom's Hardware forums, TigerDirect, or on Newegg. If you want to use a 8300 or higher, buy a different board. If you want a 6300 overclocked to high heaven on a little motherboard, buy this board.
***** can you tell me if the 6300 is stable on this board and if it is possible to overclock? (4.5 ghz or so) And how fast ram it supports (my store tells me 1333) And if you have other things! Thanks already!
it is better then the 10600 and worse then the 1600 :-). But yes, it will work just fine. Usually I put around 8 gigs in the systems, for heavy gamers, and many thousands of dollars worth of computing we place 16 gig.
Can anyone get a USb to boot with this damn mobo? I cannot for the life of me. Any tips. I know how to boot form USb. And it works on laptop and other desktop. I know how it all works. It just won't do it with this mobo.
evan water Have you tried to press F8 while booting. If you do you get a list of containers where to boot from. I will install this board in some days an i will exactly tell u how to boot from USB if i can manage it. In do not think it is impossible. C u later from germany
Sun Ra F8 nope. Maybe I'll give ti a shot. I am working on a new build now. Got new mobo z97 but cannot use till i get the CPU.. but i'l try it later today. thanks
Lord GabeNᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ 4.2gb at 1.45 v on the slightly older fx 6100, no need for a guide through experience :)...oh and my oc is on air using an older asus axe square gold fan :)...and very good case cooling :)
Leeston G Thanks man, thats a pretty decent OC. My goal is about 4.2-4.5 with the FX6300 using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, if I win the silicon lottery that is. Could be pretty decent, also ordered a second hand 7950 which is really good for overclocking as well.
Lord GabeNᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ Should be fine as the 6300 is a better overclocker (usually) only advice i can give is to make sure you have good case cooling setup if oc'ing on air :), hit me up if you need any help with bios etc ;)
fair thought with reguard a mid range board why IDE I still have old 500 gb drive sitting in old system now days most systems do not need large HD the rubbish is on cheap externals or is (clue less) sorry cloud stored. I wished to know if this system had any PSU nightmares after all been bitten in thye arse by Gigabyte before.
It's ALWAYS wise to read the manual, no matter HOW experienced you are. So, I think it's quite ignorant of you to imply that if you HAVE to read manual you don't know what you're doing.
Cheezy It doesn't work well with fx chips that use 125w mine always does random reboots and crashes. The mobo more suitable for a 95w amd chip. Save your money and buy something better it will be worth it.
DO NOT BUY THIS MOTHERBOARD WITH AMD FX-8350. IT IS TOTALY UNESTABLE. I bought 10 of this mothers, and 10 AMD FX-8350. All the CPU STRESS TESTS gives me HARDWARE ERROR. I have the latest BIOS (F4). I complained with GIGABYTE but i get silly responses like: we dont support 3rd party stress programs (prime95), etc.
It dependes of what kind of use. We use it for render. CPU 100% most of the day. They didnt work ok (blue screens, CPUs clock going down, etc) But we finally find out how to make it stable: we have to manually adjust the CPUs voltage and other options from the BIOS. It was a long try and test, but we finally made them work. We also spoke with Gigabyte. Their oficial responde was: THIS MOTHERBOARD IS NOT FOR A 125W CPU , but the funny thing is that the CPU appears on the compatibilty list.
+DaroEP Do you mind sharing your manually adjusted settings (if they improved performance not underclocked)? I received a pre-built PC for the holidays (3 years ago), and recently upgraded the CPU/GPU/PSU. Reading your comment makes me regret demolishing the FX-4100 that came with it. lol I'm trying to improve gaming performance and windows speed, but maybe changing the settings in the BIOS isn't necessary?
2016 and so thankful they have IDE still. can hook up my old hard drives as spares.
I have this motherboard since Dec 2012. This board is excellent value for money.

# It has 8 pin psu connector (This is usually a feature in high end over clocking boards)
# The VRM (voltage regulator module) has very good cooling (Tall heat sink) found in high-end motherboards)

Hi, is it possible to add an additional sound card onto this motherboard? I want a 5.1 sound card to fit my new surround sound
Yes, either the PCI slot, or the PCI-E slots (dependent on added-in GPU's).
Yes it will, make sure to set your BIOS to boot PCI Video.

Any AM3+ FX processor, I use the 4.0 Ghz 8 Core AMD 8350 w/ 16 Gig RAM. I am a gamer and have excellent results with FX processors.
Will this mobo support Hackintosh? i have this with AMD fx6300...i wish to use for Music production.
Does this fit in BitFenix Neos, ATX ? And is it compatible with AMD R9 280?
yea, any fx series should work. I bought an fx 6300 and this motherboard came with it for literally a penny at microcenter
So I'm Thinking About Upgrading To Intel i7 any motherboards that are compatible with the i7 you would recommend? Or is this compatible with Intel i7? Please respond and thanks
I bought a 92mm Cooler Master TX3 CPU fan. Will it fit on this mobo? I dont see any holes around the CPU socket for the fan's legs.

would this motherboard be good for gaming?
plz plz tell me if this would be compatible with the Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC AMD Graphics Card - 3GB
I would have suggested a higher power supply, now-days, we use 500 watt plus. Just my thought.
Will a evo 212 hyper heatsink fit on this or will it get in the way of the rams? A push and pull one with 2 fans.
how is it with gaming?
You no longer post videos?
Will i be able to use install my ASUS DGX sound card in the PCIe-port under a GTX 970 GPU without any problems?
good for stuff like WoW and EQ2?(World of Warcraft, and Everquest 2)
?? You can play WAW in the oldest motherboard you can find... People need to stop being so serious about motherboards when it comes to gaming...
is wifi speed slow on this board? would it support a fx 8350 black edition over clocked?
Andyy k well right now im running one on mine and it hasn't blow up yet but i dont recommend over clocking with that cpu on this mother board

I'd like to put that up to 32GB (4x8GB) at 1866 though... ;)
So, yes - it'll go to somewhere near the 2GHz mark (CPU is the limiting factor - needs to be an AM3+ CPU).
I managed to figure it out eventually, but tnx for the help :)
Nikola Maksimovic does the hyperx memory work at 1600mhz?

***** can you tell me if the 6300 is stable on this board and if it is possible to overclock? (4.5 ghz or so)
And how fast ram it supports (my store tells me 1333)
And if you have other things!
Thanks already!
Tentecrew I'm running 1600 mHz RAM on it A-OK.
guys pls help! does this bord support AMD FX 8370 8 Core 125W processor?
Today have Rev.6 !
is this crossfire or SLI ?
No, Can't do it. If you get a HD3450 it might crossfire with the onboard, but you might find it will be faster with just a cheap video card.
Would a msi r7 370 4gb oc edition fit in this
Any pci-express video card will work on it, even the new GTX 1080. The real question is, is your case big enough?
can i use fx 8300 with this?
yes!
ManosGaming GR thanks!
it is better then the 10600 and worse then the 1600 :-). But yes, it will work just fine. Usually I put around 8 gigs in the systems, for heavy gamers, and many thousands of dollars worth of computing we place 16 gig.
Is it ATX or Micro ATX?
It is a micro atx board
Can anyone get a USb to boot with this damn mobo? I cannot for the life of me. Any tips. I know how to boot form USb. And it works on laptop and other desktop. I know how it all works. It just won't do it with this mobo.
evan water Have you tried to press F8 while booting. If you do you get a list of containers where to boot from. I will install this board in some days an i will exactly tell u how to boot from USB if i can manage it. In do not think it is impossible. C u later from germany
Sun Ra F8 nope. Maybe I'll give ti a shot. I am working on a new build now. Got new mobo z97 but cannot use till i get the CPU.. but i'l try it later today. thanks
I sent the gigabyt board back and have an Asus now. It works fine. Best regards
how max ram?
32 gb
no uefi but why could you not overlcock with this?
+CreepinWhileYouSleepin i ues this board and overclock with no issues
+Leeston G What speeds with what CPU?
What overclock guide did you use?
Im getting this with an FX6300 tomorrow
Lord GabeNᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ
4.2gb at 1.45 v on the slightly older fx 6100, no need for a guide through experience :)...oh and my oc is on air using an older asus axe square gold fan :)...and very good case cooling :)
Lord GabeNᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ
Should be fine as the 6300 is a better overclocker (usually) only advice i can give is to make sure you have good case cooling setup if oc'ing on air :), hit me up if you need any help with bios etc ;)
fair thought with reguard a mid range board why IDE I still have old 500 gb drive sitting in old system now days most systems do not need large HD the rubbish is on cheap externals or is (clue less) sorry cloud stored. I wished to know if this system had any PSU nightmares after all been bitten in thye arse by Gigabyte before.
Yeah I'm finding one
can I buy this motherboard nice r not
you can hawe fx eaven
ya
holy shit you look like a 40 year old Gomez from Breaking Bad.
It's ALWAYS wise to read the manual, no matter HOW experienced you are. So, I think it's quite ignorant of you to imply that if you HAVE to read manual you don't know what you're doing.
And now, good luck getting a good graphics card for under 1k 😂
Mid-ranged gaming? My ass, I can run this on crysis 3 ultra settings 1920-1200 30+ fps.
that is mid range though
Jonathan Young
Let me re-phrase "60+fps"
Oblivion Lord high end gaming rig runs it at 4k
Lmao ima run triple a games on this thing
I have this board with a fx8320 and all I can say is it sucks.
MattMellow 007 Why?
It doesn't effect performance or anything so what sucks about it?
Please tell me, I might buy it.
Cheezy It doesn't work well with fx chips that use 125w mine always does random reboots and crashes. The mobo more suitable for a 95w amd chip. Save your money and buy something better it will be worth it.
MattMellow 007 pcpartpicker.com/p/qk9ZmG
I don't think its the Mobo's fault, maybe the wattage is too low.
MattMellow 007 I will try to run it with a Athlon II X4 with 2,8 mhz. I guess it will work fine. i will come back and report it.
+MattMellow 007 mine does the same
DO NOT BUY THIS MOTHERBOARD WITH AMD FX-8350.
Why did you buy 10? Lol
DaroEP I use this board with an 8350 and I don't have any stability issues...
DaroEP Yeah, I haven't had very good luck with Gigabyte reps myself.
+DaroEP Do you mind sharing your manually adjusted settings (if they improved performance not underclocked)? I received a pre-built PC for the holidays (3 years ago), and recently upgraded the CPU/GPU/PSU. Reading your comment makes me regret demolishing the FX-4100 that came with it. lol
I'm trying to improve gaming performance and windows speed, but maybe changing the settings in the BIOS isn't necessary?
how many fans can it support?
