Binge watched the lot in 2 days .... love your style and mix of sailing/repairs/diving etc... look forward to next episode. I also caught the ‘small child’ comment and being from Scotland wasn’t 100% sure it wasn’t a wind up. Thanks for entertaining me in lockdown.
Cracking cobia! You could take a run North up through the Great Sandy straights to Hervey Bay and still be under 25 S, some good spearing on the Barwon Bank on the way.
Wow, great fish! Lucky there was only one whaler. Definitely better with a wingman/ person! I don’t really know anything about Cobia. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
I absolutely love when you guys have new videos. Great to see you enjoying the boat now you've done all the hard work. Watching your vids and a few other channels i follow has made me recently purchase some entry level gear and start spearing here on the NSW South Coast!!!
Awesome mate that makes us so happy to hear that! The south coast is a beautiful place to learn to spear, so much quality seafood on your doorstep! Enjoy the process it’s an awesome way of life
You did well keeping the IRB intact. I was cringing with all of those sharp things around. Maybe you could use some old marine carpet as protection when you go fishing. Some years ago I was helping to release a not-happy stingray from a shark net. We ended up with a rapidly deflating boat from a dozen holes. At least we got the ray away.
I was so paranoid of popping it! Normally I’d only pass a dead fish in with no spear but was a bit of a unique situation! I took the tender it marlin fishing a few months ago, kinda glad I didn’t catch one!
Well done mate's While you're in the area of Brizzie Try a run out to Flinders Reef just north of Morton Is I dived it for years in the late 70's & 80's Some of Flinders is as good as any up the Qld coast. I should know, I dived from the Ribbon Group to Flinders, in the day. No spearing these days as it is now a National Park
Well you need to wait 6 months, probably a good idea to get to know your boat in different conditions, so here's a suggestion for you: take a month+ exploring the southern bay to the GC, then coast hop south every second major river to the Nambucca for a couple of week each, then on the way back do the rivers you passed on the way down, then revisit your fav parts of Moreton Bay and then slowly head up to Inskip and do Tin Can Bay and the Great Sandy Straits up to Hervey Bay, if you take your time picking good weather windows, that will fill in 6 months easily (done right it could take a year+) keeping you south of 25ºS, plus you'll have some unique footage for TH-cam, some bar crossings and some pretty coastline.
Haha thanks Dave! The videos are on a massive delay but it’s funny reading your suggestion as we did basically that, ended up as far south as South West Rocks and and heading back through Canipa passage as I type this! Got some good bar crossing under our belt now! Cheers for watching!
@@sailingpopao I wasn't sure how far behind these videos were, some great footage to look forward to then🤞🏻, but you are heading north just as it's getting cold then 👍🏼I guess your car is still in Sydney? I'm in Brisbane (a few minutes away from the manly boat harbour or Lota) so let me know if you want a hand with a grocery run.
Love your videos guys! Sailing and some serious spearfishing got me hooked up to your channel! That dive was just insane! And what a fish! All the best from Bulgaria.
Thanks for another awesome episode! I don’t know how much you guys are planning on spearing out of the tender, but it might be worth it to rig a small fish finder on it? On my kayak I went a little over board but with my transducer mounted over the side of the kayak and on low frequency I can mark bottom in as deep as 1700ft (Garmin 64cv). Not necessary but if you’re going to do a lot with might as well get a decent finder.
Great fish michael especially for a first dive of the new catamaran , no children in that cobia which is lucky for you he he .... hey often do you run your water maker?
Hahaha cheers mate! Depends where we are, most of the time it easer to do a jerry can run if you have access to a tap. Will come into its own on the reef, was making 92lph last time we measured it.
Yes we try to practice that as much as possible and definitely don’t recommend diving alone but unfortunately it can’t always go that way. It means we have to be extra conservative with our dives and just accept the risk that comes with it. Unfortunately with one my two of us it often means one will have to drive the boat while the other dives, otherwise we would never go spearfishing and that’s isn’t a option.
Wow! That’s a giant fish!! We thought it was a shark before you took it out. You have some skills 👍🏼👏🏼 Great video guys 👏🏼
Cheers for watching! Yeah many people pass up Cobia thinking they are sharks!
Bloody legend!! what a first fish
Haha cheers Chris, stoked 👌
Perfect match. Boats and Spearing. Good stuff guys 👊
Match made in heaven cheers!
👍 beaut spot , awesome fish 😀 nice 1👍
Cheers it’s a awesome part of the world!
@@sailingpopao O congrats on 2 pb with those 2 fish an wat a way to crissen the new tender, have u been out east side of North stradbroke at all?
Justin Siemek cheers! So stoked with those two fish! Yeah have dived out of north straddy a few times over the years! Sharky old spot!

Wow that’s a solid effort, so glad you enjoyed them that much! Bahaha you guys don’t use small children over there? 🤪
@@sailingpopao Don't think we have fish that big over here....!
Loch Ness? 🤣
Sailing Popao - Underwater Ally Adventures *laughing* Forgot about Nessie.... best look out some chidlers 😂🤣
Your rocking iT!!!!
Thanks!
Great video man! I am from Greece and really glad to see other countries and their way of spearfishing! Cheers!
Thanks so much, glad you liked it! Sorry for the late reply!
Dude thats insane, what a fish! Love the videos man, they're genuinely getting better and better.
Thanks Kabir, good to hear that 👌
Have been trying to catch a Cobia that size for years... but must be using the wrong bait. Haha
Hahaha yeah that’s why I spear them, stuff waiting nine months for bait 😜
Gee guys,21.4k in subs.well done absolutely killing it...cheers...
Cheers mate slow and steady! Thanks for watching!
Nice catch brother. Big cobia💪
Cheers mate!
Cracking cobia! You could take a run North up through the Great Sandy straights to Hervey Bay and still be under 25 S, some good spearing on the Barwon Bank on the way.
Cheers! The most painful part of sailing has been driving over so many epic spots, so much reef, not enough time!
Wow, great fish! Lucky there was only one whaler. Definitely better with a wingman/ person! I don’t really know anything about Cobia. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Cheers! Always better to have two in the water that’s for sure! Thanks for watching!
straight to the ribbons......
Hell yeah!! On our way 👌
loving the spearing content back! cheers
Cheers mate gonna be a lot more now the majority of boat work is finished, stay tuned!

Cheers! It’s well worth the trip!
hope u guys go north to the reef
Cyclone season officially ended today! We are on our way next week 👌🤗💃 can’t contain our excitement!!

Did manage to get back in ok with the deflated boat? Ours has three chambers so hopefully a bit of redundancy!
Yes, I had a dozen small holes so it was a bit rubbery, and not pretty afterwards with the scattered small patches.
Yeah that’s a shame!
Well done mate's

Cheers! We have dived Flinders before but tend to skip it because we can’t spear there like you say. Would have been insane in the 70’s and 80’s!

Landed a monster... Nice to see y'all are going to be dropping more video's..
Cheers mate plenty more to come!
I wish I had a 30 second dive that went like that! frothing that cobia was huge!
Cheers! Not very often you are that lucky!
Cobia fish and chips yo. It’s da bomb 😅
For sure but I feel you can’t go wrong with any fish and chips! 😂

So good, amazing stuff guys
Thanks mate stoked you liked it
Haha Small children 😂 funny shite. Great Cobia mate 👌
😂 cheers!
Never considered eating ceviche but that looked really good 😍 good video😎
Yeah we love it! So refreshing and healthy. Cobia is so versatile for cooking with 👌
how do you guys stay on top of the issue of ciguatera when consuming large fish like cobia?
Never known Cobia to be a carrier of it, we don’t treat it with any caution
Thanks for another awesome episode! I don’t know how much you guys are planning on spearing out of the tender, but it might be worth it to rig a small fish finder on it? Awesome stuff, 👍
Thanks for watching Thalari 👌
Come up to bundy reef n fishing is great
We’re on the way!
Hope to see yous up here
How's it just siting there, what a great fish. You need an old ironing board for a cleaning table mate
Yeah probably in a food coma, had at least thirteen sand crabs in its belly! Haha definitely need to get a bigger filleting table!
Nice one.. you didn't bleed it?
Thanks R.E. Hill, yes it was bled in the tender it just didn’t make the edit. It was quite the mess 😝
Does your insurance allow for chux cloths on board? 😋
Hahaha I sure hope so! Doubt we could be that unlucky twice 😜😂
Wow, what a fish! Are you spear fishing out there alone?
Thanks! Yeah unfortunately I had no one to go with, not recommended
Just him & the camera man! 😎
Really good content guys... Michael WTF was the regular diet of cobia again? 😂😂😂😂😂
Bahahaha cheers mate! Yeah sharks are taking too much of the credit!
super quick grocery during coronavirus..
Hahaha in and out, minimal contact, although I did forget my gloves...😂
@@sailingpopao That is why the shark chased you down to telling you to put the glove on..
Hahaha
Epic!!

small children always getting chomped by dem cobias
Hahaha we were wondering if anyone would notice that 😜😂👌
NEVER DIVE ALONE, ALWAYS DIVE WITH A BUDDY
Yes we try to practice that as much as possible and definitely don’t recommend diving alone but unfortunately it can’t always go that way. Unfortunately with one my two of us it often means one will have to drive the boat while the other dives, otherwise we would never go spearfishing and that’s isn’t a option.
You keep shooting fish like that and you will have to get a bigger filet knife.
Haha indeed! We def need a bigger filleting table 😜😂
Small children ???
Only really small ones 😂
@@sailingpopao that’s good how about x wife’s 😂
No comment 😂
No coriander, your trippin, your missing out big time
