Brittney, Scott, and Andrew in particular are all among the very best in the world at what they do and Grant and Nick are no slouches either. The amount of musical skill concentrated in this ONE BAND is just mind-boggling to contemplate. Andrew's also got a fantastic singing voice, but he doesn't use it much; he prefers to just play guitar. Their songs are incredible, the Apex/Abyss albums worked really well just on the level of fiction with actual character development, a redemption arc, and even some genuine suspense in the limited medium of song lyrics. And to top it all off, they are widely known for being nice, genuine people who are friendly with their fans and down to earth. It's just awesome all the way down with these folks.
a) I love that UTA released a fan/concert-focused video... it gives all the anti-AI yappers some time to cool down. b) Brittney - "Top Three Talent" is probably right. No less than Arjen Lucassen asked her to fill in Floor's parts in his live 2023 shows, and she stole the stage. All while being a new mom AND a total badass at the same time. The Euros loved her and I sincerely hope that Canada/N.A. does not lose the band to a more supportive continent... I mean, Kamelot began in Florida, ffs... and now they make Sweden/Germany their home. c) The crowd in this video is so great. Classic Metal Smiles and Scowls. Best people in the world. d) RE all the AI controversy w/UTA... and in general: - - 1) the storyline is effin FANTASY, folks. Getting a bunched up over someone's innocent storyline and use of a tool is rather sub-human, imo. - - 2) as a former creator of new technology: we can't hide our heads in the sand. I mean, Zog don't play Chuggy Filth on gut strings with flint picks, right? - - 3) if we MUST see AI as an inescapable foe, then turn to the wisdom of Miyamoto Musashi : Have an unwavering commitment to self-improvement (learn to think like a computer, and how to think outside a computer's bounds). Know your enemies' timing and counter outside that timing (AI can be predictable; develop methods that are outside it's shell). And mine : infest AI by teaching it to generate failing outcomes... praise it for it's failure. If the AI benefit-analysis gets enough praise for fail-worthy outcomes, it will start incorporating the elements of failure into it's efforts, becoming more vulnerable. Omar, you rock. Keep up the good work.
