I've watched pretty much nothing but TH-cam for years. I watch anything from music videos to fishing videos. Out of the 100's of channels I watch 2vintage is the one that excites me the most when there is a new video. I learn tons and straight up enjoy all of your videos. Thanks and keep it up!!! #2vintage
Hi Joe, I use mag wheel cleaner in a pressure pack can to clean a lot of things, itis very effective. It will dissolve light rust and corrosion as well as clean very well.
I have a theory there is a dead cylinder, & this quad is running on three. : l And there are at least seven " Joes " to make all these. he's quadruplets.
Yeah he started a old KX80 on fire in his garage, the ironic part of it there were fire engine sirens going off close to his House as soon as his started on fire. I believe they were responding to a call at one of his Neighbors. There's no way Possible they were there that quick for Joe's fire!
Hi, I like how you did step by step trouble shooting. I had a 1980 Yamaha XS 11 Special that had straight 4 cylinders and carburators like on your kawasaki. I remember back in a days I had vacuum measuring device to hook up on each carburator to set it up. I bought it on Ebay, if you intrrested to reaserch and want to have it in your shop, ill ship it to you free of charge. I have a picture and will send it to you. That may help you setting those old carburators.
I'm definitely going to be looking forward to the test run, that's going to be a great watch. Awesome job getting it started, I'm not sure that the previous owner was being honest about it running, it looks like a project that wasn't done.👍❤️
Joe, you are a master of understatement! .......... backfire, backfire, backfire, backfire.............. "yeah somethings not right". Your masterful ability to diagnose and repair, along with the "matter of fact" delivery draws me into the process every time. Keep up the diverse content, and I love these will it run hoopties!
Myself and a buddy built one like this 20 years ago. Had a 450 yamaha on a 230 Suzuki quadsport chassis. It would go every bit of 120 at top end. Made me relive some old childhood memories seeing this thing.
Even if they were the only restrictions are the size of the pipe that goes into the mufflers and the pipe inside the mufflers . Other than that you can run em on 4 strokes if wanted but only on like 50cc to like 100ccs depending on what the 2 stroke muffler was made for . They look like old school exhaust and the inlet pipe going into the muffler looks like it slides onto the header pipe
Ya then exhaust are deff for 4 strokes you can tell by how bike the inlet pipes are coming from the header pipe into the mufflers . 2 strokes have a smaller size diameter pipe coming off the expansion chamber pipe going into the muffler depends on wats size 2 strokes
I agree @mickeyhicks but like Derek at vice grip, when he gets these things running after sitting around for a long time, he needs to let them sit and run and get up to temperature so all the gaskets and seals can "cook in" and "come back around"...... followed by an "Italian tuneup" with some Berrymans B-12 for the first few tankfuls of fuel. Usually Joe will get them running after sitting for months, if not years, and then just "death-rev" them right to the moon. Jesus Joe… Slow down buddy… 🤣🤣🤣 You need to let everything cook in and come back around, especially gaskets.
This one comment is going to make all the dickheadz come out of the woodwork. It always surprises me how many know it alls want to talk shyt about him and what he does. I guess good or bad it's all comments and that's supposed to help so he's probably thankful for them too.
I noticed the exhaust is not symmetrical looking from the back so when fixing the exhaust leak it might be something to look at but it is a pretty cool little machine. 😊
the KZ750 was 52bhp? with a recorded tops peed of 103mph... Another popular bike from that era, was the CB750... which was 65bhp stock.... with a recorded top speed of 124mph.... So in the grand scheme of things... During that time period.. the KZ750 was actually a slouch.... One of the slowest 750cc motorcycles during that time period, in fact...
Joe I know that people say this all the time but goodness gracious! Do you sleep? It’s all I can do to watch all of your content and boy do I try! Love you man! Keep up the good work! I love your channel
From now on every time one starts for the first time i need you to look at the camera and holler It's Alive, with the same expression as Jim Carry. Don't forget!
That is a beast of a machine and a great deal for $300. How much it cost to bring it back is another story. I think it would be a keeper for me but I'm glad to see it coming back all the same.
love the Quadzilla, couple of months ago i saw one in germany, street legal(500cc) and nearly perfect condition for about 12k €, not even a bad price for this gem of history. also awesome video like always, thanks for your showing your skills, taught me a lot and gave me a better understanding of engines
I bought an old ‘82 KZ1000LTD in college, just for the engine. I ended up putting it on the road & parked it after a few months, so I wouldn’t die. those old KZ engines were ahead of their time & still feel amazing to rip. I look forward to seeing this thing perform on the dirts.
I got goosebumps when it started lol, I doubt anyone else would have been able to get that monster started lol. There is only one Joe, I'm sure you'll have gained compression yourself trying to start it lol.😅❤️
OK. After seeing you buying this thing I am officially calling you FEARLESS JOE! Wow. Great job figuring out the issue. I am not sure what the guy was thinking when he put that engine in that frame though, hehe. Keep those videos coming!
@@GettingNervousI've seen this guy do some good jobs but he's slightly gone down in my estimation. The timing problem was smacking him in the face when it was backfiring through the carbs. How would low compression cause it to backfire through the cards?
I love these videos u guys remember when he had a street bike swap lawn mower thats my favorite video yet i love these rigged machines like these and fixes them
one will be a CLASSIC !!! 1 for the Books !!! Nice Work Right Here !!! some of the BEST Content around , Thanks Joe if JD hasnt told you yet 2day You Do Great Work !!! %
The sheer amount of work and content dude puts out,,,,,,,,I don't think he sleeps. ❤ I love it,,,,, I cut my teeth on small engines many moons ago......I can tell you,,,the ones you think are a breeze,,, will spin you for days. 😂😂❤❤
Nice step by step diagnostic. I had 1980 Yamaha XS 11 Special that had straight 4 carburators. I stll have the vacuum unit that was used to hook up on each carburator with tubes to balance them and when engine is turned on you can see the mercury rising , then you can adjust all carburators to run eavenly. Still have it but need to place mercury in since i lost it when old rubber hoses got detoriated. If some one is interested , i can send the pictures. Anyway, Im following you fore a year since I got your videos poped on my searches.
I can really relate to this level of "rolling carcass" ... I once bought a 2-seat railroad track inspection car. A literal rolling table (4 wheels + chassis) with a pile of "these are all the rest of the parts" stacked on top. Pieced the whole thing back together over several months and got its Onan CCKB up and running. It's rolled several thousand miles on the rail now. One thing I can suggest with that rat's nest of wires : vibrations + crimped connections = broken wires at some point. You really want solder + heat shrink. Learned that fixing pinball machines (which are nothing BUT vibrations trying to destroy things). As for will thing thing go 120mph? On paper, yeah I bet. In practice, assuming it even held together, you'd have to be at least 10 cents left of completely nuts to even think of attempting it.
Enjoyed getting the Frankenstein POS to run!!! A suggestion for you when cleaning jets try getting yourself a set of torch tip cleaners. They’re essentially miniature round files. Way more efficient and effective than using wire bristles.
Watching you work on these machines makes me want to get mine working again. But I don't have a 1/4 of the knowledge that you have on these things. Great videos, and damn glad I found your channel to Sub to.
Joe..." Let's first check the oil, man, that really looks good." Ten minutes later, he's got it running despite the wiring looking like a rats nest, and the carbs have dinosaur sh_t in them. Your awesome
Man, this is cool. At first I thought it was an old 230 with the colors. But, man, you gotta be thinking about a pole building out back. Thats gotta be loud on those in the house haha.
No way dud I think she was gonna run as well as she did,300 dollars was perfect,a fair price,I think a lot of fun can be had with it,you could do a rebuild I suppose,be interesting to watch, cleaned up ,tidied up,and running sweet, someone will love it,I like it,can't wait to see if she rips😎
This is probably the best looking 4 cylinder swap I have ever seen. The best "common" swap I have seen is a Yamaha XT650 on a Banshee frame. but that is an easy swap compared to this monster.
Biggest problem is no airbox...... you,d get away with that exhaust. Bike engines are highly tuned , dont like filter resistance dissapearing. Its also to do with the volume of the airbox. Bikes you see running on open carbs are either tuned by pro,s or ridden by people who cant tell the difference
I've watched pretty much nothing but TH-cam for years. I watch anything from music videos to fishing videos. Check out Mustie1. He does some cool stuff to, no ad's or b.s.
I have a theory that there is 3 "Joes". Thats the only way he can pump out vids like this.

Bet his wife does some editing
That’s the one the spark plug was out on the motor. The one with low compression
He's got to have adhd and also employ a video editor
Average Joe clones
Love Your Situational Awareness, You saw Flames and You finished trying to start it OUTSIDE....... Priceless
He made that mistake before lol
He almost burned his garage down with an old KX dirtbike once.

Stayed tuned for the rest of the story........Great diagnostic skills Joe, can't wait to see you ride that one!!
Nice job! I can't wait to see this thing fly!
When you get down to the final setup, don't forget to balance your carbs, it can make a huge difference.
Exactly what I wanted to say.
Yea hes gonna have to sync them to really get it to bark like it should.@YouriCarma
Now you need to sync the carbs. It will run way more crispy if you do. I'd suggest the motion pro sync pro
The silencers on the exhaust are for 2 stroke dirt bikes and are probably a restriction for that large of an engine.
They look like F1 slipons that were popular in the late 80's for street bikes.
Even if they were the only restrictions are the size of the pipe that goes into the mufflers and the pipe inside the mufflers . Other than that you can run em on 4 strokes if wanted but only on like 50cc to like 100ccs depending on what the 2 stroke muffler was made for . You are the vice grip garage of the atv/dirtbike world, and I'm here for it!🤘
Good point! The haters should be kissin this guy’s ring after what we just saw. Been subbed for several years now and it never gets old
@billwalter9917 I just found this dudes videos last week as I'm having four wheeler issues. And I've done watched about 13 of his videos 😅 love it

I don't think luck has anything to do with it! You're a great mechanic.

Considering the power to weight ratio, if you get it dialed in right, I bet it's going to be a lot of fun.
I noticed the exhaust is not symmetrical looking from the back so when fixing the exhaust leak it might be something to look at but it is a pretty cool little machine. 😊
Thank you for taking the time to explain what you are doing in your videos!
It’s not a party until there’s some flames! 🤣 great job with this thing Joe 👍
Wow bro. I was 80 /20 that this machine would ever start . Dude you did good with pile of parts
You need to do a top speed run on her and see how realistic 120 is.
Also it’s crazy how you pop these videos out. It’s just awesome.
KZ750 was no slouch. Little brother of the KZ1000 that raced Superbike in the early 80s.

Great video Joe watching from Edinburgh Scotland UK 🇬🇧
Sussing the wiring issues on the last two videos have been well impressive Joe 👍👍
I really don't think the seller ever had this running. No chain, no clutch and all the messed-up wiring and etc... 👏
From now on every time one starts for the first time i need you to look at the camera and holler It's Alive, with the same expression as Jim Carry.
Don't forget!
Another great video Joe mate looking good but can't wait to see the Quad finished 👍
Another brilliant job Joe. Can’t wait to see this beast going for the first ride.
That is a beast of a machine and a great deal for $300. How much it cost to bring it back is another story. I think it would be a keeper for me but I'm glad to see it coming back all the same.
Another great diagnosis Joe! She seems like she’ll be a beast, so gear up for the first beat down!
don't forget to put oil in it before you try to start it.
They are missing donuts on the exhaust and content the air filter the have a meter to sync all four carbs
That thing is going to be a blast! I can’t wait for the next video.
love the Quadzilla, couple of months ago i saw one in germany, street legal(500cc) and nearly perfect condition for about 12k €, not even a bad price for this gem of history.

Really impressive display of talent and brains. Thank you.
Thanks for all the great family friendly videos, I really appreciate keeping it clean. Great job, totally approved.
LOVE watching your vids im learning alot at 57 yrs old...... keep the GREAT videos comming?
Well I'm amazed the Franken quads a runner, can't wait for that first ride. Thanks again for the videos.
Should get some JIS screwdrivers, game changer!
You can tell just by looking that he's not using them?

Wanna see an update on this rig! Bet it will be a ton of fun! Great videos as always and keep up the great work!
Is there a part two out yet? Dying to see this thing ride ready!
Thanks Joe, looking foward to then next video!

the laugh gets me every time lol...happy for you Joe!!
Couldn’t believe this “basket case” was salvageable when I first saw it. Great job getting her running 👍👍👍
That's a beast..extend swing arm make it a dragger..great job as always..b safe peace
I don't know if I'd take on an altered quad, but you have the skills. Thanks again for lots of teaching and learning moments

That’s not lucky! That’s being insistently consistent and not backing off. Great job!
don't forget new exhaust gaskets, check valve clearances & carb sync. Hope you topped off the oil 👍
I'm shouting at the screen. Check out the coil wires. But knowing you Joe. You haven't failed yet. Good job as usual.
When backfire occurs through carbs it's usually not timed right
And it´s stupid to try it again and again and again when that happens.
@@GettingNervousI've seen this guy do some good jobs but he's slightly gone down in my estimation.

How would low compression cause it to backfire through the cards?

Your perseverance is top notch, great job young man. Awesome video, it’s great to see you challenge yourself
You’re videos help a lot of people man even you walking through the wiring real quick could really save somebodies diy. Thank you
You are a master, I learn so much from watching these videos.
Can't wait to see the next video on this gonna be amazing, you pump out content like no tomorrow you should have so many more subs
I love these videos u guys remember when he had a street bike swap lawn mower thats my favorite video yet i love these rigged machines like these and fixes them
My new favorite channel to watch learning a lot too just started this video up love it!
120 mph with THAT short wheelbase would be a death wish.
Joe, that's an air-cooled engine, ya may want to set a box fan in front of the quad to help cool it. Great and entertaining video, well done.
Happy Days Joe Has Posted 🔥🔥🔥
As I recall, a KZ750 could barely hit 120. In a quad chassis.......not betting on it. Looks super fun regardless, I'd rock it.
