I loved this video; it brought back such good memories for me. My grandma (God rest her soul) LOVED her bread machine. She grew up making home made bread in a wood fired oven. She lived through the Great Depression with three children and a husband who found jobs hard to come by. She made fantastic home made bread but it was a long process. One Christmas one of my Aunts got Grandma a bread machine and SHE LOVED IT!! She made bread all the time and it was so easy. My grandma was the best cook out there, but none of us complained about her bread machine bread because SHE was so happy with it, lol. Home made is almost always best because you put your heart and soul into it, BUT as you age it sure is nice to find machines that can help in the kitchen. Now I wanna make some bread, lol. HUGS to you and your sweet family.

My Mom got me hooked on a bread machine many years ago. We use to watch it “do it’s thing” and would laugh about how we must have looked. 😂 I usually make a garlic herb bread. Sometimes the paddle gets stuck in the bottom of the bread but, you just cut or pull it out. Bread machines have changed over the years … there are some that actually make the bread to look like regular loaves as to the upright loaves. Have not tried the jam recipe yet. I have also made the dough for pizza. Have fun 🍞

My mom bought me a bread machine in 2000 and I loved to make raisin bread in it. Found out that the recipe called for raisins, used regular sunmaid and they were like rocks in my bread. My mom said use baking raisins and that bread was delicious. My dad was asking all the time if I made a new loaf. Great memories! Thanks for the comparison of both ways.

Hello Mrs Denman, I have loved a peace of the bread that you made because it looked like a really good French loaf with the crusty outside. I was imagining it sliced and made into delicious garlic and butter bread. I’m not a baker but I think I’ll try your recipe. God bless you and your family.

The 2 cycles of kneading on the bread machine develops the gluten in the bread. No kneading in the loaf bread results in a different texture. Try using traditional yeast (active dry) for better flavour. Instant yeast is flavourless in bread. I use my bread maker on the dough setting to do all the kneading etc and bake in pans in oven.

  • @peepla7
    @peepla7 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The type of oil doesn't matter....as long as its in there...makes the crust soft, the sugar feeds the yeast so dont go over 3 tablespoons max or it will grow out of the pan. Instinctively you added the liquid ingredients first....glad you did, but just so you know....thats very important. For cleaning that paddle comes off. Also get a crochet hook or a latch hook to put in your flatware drawer in case you need it if your breadmaker didn't come with a tool that looks like a hook...its to pull the paddle out of the bread if it dislodges and gets stuck in the bottom of the bread after baking. That happens a lot with wheat bread and dark loaves. The dough ball...if you machine doesn't pick up all the flour...add a little water, if to wet add a little flour. Proofing...your bread machine will go through 2 or 3 rises depending on type of bread....when it stops spinning (try not to open it for too long then) its heating up, it will do that 2x. Then bake. It beeps when done. Dont touch it before that...learned that the hard way. Its a non stick pan ...just turn it over. When you put the pan in or remove...turn it 1/4 to lock in place....your kids are beautiful...if you want a traditional size loaf.... machine makes artisian style.... You can cut the loaf in half then turn it side ways then slice like a normal loaf. Hope this helps

When the bread machine says it’s 90 minutes left, you take the dough out and take out the mixing padle, clean and oil spray the mold and bring back the dough. That way at the end it will unmold easily with only a small hole in the end.

I like using the bread machine. I tend to duck at making, or trying to make, homemade bread. I love making the bread that is like the steakhouse honey wheat bread. I have several recipes. The one that uses instant coffee, i can make it in the machine, or let the machine do the mix and rise, then i take it out, divide it and make small loaves or rolls and bake in the oven.
Your homemade bread looks great! Everyone looked happy to just eat fresh bread and help with the video!😂😂😂

Great side by side test Steph ! I don’t know what bead setting you had the bread machine bread on cause they make different crust with different breads , if you didn’t have it on homemade bread you might not have gotten the same crusty crunchy crust as your loaf pan made ! Plus the bread machine loaf was a 2 lb loaf and the loaf pan was only a 1 lb loaf approx. size I think! But like you said it’s a win-win either way and for a time saving advantage the bread machine makes a great loaf of bread! I add things to my bread also like herbs, or dried fruit and nuts , Aldi I use basic 4 cereal sometimes to my bread to make a variety for whatever I want to use the bread for ! And let the bread machine do the work for me 🤣!! Great video I really enjoyed it ! Oh and go on line and look up your model & type of bread machine and you can see what each selection of types of bread crust each selection makes , or actually PawPaw has a Manuel he got with the new bread machine he just received from a viewer and it probably tells the texture and crust of each selection of bread listed ! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈

Love hearing the crunch and seeing the airy inside of the non-bread machine loaf. I hope someday technology will come far enough along to provide a smell test function, but until then the “virtual” imagination test is pretty satisfying. I agree a bread machine provides a huge convenience factor. Choices/trade offs = options ❤

Stephanie I hope you will make more in your bread machine and there is box bread at Walmart you can buy that might give you some different flavors. But a tip for you I'm sure you read your instructions for your machine and though you could get away with just one knead cycle, I actually like to do it one more time. This ensures proper gluten formation for soft bread. Plus, if you "Spritz" the top of dough with water a few times to make sure the dough doesn’t dry out on top during rising. This is an optional step Stephanie, but also helps the crust to turn golden in the baking step. Have fun with bread making and I really hope you make more and different kinds.

Every bread machine I have had has a warming cycle. After it's done baking, it automatically goes into the warming cycle. Some bread machines will ask if you want it to do this. Some just do it. Their awesome machines. As you said, crusts are different. Next time, put the machine on dark, and it will have a more crunch to it. Their very versatile and can do many things other than just bread. I'm excited to try your homemade pan bread recipe. 🍞 🙂

Good afternoon Stephanie, Buddy, Conner and Elora. Love homemade bread but I don't do too well in the baking department. Both loaves looks almost the same colour wise and yes the bread maker bread is more dense and higher loaf but I would prefer the homemade loaf from scratch. Bread maker bread is fantastic if needed in a pinch real quick that is the way to go. If wanted could always add spices and herbs to either loaf mixing before baking. Thank for sharing. HAGD all.

I use my bread machine for the dough cycle which is an hour and a half on mine. This mixes kneads the dough the first time, and rises the first time. I then take it out, knead it just a few times, place in my bread pan, and bake it in my oven. So much easier on the hands.

My mom made bread a couple times a week when I was a child. Seven children to feed, cheaper and easier than running to the store. We always got one loaf when it was hot, fighting for the heel of the loaf. If you helped her when she was cooking, you got the heel. The butter didn’t go throw and get your hands dirty. One thing about the bread maker. You don’t have to use it to cook, you can mix different kinds and take it out and bake in to oven. Recipes online.

If you want to seal the crack, you can use baking soda and crazy glue to seal it and then file it.

    Home made anything is good.
We always made bread. Big batches. 10 in the family.
I still make bread. My son's prefer home made over store bought.
