The switch has nothing to do with PC. It's being recommended by public health officials and the armed forces. Figure these people have good reason to recommend so and the goal is to cut down on overall incidence of suicide and helping survivors and people who are at-risk of it get better.
@@eddiepanedi8561 It's all about trying to get people to realise that you actually die from an illness. People don't understand that your brain is (generally) not functioning normally when you do it. And the "commit" business is a hangover from when it was a criminal act, which is no longer the case.

I feel like Gayle King slipped that in there without thinking anyone would notice too much, but she was up on her soap box for 5 seconds about how saying "commit suicide" is a bad term to use. Unfortunately, unlike the non-existent term "commit cancer", suicide is something you do to yourself. It is undeniably a choice, perhaps spurred on by outside influences, but it is a choice. It is a commitment, too.
