I saw the movie today. Loved it. I don't generally have tears seeing movies, but it was only the second movie that made me have a grand total of 2 tear drops, 1 in each eye. And I love you Kristen.
I am totally happy with the ending, abby never looks at riley the way she looks at harper. And abby just met riley and they only known each other for like 4 days and some people want her to end up with riley at the end of the movie??? Yes, harper act badly sometimes but who doesn't? We are all toxic at some point of our relationship. The movie revolves more on harper not coming out and more on her family, we actually did not see how they started, how abby fell inlove with her, we really did not see how they are as couple when they are just the two of them. Would you not forgive someone you love who hurt you just because she is too afraid of showing her true self to her family? You should be first person to understand her, you should be the first person to trust her own process of when she's ready to come out. We all do poor decisions in life, so people should stop commenting like they are so perfect in a relationship like they never hurt someone at some point. Give harper a chance to make it up with abby. I'd be happy if riley will have someone also in the movie if there will be a sequel. I have watched the movie for like 10x
No, i actually wouldnt forgive them. Harper acted just cruel. You said [Abby] should be the first person to understand her, to trust her own coming-out process. But that goes both ways. Harper had every right to not disclose her sexuality or her relationship to her family. She had NO right to lead Abby into this. She should also understand how hurtful it must be to be expected to hide yourself. She should have told Abby long ago about her family. She could have asked Abby if she would be alright with coming home under these terms. But she told her literally in the last possible moment, not leaving Abby any chance to reconsider. This is not "a poor decision in life that hurts someone". Its a conscious decision not to tell Abby what is expected from her and not giving a shit about her well-being. I think Id actually be less harsh with this movie if it wasnt advertised as this feel good family-friendly gay christmas movie. It is a queer drama, a coming-out movie, a potentially retraumatising one for people that had similar struggles of being hidden. But a feel good film? Not in the slightest.
I'm honestly confused as to where did they get any indication that Abby liked Riley in that way. Uh. She never looked at her in that way. Not even once. I'm glad they didn't take that route. It's a pretty realistic situation that ended nicely. Also people saying Mac was a miscast is crazy. They have wonderful chemistry
