No 360p today as we finish our very first Bomb Disposal mission and unlock not one, not two, but three achievements in the process! We also level up our first squad members to Colonel, the highest rank in the game! Enjoy :) ► Full Playlist: goo.gl/B6XRdH
You might already be aware of this or it might have been said in another comment/video, but I'll type it anyway: Squadsight sniper > blue move > pistol overwatch (make sure you have at least one more unit that has an action point) > re-select sniper manually > switch weapon = Squadsight overwatch shot with one action point.
@@ObliviousTrash and shotguns usually have the highest crit chance out of all the weapons other than snipers using their ability and lets be honest, the AI doesn't crit nearly as often as players do, making resilience kind of worse off in all regards.
I think killer instinct makes more sense here. A lot of the times when we've seen run and gun + double tap used, it's a situation where, if the target doesn't die, bad things will happen. So for me killer instinct makes sense both offensively and defensively a good choice. It increases our threat range to kill mutons in one hit that Adam couldn't kill otherwise
While "Resilience" is good defence for this one soldier, "Killer instinct" may save much more poeple in situations like this from the clip. Cyberdisc are just around the corner to join the party!
Wow. 6 thin man drop in, only 2 are able to get a shot off, where one of those is guaranteed to miss. And everything you have to say about them is being "comfortably surrounded". smh I'd choose killer instinct. It sounds better, especially comparing to how often you use Run and Gun. :D
Great episode, and great tactical thinking! I 've never been so good at this game, forgetting who has what abilities to use, there's just so much to think about. Upgradewise: Adam never got hit so far and he has great ability to get away from danger, and since killer instinct would make him even more effective against high health enemies, I would go for the offensive option here.
I realize I'm late to the party, but my goodness that Thin Man blanket was something else. I'm blown away you managed to work your way out of that leaving little to chance
I was quite happy when I heard there was an achievement for 500 enemies killed. That means a lot more X-Com before the series ends! Keep up the great content Pete.
@@thesuperginge1348 I haven't played and the only other play through I saw lasted only a handful of episodes. So yeah I don't have much of a clue how much is left.

I realize everyone else has already said the same, but hey, this is the first time I’ve been caught up with one of your series and been able to have a say in anything, so - get killer instinct. Great video
in your mass effect 2 series you said that offence is the best way to survive the hardest difficulty of that game, i feel like that could apply to this game too. I was holding my breath the entire time when the aliens dropped down out of nowhere ! this series is so good, keep up the good work !
Oh fantastic Pete! I know I'm going back and reviewing the other episodes, but I had to pause to say I'm so proud of you! A successful Bomb Disposal mission, three achievements and three soldiers up to Colonel! The real rule of three, eh? I just want you to know, that ever since the Sims 3, I have watched and adored everything you've put out, it's all of such high quality! You should be very proud of yourself! Keep up the incredible work Commander!
Killer instinct will be my pick simply because the amount of armor/dodge you can stack on a character. The only way he will be hit with a crit would be if you left him in the open in front of a enemy. I have been watching your xcom playthroughs sense you started them and I am really enjoying them, keep up the great work.
I'd say go with Killer Instinct for Adam, so far your tactics have been very much on point so I wouldn't worry about extra defence. Loving the series so far!
19:38 And this is why I never play without the Sequential Overwatch mod anymore. I don't consider it cheating, more like patching an oversight, since XCOM 2 officialized the function.
fr lol. Knowing the ambush was coming, I was wondering why he was having such tight grouping on his OWs. Everyone dumping on that *one* Thin Man is really silly
From the future watching all of these consecutively, I really hope you went killer instinct. Huge against late game mech opponents with run and gun and double tap. Probably the best damage combination in the game.
Your style of play already makes it so your troops are rarely in a position to recieve critical hits and that won't change much as the enemies get harder, but once you start facing enemies with massive amounts of health, you'll need a soldier who can deal massive amounts of damage to compensate. So I'd say killer instincts
Hi again Pete, I just wanted to say I've made a decision on what you should take for Adam's promotion. Hearing your arguments for both, I have decided on Killer Instinct, because as you say, if you are confident that Adam can survive quite a lot, even further into the game, then I trust your judgement and if you can keep getting high chance criticals, then that could turn the tide of a battle with more damage. After all, if you need to take out a hostile with high health, then more damage could be the difference between flawless victory or losing a colonel. That's just my thoughts though, but I hope they helped!
Best episode so far ...you are a legend my guy ... I have more fun watching then playing ...but I choose Resilience. Killer instinct is great but he already deadly the way you use him so keeping Adam Pigman Work alive is extremely valuable to your squad.
I think with the high HP enemies you will encounter later (or soon?), killer instinct will be more valuable. honestly, if your tactics weren't so sound, I'd say go with resilience. But you usually have a backup plan, if you put him significantly in harm's way.
Since everyone is already advocating for Killer Instinct, I'll play a sort of pseudo-Devil's Advocate, and talk >Against< Resilience. Full disclosure, while I've played through Xcom completely with all the DLCs, I've never done an ironman mode, and I've absolutely never even touched Impossible level. Having said that: The benefit of Resilience is predominately that your assault will never receive a critical shot from being flanked, which ostensibly allows/encourages aggressive positioning to take advantage of it, or otherwise is just a quietly passive reassurance in the back of your head that if things go haywire and the shit hits the fan, no chance to be criticaled can ever Murphy's Law its way into one of your soldiers through sheer force of Quantity. That unanimously sounds like a horrible idea to me. In the first place, while it guarantees that neither normal nor flanking attacks will ever critical, that ignores the fact that cover Defense not only prevents critical flank shots, but also >provides improved odds to not get hit in the first place
As someone who would have completed Ironman Impossible were it not for a save file corruption; your reasoning behind someone taking Resilience is flawed. The reason you take it is that you have a high casualty rate and want to be damn sure your high end soldier is going to stay alive long enough to get someone else up there with them. Or you've got Training Roulette on and a nearly indestructible sniper is hilarious. Resilience is not a tactical choice, it is a strategic one.
Very nice series, I like it :) I think Killer Instinct is the better option just because you are "spamming" Run&Gun and on top of that you have the Rapid Fire perk giving you one more shot to land a critical hit.
I would too agree to have Adam Killer Instinct. I would like to comment something, you claim we had a little bit of luck, I take that as a sarcasm personally ;) You see, when I watch you playing the game, it looks like a walk in a park. But from my personal experience, this is a hell of a ride. I don't know if it's truly RNG or your experience, but damn Pete... This looks way too easy and I'm afraid that eventually, there will be a disaster. But of course, good luck, good job and keep the series going, they are great!
I always went with Resilience for my assaults on Ironman. Then again, you approach this game much more carefully than me (15-20 minutes to think about the last move in the ambush...) For you, Killer Instinct for sure; you seem to be good at avoiding mistakes.
I say Killer Instinct, as you said, Run & Gun is used in like 90% of the missions, upgrading it to kill threats with even bigger health bars would make it even better to use.
I think that majority goes for killer instinct - and I would also vote for this ability. The Run&Gun is used almost in every mission and it will definitely help with the tougher enemies that are awaiting for us.
For a careful player like yourself ,Pete , killer instincts will be much more useful. The unit will eventually become super useful against tougher enemies .
Tough decision at the end of the episode but I think in the end Adam should get the slightly more offensively minded Killer Instinct ability considering his run and gun is frequently our best and sometimes our only answer to well defended enemies. While the immunity to critical hits is nice, he should ideally never be at risk for those hits to begin with. If we are taking the risk on the run and gun with him he has to be all in on that. Besides, if we can kill the enemy he's flanking it won't be able to shoot him for a critical hit.
Killer Instinct, he's been ruthless so far and it'll make him even better, YOU make the defense issue fine with your excellent play so I think make him stronger.
I'm of the mindset that the best defense is the good offense; Killer Instinct gives you the potential to use Run and Gun to kill any enemy in the game with one turn, provided both hits score the critical result. That can turn some overwhelming positions against you into an even fight. However, the defensive option allows you to recover from some otherwise fatal situation: Adam becomes bait, and intentionally soaks damage, and since he will never get crit he is likely to survive almost anything. This is protection from death in the unexpected ambush situations, or lets you use Adam to flank aliens recklessly and get the kill while ensuring he takes damage but does not die on the subsequent turns. The problem with the above, though, is all that kind of strategy is far more reckless than Impossible should allow, and is not as professional as your playstyle typically is, and will pretty much guarantee Adam is not the guy to make it to every mission. So, while these aren't the best arguments that can be made, because there are better arguments if we fleshed out literally every detail of the choices available, hopefully this is enough to give Killer Instinct the win, and hopefully Adam never needs the crit immunity to survive the future.
Killer Instinct, because I think you've used it in almost every episode since you unlocked it. And every time you've used "Run and Gun" the thing you were trying to kill needed to die. So it'll get a lot more use and hopefully keep your options open during missions.
With how detailed the game has been so far, I'm quite confused that the bombs weren't actually artifacts recovered... Kinda weird, but not that important.
Idk what the enemies in the future are going to be like but up until now Adam has had decent damage output with his shotgun at point blank range. A defensive bonus would enable him to "defuse" more enemy over watches and get into flanking positions which inherently have a good crit hit chance. It really depends on the upcoming enemies he is going to face
I believe your build on the assault is on the offensive side. Since he has rapid fire, taking killer instinct is a no-brainer. If you shred a target and then use this guy he could almost take down a cyber disc or a sectopod in a single round of rapid fire.
I personally say Killer Instinct for 3 reasons. 1: You use Run and Gun enough to make it worthwhile. 2: Pigman is already a tanky bastard and the added defence would probably be overkill 3: A dead X-Ray does no damage, so Killer Instinct doubles as a defensive tool for the entire squad.
Note that when poisoned, a unit only takes damage if it moves. If you're willing to sit still until the medic arrives or the poison wears off, you can avoid damage. You can shoot and overwatch as needed, you just can't move.
I think resilience would be better for the achievement since he's already defensive and getting that would only increase it's chances to survive until the end
I think resilience fits your play style appropriately. Assaults damage never really has a detrimental fall off. The extra 50% critical damage only adds at most what, 4 damage? 5 damage? resilience can prevent an absolute ton of damage from the disk and what not.
killer instinct will come in very handy as soon as the aliens field more tanky units. a huge dmg, double shot, run and gun move will probably be more than a livesaver in more than a few instances. i'll definitly advise going for killer instinct here.
Voting for Killer Instinct - while the hits are definitely coming to your team, he is almost always run and gunning which is a huge damage bonus throughout the run.
If Adam keeps his special ammo stuff equipped or his crit chance improves with the better weapons, I think Killer Instinct would be worth it. If not or if he rarely attacks very beefy targets with the intention to one-shot them, taking a little less risks sounds pretty dope

Killer instinct, there is also a poll function in TH-cam to make such things easier.
I think you should do killer instinct for better attacks in the future. And you could still upgrade his defence in other ways.
Would you ever consider playing dwarf fortress? Right up your alley with rimworld.
killer instinct is more useful to this character build.

You use Run & Gun nearly, if not every, episode. Go killer Instinct.
100 percent agree, run and gun is a main stay for Adam.
No better defense than an enemy with too few heads to aim properly ;)
Resilience only makes sense in Damage Roulette games. Killer Instinct is a mainstay.
Killer instinct.
There are far more circumstances in which and extra 50% to crit chance will come in handy than resistances to crits
Its not chance. Im pretty sure its 50% more dmg from crits
@@ObliviousTrash and shotguns usually have the highest crit chance out of all the weapons other than snipers using their ability and lets be honest, the AI doesn't crit nearly as often as players do, making resilience kind of worse off in all regards.
