Awesome video. I was telling my girlfriend that it would be awesome to be in a plane during the fourth and it's cool to see it here. Thanks for the upload!
You guys landed on 25L. The 4th of July is legitimately a 360 degree wall of SOUND. Non stop explosions. Knowing that they're fireworks, and people are celebrating is what makes it very cool. :) This goes on looooong into the night, and into the next few days. I was wondering what it looked like from the air. Thank you for posting this.
Exactly what I was looking for. We were driving down the 710 to Long Beach from the Dodger game and it was like World War. So much for an illegal firework ban. Explosions over the freeway the whole trip. Wild! Your video really brings it into perspective.
This has got to be the best LAX landing video! I’ve seen far too many- and posted a few on my channel. This one is absolutely amazing - thanks for posting this- it’s gonna get tons of views.
Great job Brian! My roomie and I were talking about LAX approach on the 4th and here you did it. An extra thanks for 4K HDR. Looked great on the TV. Loved how it kept building as you went further west and showing SoFi helped final orientation, downtown did too. Joe
If you're impressed by this, you should look up LA fireworks from helicopters during the covid lockdown. There were at least 2x as many everywhere, even though there were supposed to be none. lol. It was insane.
Thanks so much for sharing this. Always wondered what it would look like flying over a major city on 4th of July night. I wonder what it would look like from space or the ISS. haha Great work here. Thanks again. Lifted my spirits.
That opening scene was supposedly inspired by the refineries in Carson a bit south along the 405 freeway. Methane(?) flames burning from elevated pipes, for example.
I live in the LA area. Anything that goes into the air is not only illegal to buy and sell and subject to a fine, but also expensive. Think like $50 to $100 a pop. Some of my neighbors couldn't understand how others could afford it with the price of things this year. It was somewhat subdued compared to other years... But it is always awesome
They ain't shopping in the right places then. If you buy them from someone selling them in Cali, then yeah, you might get jipped. But a little drive to Nevada or Arizona, and you'll find tons of these for cheap. Probably get about 10 to15 cakes for under 200 depending on how you budget.
HAHA! The twist: this is actually footage of any given night on the streets of LA! JK. This is very cool to see and I’m glad these folks are out celebrating and having a good time. Hope they were safe about it. Probably not worth the wildfire risk, but what are you going to do?
Hate to say it, but most of those folks take advantage of any excuse to blow stuff up. It's August 8, and it still sounds like a war zone here every weekend. The police don't even both to follow up anymore.
All that "thin, low cloud" you can see is actually smoke from fireworks. Yes it hangs around for days. Yes you can smell it for days, yes it messes your health up for days (especially if you have allergies anyway). Ask me how I know.
Those bright flashes are titanium salutes, the ones you feel in your chest at the fireworks show. Even where consumer fireworks are legal, those are not, entirely different classification of explosives which requires a license to purchase. Definitely a healthy black market.
Watching ILLEGAL fireworks is not something I’d boast about proudly. Those were ALL done in neighborhoods-where small animals are terrified by the noise, often to the point of DEATH (Chihuahuas in particular!). Many neighborhood fires often START due to irresponsible idiots using fireworks bought in Tijuana and brought into the States illegally or on the dark web from China. I had a neighbor who bragged about burning down a "bad neighborhood," during his use of illegal fireworks outside OUR properties! And here he was doing it again and claiming he caused a fire that killed several small dogs and almost one cat-thank G-d THAT neighbor was home and grabbed his child and their family kitty, Ozzy, a 17-year old beloved boy by the whole now demolished neighborhood. So please take this video down in respect of the firefighters who work hard to SAVE properties like those below, sometimes totally DEMOLISHED by irresponsible knotheads!

Wowww. This was awesome. The whole freaking city is lit with fireworks. I loved it. Thank you for sharing and happy 4th of July.
You’re welcome. And happy (belated) 4th!
Thanks for sharing. This is great.
Your pilots just logged combat hours
I love how you can easily tell the residential areas apart from the commercial/industrial areas based on where the fireworks are going off.

Even more impressive considering that fireworks are illegal in Los Angeles, unless at designated fireworks shows.

Kinda got a dystopia retro1982 film blade runner beginning movie credits vibe from this.

smog too on other days.
the summer heat causes an inversion, trapping smog under a warm layer of air.

All the bright flashes tword the end are titanium salutes.
Cool video but didn't see many of the professional displays. Or else they simply aren't that visible from 5,000.- 10,000 feet agl?

My town was one of the only ones that had zero fireworks. lol

I'd be curious to know at about what time that evening that this was recorded.

What type of 737 max is that?
What Aircraft is this
It’s United airlines. Boeing 737-800 or 737 Max 8/9
Yeah, not sure the aircraft, but it was United Airlines from BOS to LAX.
Thats look like 737 MAX because the winglet
is this sped up? why the fireworks go out so quick?
I miss plane rides for the announcements after landing....😅 well over due fer1
10:00 At this point, the pilots must IFR into LAX due to smoke accumulating from fireworks.
