  • Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Hamilton to march through the streets to mark Red Dress Day.
The event takes place every year on May 5, and is also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People.
The event originated in 2010, when Métis artist Jamie Black initiated the Red Dress Project installation, in which she hung red dresses to represent the missing and murdered people.

And who is responsible for the missing and murdered indigenous women? Indigenous men.

Exactly, it bugs me how they talk about this issue like there's some secret conspiracy behind it

Nice to see Canadians rallying for an issue that actually affects Canadians, instead of foreign lands

But it’s all lies though. The Natives need to hold their own men accountable. That’s who is killing them.

@@DustinG007 how do they do that, when police don't even enforce banishment orders? Federal crimes (like murder) are still federal jurisdiction. There is no "native jail". The unfortunate reality is that police often just look the other way to these crimes, with the exact justification you're giving. But they don't have the power to "hold their own accountable". They don't have prisons. They don't have a criminal justice system.
Each and every one of these cases is complex, and can't be reduced to "oh natives are just letting murderers walk". That's a ridiculous take if you really believe that.
I'm not sure what's 'lies' either. Like I understand your opinion otherwise, and I get feeling that way... But there wasn't any lying about anything here.

@@agxryt that was a long winded speech about nothing.
It is fact that RCMP solve Native murders at a 3% better rate than white women.
Guess who murdered all the Native women. The Native men.
The Natives need to hold themselves accountable for their own actions. The narrative around the country is pretty obvious that they are pointing the finger at “da whit man”. But he didn’t do it. RCMP stats show it’s the Native men.
Police do not over look any of these murders. That’s a lie.
Mass graves around the country. That’s a lie.

Who is normally involved in these disappearances? Indiginous men.
Hopefully they learn to hold each other accountable.
Hopefully the rest of Canada's women can join in one day. At least this is an issue effecting Canada. Refreshing to see.
