The update is free, that doesn't mean getting the item is. You can get STP Metals in the game without paying for them so technically you can still work for the clothes. They weren't gonna just hand them over to ya. If you decide to spend money on getting them then you can.
Xenocerse 2: Adds a new currency to the game to buy new and colorable clothing. Also Xenoverse 2: Makes it so that you have to pay and *only* pay to get the new currency.

Or, they should make a hard mode on expert missions where the bosses have festive ai, then the tp medals you usually get become stp medals. Ik that sounds hectic but it would be better than what they're giving!

at least it was clothes and something not needed for pvp or even pve. seems to be the saving grace to these microtransactions unlike other games
