Rex Viper LIVE 2024: James Rolfe Has Learned a New Stage Move!!

- In this video I break down the 2024 Rex Viper performance that took place in Toronto, Canada, at the "Fan Expo Weekend". The band that makes "work out music for nerds", still suffers from some of the same problems that we've seen at all other performances. There are some surprises however, such as James Rolfe's new stage move, "The Frog Stomp", and some improvements with the lead guitarist.

Bro that pause after the singer asks if everyone's ready to party tonight is the ultimate spinal tap moment
I live pretty close to Toronto and can confirm that during the Rex Viper performance stray cats began walking in circles and hissing uncontrollably.
hahahahahaha
😂
They wouldn't sound so thin if Justin were still on stage with them.
@@waderoberts3701 the band were never the same after he left 😞
Yes they had a heavier sound before.
I like how James is the only reason the band is famous and yet he’s the only one cut out of the video
They aren't famous
As a working DJ. I'm fully aware of my stage performance and equipment presentation. I don't wanna be like James, ever.
Rex Viper is the equivalent of a teenager cover band in dad's garage.
I've been around. I remember Nintendo band covers since the early 2010s. The neskimos were my first experience- mixed well, and the band was in the pocket.
To this day, I get ads for concerts with the same concept- charging serious money, and sound tight.
The only way I'd attend a Rex Viper show if it was a Two drink minimum at a dive bar I happen to walk into a bar at a random Tuesday in Philly.
@@Mpresley83 that was such a great time to be alive. And there were amateur-ish bands too. But they played with a passion for performance & entertainment. Not to inflate their ego's with subpar execution. The Megas were fun. The OneUps, still listen to them. And a few years ago I discovered 8-bit big band. Now that's some prime kino music! If I ever get a chance I will definitely see them live!
@@JosephBlackYes! That's what people who criticizes Rex Viper are trying to say: give credit where credit's due and James' band doesn't deserve any... to know that there were and are a lot of passionate, talented bands that really loves music while Rex Viper is Rex Viper is just insulting to music itself and to our intelligence.
@@redacted2275 100% my problem with Rex Viper. I don't mind beginners or amateurs. We all had to start somewhere. But they are cutting line under the AVGN name. And have absolutely nothing to show for it.
Erin lives in a house of madness.
The McDonald's meals and Muhtei's shlong are worth it though
gat d pic was stolen, not his
When the bass player comes out, takes a set list out of his pocket, unfolds and drops it in front of him, you know you're in for a great time.
Especially when they only do like 10 songs max
yeah i also noticed the set list drop lol
A band that doesn't realize how bad they are might be the worst kind of second hand embarrassment to exist
Also lead singer still raiding his deceased grandmother's wardrobe. Where else did he find that leopard print jacket
he friggin loves that jacket, he wore a variation of it in their last show
@@DancingwithGhosts Guy wouldn't be out of place as a custom character in the Rock Band games, pretty certain there's several pieces of leopard print clothing that you can use.
He's British. I wouldnt expect much from him.
The fact that they still get booked at these conventions amazes me but maybe not because it is 2024
We’re getting closer and closer to finally seeing the sign:
PUPPET SHOW
AND REX VIPER
Spinal Tap Rex Viper edits/memes would be so good
British James is hammered, I think. @4:55 goes to open a water bottle, but can't, so he pounds A bitch claw.
lol yeah i noticed that was a white claw... oof.. good god
how do you FAIL to open a Dasani?!
The frog stomp, classic 😂. I’ve not been on a stage in 20 years, but I remember doing a battle of the bands thing in Manchester in the early 90’s and our singer decided on the spur to jump into the throng, landed badly on someone’s vomit, slipped and whacked his head off the deck, then tried unconvincingly to front it out as part of the act, like ‘fuck yeah, punk man’ 😂. Driving back up to Edinburgh with poor Neil asking to pull over every 15 mins so he could be sick again wasn’t fun. Honestly, the sheer calamity of being in a band, it’s tough man 😅. Btw having heard some of your bands music, I like some of it, you’ve some good songs and you’re obviously a talented guy, I guess this your side gig, the way things are now with music, and getting paid, that’s smart. My band, different incarnations of it, ran from 1984 to 1997, by which time I was 32 and admitted defeat. We were definitely in a vain with your tastes, trying to do fuse our love of then contemporary electronic stuff coming out of Europe, with heavy metal I guess, sort of what queensryche ended up being I guess, the only difference being we never wrote an operation mindcrime. 😂 I’ll be 59 in November and have just started rehearsing with some guys locally just for fun, covers, after all these years I just missed playing, and now there really is nothing else to it, the ambition of youth is long gone. Rehearsing an industrial rock version of Floyd’s welcome to the machine currently, have to say it’s sounding epic. We won’t get booked at weddings but hey call it an expensive hobby.
It just aint the same without Justits
This band went downhill after Justin left the band
This band was never uphill
@@OldOneShoeJustin was the hill
But their van can now drive up hills.
@MR.Bungle909 he had the gravitational pull that kept it all together
Temu Vanilla Ice was muh favorite
I Suggest That Corey Feldman's Next Album Should Be Called And Named Either " The Coreyhole" Or Just "Coreyhole."
Christ imagine this following up Cybertronic Spree. They do what Rex Viper wishes they could
i kept calling them The Polyphonic Spree (an indie band), that's why I had to make those awkward edits lol
For being around for a few years, always seems like they barely even practice together other than the night before a concert
100%.. no time
J-Roc Baby!
Hah yes!!! I was pretty excited to see the cut to some classic TPB
Ok when the singer did his mic check I legit thought he was about to break into a rap flow. It would’ve been disastrous, but man it would’ve been amazing
Has Justin been kicked out of the band? Or did the airline not have seats that could accommodate him and he didn't want to pay for a first class seat and chose not to go?
Brutally obvious that they’re an inexperienced band that rarely plays together.
I have seen a band set up and tear down their gear before and after playing a kickass show. And that band was ANVIL. Embarrassing? Yes. But in character? Absolutely. Those poor dudes are too old for that shit and really need a roadie.
When James unleashed the 'Frog Stomp' to the world it was a special moment. Reminded straight away of when Michael Jackson first revealed the Moonwalk on that live Billie Jean performance. Same kind of vibes. Pure electricity.
😂Jimmy 'Big Jerky' Rolfe should breakdance onstage to Rex Viper's cover tune of Korn's BBK.
Thanks for your ongoing service. Rex Viper is truly... special.
What were they thinking?!
🐸🐸🐸Frog stomp! 🐸🐸🐸
Can you and your band cover a rex viper song?
oh man, I can totally relate to Dino, my midi controller once failed me on the middle of a show but this time everyone was so hype and high that they started the song and only realized there was something wrong when the intro was lacking my ethereal pads lol smh
There not lowering the key because they dont know how to lol
lol exactly
First the Duck Walk, then the Frog Stomp--it stands to reason that there should be a progression to some new Move soon, and WTH, I'm calling it now: The Donkey Squat o_0
Hey, both Die Warzau and Celldweller had to clean up after themselves and it gave me an opportunity to say hi and thank them for their great shows. Didn’t make me think less of them.
The guy on the nord lead and the drummer could have a halfway decent band together if they ditched, but selfishly I hope they remain a band so I can continue to enjoy these breakdown videos.
It looks like James was doing jumping jacks without moving his arms. They play workout music for nerds so maybe that's what he was going for lol.
Bimmy must have watched Ray gun at the Olympics and got inspired
I’ve been enjoying Rex Viper roasts for a while and this is the first time I’ve heard the singer speak. I had no idea he was British
Bimmy & The Slobs
I always played in small venues and I always set up and picked up my own gear lmao
yes, as i said in the video, this is normal for smaller bands or smaller venues.. not for the guy who invented the "angry review guy" archetype.. seems like he should be able to afford help (not the screenwave type of help)
@@DancingwithGhosts imagine "I roadie for AVGN"
Awesome Vid!
Thank You very much for Your Work! Greetings from Germany
Who's very Worst Live ?
Corey Feldman or Rex Viper
god that is the hardest question.. and it's been asked multiple times.. and i cannot think of a definitive answer
11:49
This wasn't a problem when Justin was in the band
Lol Don't blame you for simping for Erin. She was great as Mandi in the AVGN movie
Great job with another Rex Viper takedown...I honestly am surprised they are still doing appearances to be honest. It's beyond cringe at this point and just sad.
James does the Frogstomp to subliminally communicate the fact that their pleasantly plump friend isn't onstage... you're gonna wait til fatboy, fatboyyeeee, wait til tomorrow
The band packing their own shit with JRoc MC’ing in the front is peak irony. I’m shook. They all look like they don’t wanna be in the same room together.
Who else would pay to see a Battle of the Bands... Rex Viper vs The Corey Feldman Experience? 😂
Thank you for being the only channel that covers that shit biscutt of a band 😂
lmao that J-Roc clip was perfect
Hey! I'm Justin!
I love me some Rex Viper! 😆
I love James but I am just bathing in cringe, oh my god the doosh chills
Oh good god. Another Rex Viper video. I don’t like what James is doing now but I do like James. I just hope he’s making his money.
Edit: the British lead singer isn’t the British guy on the LJN episodes is he?
nope
@@DancingwithGhosts damn it
That level of scream without proper technique, he is going to ruin his vocal cords in a couple of years.
I kinda feel bad for this type of singers because there a lot of good tutorials and teachers in the web than can teach him to do it. It feels like a bit of laziness tbh
yep.. the only thing he has going for him is the 1 show they play every year instead of a normal band that tours and plays out frequently
He's for sure gonna have nodules REALLY soon if he keeps that up smh
At least the oil drum of mayonnaise wasn't there.
that j-roc drop was tiiight, knowwhati’msayin?! haha yr rex reviews are the best 🙏🤘
This shit never gets old 😂
6:40 🤣 lmaooo is he trolling!??!
I have long dreamed of Rex Viper going on before a band with actual talent and when I saw they were opening for Cybertronic Spree, my jaw dropped because dreams do come true.
I personally really don’t care if I see a band set up/pack up their own gear, but I guess I’m from a different world being from the DIY punk scene where it’s a necessity!
In regard to Rex Viper; they seem to be in a rather unenviable position. They’re total beginners but due to James’s previous internet fame, their sucky nascent stage has been highlighted for all to see. As you know already; you only get better by rehearsing and gigging frequently which they don’t seem to be doing at the moment, but who knows, maybe in a couple of years and with a bit of experience under their belt, they may become a half decent band?*
*Emphasis on “half”
Maybe they should add Michelle Matei to the band. He can dress up as Loco Bandido.
8:08 No time
The most important Band in history😂
🐯🤙RV - Recreational Vee-heckle is BACK BABY!!!
😂Now, I wish Bustin' Justin could be back with RV back also!
I've actually seen that Frog Stomp move once before. It was by a little known band called The Mr. T Experience in their video for a song called And I Will Be With You. They actually perform a 2 man Frog Stomp which really helps to sell the effect
It’s good to call this out. The effort they still put in is disrespectful to the event.
disrespectful to "Fan Expo Weekend" oh settle down there
Yeah it's very disrespectful. The band is being paid to perform and they once again were not prepared. @@SynthCool
the line check gave me an awful flashback to 2010 ish... was playing keyboards at a gig in an Irish bar (1 hr 45 mins ish) and the Soundguy never put them through the Monitors, just the FOH so i had to do everything by sight 🤣
Another great video. Happy birthday btw!
Bex Diaper is not horrendious at all... they are just missunderstood
Ahh, the frog stomp! When your hands are full so you can't get flappy, this is the next best option - stimming jumping jacks!...and good god are you right about them keeping Blames in the dark. I wonder if he actually asked for that himself, or if someone in the band made this decision in an effort to thwart the Truthers.
I know you said you didn't want to go here... But, Rex Viper provides!
I would LOVE to go to a Rex Viper show just so in between songs when it quiets down I can yell "This is fucking AWFUL!" 😂
Ehh...that would be rude, lame and awkward...
@@illuminatedGaming33 So is Rex Viper
@@AnneHathawayRulesOf course...they're absolutely terrible. But It's still rude and lame to yell out that someone sucks when it gets quiet.....just my opinion. Maybe it's how I was raised.
@@illuminatedGaming33 you don't seriously think I'm actually going to go to the show and do that do you? I was just trying to be funny for Christ's sake.
How did that go for you?@@AnneHathawayRules
6:40
Just had to timestamp it so i know im not insane
If only James got to trot around the stage in a cardboard Transformer outfit like the Cybertronic Spree.
Been waiting for this 😂
I feel like if they did have roadies people would clown on them for that.
At least they break down their own set.
Honestly shocked they're using wedges as well, in-ears are not that expensive, most of the immobile members (drums and keys at minimum) can use wired in-ear amps, etc. It would make the stage sound much better.
Honestly looks like most of the band other than the singer doesn't really move beyond a small designated space, could prob have wired in-ear amps for everyone and then splurge on wireless Shure in-ear pack for the lead singer.
No time to learn how to actually operate those
oh Godddddd... I actually laughed at out at the 'frogstomp'. Woof that was bad.
0:50 lmso the most anemic "whoooooo" in existence 😂
This is delicious
I swear Mr Lead Guitar strings his guitar like its a righty.
I would change Rex’s Diaper, but I just don’t have the time
Rex Diaper Wiper
omg!!!!!! hahahahah i'm here to simp!
bahahahah senpai noticed meee
@@DancingwithGhosts omg, I dont know if you remember, but when I first joined your live streams I would always type "notice me senpai!" You would often comment "I notice you "
It's StickerBUSH Symphony.
Sounding thin live? Justin your up!!!!
Lol I had deja vu of when Mike was live streaming with his previous/then new GF at the time and he read my chat saying she's a lovely gal or some such shit to which he replied " Thanks....😒"
Interesting that Cheap Trick themselves never seemed to actually play mighty wings live. Maybe cause its so hard to pull off on vocals in general?
Bimmy should never wear leather pants.
EVER!!!
First the duck walk. Then that weird stage jump. Now the frog stomp. Why does he do these acoustic things on stage?
These videos remind me of RLM but with music expertise instead of film.
Happy birthday!
BIMMY BIMMY
I mean they seems had better performance than that dustborn band
Dustborn is somehow more cringe than Rex Viper. Far more cringe
they've successfully managed the transition from woefully bad to just pretty shit
i can agree with that actually!
Hmmm see Rex Viper or see X. Ill be with all the old punk rockers at X. Which my wife and I are.
X rules. Enjoy it
9:04 Funny how it uses the Powerpuff Girls font
Maybe it's just because I had been drinking all day in preparation for the concert, but they sounded... I don't wanna say "good"?... they sounded a lot less shitty than I anticipated 😂
1:43 At first I was like...where is Bimmy??? oh there he is! Must have been the leapard print camo or whatever it is hes wearing.
It's unfortunate to see what happened to James. He was beloved during his first 8-10 years on TH-cam. But now he's been hated over the past decade. He went from Nerd to turd.
people who stay too long at the party...
I wonder if the band realized yet that Bames lied on his application and can't play guitar, that's why he keeps his amp volume on 2 so you can't hear him.
