Star Fox: Assault was my FAVORITE video game in my childhood and was a thousand times better than Star Fox Adventures. I used to play the heck out of this game a thousand times, not gonna lie. I remember I made it ALL THE WAY to the Aparoid Queen's lair and defeated her. My most favorite in the game was definitely the Arwing missions and the Star Wolf dogfight, especially facing off against the Aparoid Queen, Oikonny, the Aparoid-turned Pigma, and Wolf. I also enjoyed saving General Pepper. All of the Arwing missions were absolutely fun! I didn't really like the on-foot missions very much, but I did enjoy driving the Landmaster and driving over my foes with it! I also liked how I encountered the Aparoid {who shot at Krystal} and had to take it down. My most memorable part was when Star Fox had a brief team up with Wolf and his team in the massive Aparoid Tunnel! I've played Star Fox 64, Star Fox 64/3D, Star Fox Adventures and Star Fox: Assault when I was young back in the day. All of these games were AWESOME and Assault had the BEST-looking, most GORGEOUS realistic-looking CGI graphics out of all of the games! The GameCube's graphics were REALLY taken up to 11 here and Assault proves it!
Quite underrated from its mixture of land, sky, and space combat, but I do think that the original storyline that they kept through continuing SF: Adventures really does it justice. Only problem now lies in the fact that they've nullified this story through the reboot with SF0.
This brings back memories of the time I played Star Fox 64 with my dad back in 2005, but the Andross from Nintendo 64 scared me the most😰 But the Andross from Star Fox Zero didn't scare me at all, It was good action, but I still have nightmares about the Andross from Nintendo 64😢
I wish we could get a new StarFox game like Assault, it is what a good sequel should be, it has a lot of classical StarFox elements and has expanded on them in ways that make sense. New faces like Krystal and Panther joining the teams are refreshing, and Beltino Toad helping the universe seem bigger than just the same 12 or so people. The only other game in the series that did this well was StarFox 2, and that was only belatedly released a couple years ago.
I'm going to be honest here, I felt like this was one of the BETTER Starfox games. I didn't like Adventures or Command, Adventures was basically Dinosaur Planet with Starfox pasted on to it, and Command didn't make me feel free or think about the game I was playing, always rushing to complete the objective before time ran out. I hope Starfox for Wii U will have that excitement and atmospheric feel that Starfox has given to all of us.

Though I will say I wish the on foot sections where a little different. I kind of half thought it would be more like 007 Everything or Nothing. In which you can wall cover and possibly pull some stealthy moves but with Star Fox characters. Then again when has Star Fox ever really done stealth.

Trivia: In the Japanese version of the game, the characters faces have more animation during the mission briefing scenes, such as blinking, and eyebrow movement and the scene where the Aparoid attacks Krystal actually has it attacking Slippy instead.
You can battle on foot and enter vehicles when you need to, really awesome! Although I don't know why Andross didn't appear in the first mission, and why did oinkonny used his robot to impersonate Andross?

TheDutchGhost - fox just moved to fast and there is not a lot of options. You point and shoot while feeling like Fox is on ice skates... typing that makes it sound awesome but it is not. I was really hyped for this game and having bought it twice throughout my life I can say that this game is just too much of a mix bag. They should of had 80 percent on ship and 20 everything else. As it stands now, it is a 40 percent ship, 60 percent everything else
Just imagine if Gamecube actually was a DVD-based console, yikes! So many games (especially from Nintendo) were obviously heavily compressed for just to fitting everything in a GC disc with a capacity 1.5GB instead of 4.7GB with DVD's. It's no secret that GC is quite much more powerful than PS2, just check out the differences on RE4 + Capcom openly claimed that GC was much more capable. But unfortunately alike with that N64 were massively hampered by Nintendo's crippling fear of piracy, so because of it they went for cartridges on N64 and mini DVD's on Gamecube...

This game is by far the worst entry in the series... i tried to beat it 5 times by now, and every time i get so unbeleavable bored with the first two ground missions... i just stop it there every time. The worst addition to the series ever... ground mission bullshit. EDIT: SF1+2 and 64 are epic, but Assault and Zero are massive bullshit.
