I followed all of Bleu's advice, I went into my exam after a 15 month program and an additional 6 months of 20 hours per week studying on my own. The day of the exam I was slightly nervous but felt extremely confident that I knew what I needed to know to pass my exam. The exam was difficult but every question that I needed to refer to my coding books, I knew exactly where to go to find my answers. Upon my last domain, the scenarios I ended up with 30 minutes left to complete those questions. The CCS has a first time pass rate of 63%, and I was determined I was going to fit in that category. When I walked out it was a sigh of relief, I knew I did it! If you put in the time and the work and continued learning in this profession, you will succeed. The AHA handbook is incredible! ICD-10-PCS Optum code book was also a game changer!

I could not agree more! If this is something you really want for a career giving up 20 hours a week to make it happen is absolutely doable. I am enrolled in my local technical college for an AAS Medical Office Administration - Medical Billing and Coding. This semester I am/was enrolled in 5 classes totaling 17 credits. Some were 8 week classes so I am now enrolled in 3 classes and am holding strong at a 4.000 GPA. Nothing in life is easy. During my time in college with having a family, kids, home life, church life, etc. it hasn’t always been easy but we make it happen if it’s something we truly want. Sometimes that may mean you miss an event or activity because you need to study but the outcome will be worth it.
Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. For someone like myself who will be completing my degree next semester I appreciate all the advice and knowledge you have given as a veteran coder.🥰

So many people have complained about practicode and I decided to get it for practice until I get a job and it’s been extremely helpful! I impressed the hiring manager after completing the coding assessment (from scratch) because I was so detailed and I explained my thought process if the documentation was unclear. She said she has never had an applicant answer so thoroughly! I had my A removed a week ago and I’m doing my best to land that first coding job! Thank you for all of your knowledge and expertise in helping us move towards successful coding careers! ❤
