funny story: i'm watching this because my current lotr set has been read so much over its 40 years that pages are falling out and I wanted to see what a newer nicer edition looked like. was NOT expecting the old set you're comparing against to be the exact same as mine, albeit in much better shape. funny how that works sometimes. thanks for the video man!

That’s too funny!! Yea it’s all about the condition, rather than the edition- there are lots of nice new paperbacks too! I’ve got another video where I show one of those if you’re interested :)

LOTR editions are so great. I have a one volume paperback that I’ve worn in and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

That’s wonderful!! I’d love mine to be that worn in and loved one day 😊 which edition is yours?

I am always keeping an eye out for my perfect LOTR set. I currently have paperbacks in a bit better shape than yours. They are old and fading. I have the "pocket" boxed set from Barnes & Noble. Those are great for reading on the go. But the print is small and my eyes keep getting worse every year. I will soon have to give this to someone because it's becoming more of a strain every time I use them. I love the idea of a 1 volume like yours. It's gorgeous! But it's not practical for me. If I had a good place to read at home, something like that would be great. But I do much of my reading on the go. I will be rereading LOTR the rest of my life. No way would I be dragging that doorstopper around with me. I used to do that! But back problems put an end to it. I guess my ideal would be the 3 separate volumes, hardcover so they last, and a basic cover design. Nothing too flashy. I haven't found it yet!

Cool! I recently got a boxed set for LOTR which included 'The Hobbit' as well. Four books in a set, pretty clean. I will love to own a copy of LOTR which doesn't divide it into 3 parts. Maybe in future, when I am done reading the one I have several times.😄

Sounds like a great plan!! There are so many great bind-ups out there to choose from. Best of luck!

Another great video. I prefer the old versions. Nothing beats the smell of an old book! ✌️📚
