I first heard Chan’s Moon Pix album in 1999. I was absolutely transfixed. Have seen her live many times over the years but never had the chance to meet her in person until a chance meeting in 2019 while making a delivery to her home. She could not have been more sweet (thank god…I would have been crushed if she were a jerk). She was exactly as I imagined her to be. I told her I was a huge fan and she even hugged me. I didn’t stop smiling for a few weeks after that encounter.
No other musical artist’s work has meant more to me in my life. I am genuinely so grateful that she exists. 💙💙💙 Please never stop making music, Chan. We love you.

Oh my goodness this is perfect. I have always adored CP from the first minute I heard her album The Greatest in a cafe in Paris in 2007 and she has since been in all my playlists. This brings tears to my eyes it bizarrely has all the aesthetics of that moment.

Cat Power, Chan Marshall es su verdadero nombre, ha demostrado que es ya una estrella de la música, tal vez por eso ha decidido embarcarse en un disco de versiones, Sospecho que solo estás autorizado a hacer un álbum así, después de años creando tus propias canciones. La cantante lanzará un álbum en enero bautizado simplemente como "Covers", donde entrega otras lecturas de composiciones que han marcado tanto sus inicios como su vida reciente, según ella misma confiesa, con fecha de estreno para el 14 de enero. La sorpresa viene con los temas que ha ido escogiendo, en octubre presentó sus respectivas lecturas para "Bad Religion", de Frank Ocean, y "A pair of brown eyes", de The Pogues. Ahora hace algo similar con Billie Holiday, una de sus influencias declaradas, "I’ll Be Seeing You" se llama el cover elegido.
“Cuando te arrebatan a la gente que quieres, siempre hay una canción que retiene su recuerdo en tu mente,” reflexiona Cat Power en un comunicado, mientras habla de la importancia de esta canción para ella. “Es una conversación con aquellos que están del otro lado y es muy importante para mí poder llegar a la gente de esa manera”. El tema ha sido seleccionado por pérdidas recientes que sufrió entre ellas, la del colaborador de Sun, Philippe Zdar, quien falleció trágicamente en 2019.
