    Great video. Talk about some bad ground there at the beginning.
    Stay safe out there.

    Definitely haven't seen that one. There must be 1000s of mines it seems. Thanks for sharing

    I am amazed at how many new mines you explore that I haven't seen other explorer sites. Do you try to find mines others have not explored. That is why I find your channel one of the more interesting to view and look forward to each week.

      Thanks Jim! For the last year we were traveling a lot, and we have gotten really good at researching old mining towns. It also helps that we have a background in endurance hiking, helping us get to some spots that most haven't gone to the trouble for yet. So some of our videos likely are the only one on TH-cam for certain mines. I'm not sure about this one though, because it was a shorter hike and we know other sites nearby have been explored by others.

    This one was cool and fun. The white bat...scene from a frozen zombie apocalypse story. Bro did you notice she shivered as she pasted it? As in every zom movie she will say...she was just cold!!! Was she bit????? Make a great horror movie. Merry Christmas. PS some really good underwater, on the fly, work.

    The pump on rails deserved a better shot when you go back,
    The broom is curious.. I could imagine, but then why don’t we see more of them
    The stull timber with the ladder attached,sitting in the cradle, was super cool,
    All those bats had to be getting in somewhere so there was bound to be an entrance to the world

    • @RustandDustExploration
      @RustandDustExploration  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good point, that bigger opening we found in that upper section must look like a welcome mat to the bats.

    That bat was probably infected with white nose syndrome, it’s a fungus that grows on their nose and wings. I’m surprised more of them didn’t have it if one did.

    • @RustandDustExploration
      @RustandDustExploration  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We actually showed it to a forest service zoologist and they said it was way too covered in white to be the fungus, and the moisture was strange. They were going to research it further but never got back to us. You're absolutely right, though, whatever it was is probably going to spread. Very sad.

    • @008Birdman
      @008Birdman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree that it is probably white nose syndrome. Wash your shoes and clothes really well so the next mines you encounter you will less likely spread white nose. It is a terrible plague on the bats. I hate to see it too because bats are so important to the eco system. They eat mosquitoes so they are one of my favorite animals. Anything that controls mosquito population is my friend.

    • @RustandDustExploration
      @RustandDustExploration  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@008Birdman Yes, always disinfect everything. We definitely want to do whatever we can to prevent the spread, because it really is a scourge. In some managed caves, they won't let you bring clothes that have ever been in another bat habitat.

    I wonder if the broom is to sweep the rails. As a mechanic I know my creeper doesn't like dirt on the floor. Even the smallest piece stops the caster. Imagine a ton of rock in a cart.

    • @RustandDustExploration
      @RustandDustExploration  ปีที่แล้ว

      That must be it then. It always seems like a big heavy ore care is going to run over dirt no problem, but that may just be our overactive imaginations 😄

    Sessions greetings like your videos, but I do think you should invest in safety gear for your heads as it only takes one small rock falling from above to do premiant damage and we would not see you again. The other thing you should have, is a gas detector for each of you as you can walk into some gasses that will kill you and carrying oxygen would not help unless you have had a warning from a detector because it would be too late when you found yourself in trouble. I worked in the underground mining industry for 30 years and safety equipment was paramount. Keep the videos coming.

    Nice explore! Was this a copper mine, or Cu/Ag? (Assumed from the slight blue areas in various places. You might want to mention it sometime in the video)
    Anyway, ‘twas pleasant and interesting.

      The report we were able to find says that it was a cinnabar (or mercury) mine.

      We've talked about it, but I think our biggest hang up would be finding a spot where the rats and other critters wouldn't bother us. Haha
