At my cousin's tapping out ceremony there was a little girl who came to tap out her uncle. She was around 7. Her family had explained ahead of time what it meant and how important it was. After a while she noticed several graduates who hadn't been tapped out by anyone and asked why. Her family then explained that they didn't have anyone to tap them out. So she ran around tapping out every last one of them.

It still hits me to see this because I know exactly what he’s going through as well as his family. It’s a brief, but very emotional moment. Letters are super crucial during training. I remember getting letters and just being so happy and those letters gave me a reason to push and keep fighting and to not give up. They give you the sense to keep fighting and to keep going no matter the situation. I remember going on my first ruck it was 5 miles and it was so hot and I was hurting so bad and I just wanted to quit. But instead I pulled out a prayer my mother wrote me I read it and I told myself alright you got this keep going. I was FIRST female back to the company out of 160 people I was the first female. I did it all for my family. So yes if you have family in training please please PLEASE write them letters to encourage them.
This is beautiful, but I didn’t see my brother for almost 2 yrs, cause it was in the 80’s when he went in, however, we didn’t like each other this much either lol - I was 13 and he was 18.. he hated me. But we love each other so much now . Still have all the hand written letters from him and my older brother who also served ❤️❤️.

I remember when my son,Gabriel, graduated basic I was so proud. He actually was starting to get depressed because it took us awhile to get to him so he thought we didn't come. We live in Florida but he was in Texas(I think) for basic. He is still in the Air-force as a reserve I think he is a lvl above Airman. He is graduating university in December but has decided to stay in and possibly move up to a full time position at Lockheed here in Orlando. I know you are proud of your son too.

Every story like this and coming home videos heartwarming and amazing. But having to wait 3 months for your loved one/significant other is harder. I wish my wait would’ve been 8 weeks. But no matter the wait, thankful for every person that has endured whichever boot camp to serve our country.
My wifes cousin served he was tapped he had a really close friend that wasn't tapped he had no one so the cousin which graduated too tapped him and since then they've acted like brothers
I know that feeling.. April 26th was my graduation date. I can still remember being in the first element and making the left face to face the crowd and seeing my dad out in the stands smiling at me was the greatest thing ever. It’s really emotional and you get choked up in that moment till the point you are trying to hold back your tears.

Because there's no such thing in boot camp. Marines have to much discipline to break formation without the command
