Big respect for doing all this on jack stands, amazing dedication. Soon enough you'll grow the channel enough to justify a lift ;) You should also change the bearings on the engine at this mileage, they'll be finished too.
Please explain your reasoning for saying the bearings will be finished, my car has nearly 100000 more kms on it than that BMW and the bearings are not finished, so how do you explain your statement?
@@NeilD163 Please just quickly Google N47 bearing life and see for yourself. Around 200k they are done or severily worn. There are literally thousands and thousands of videos and posts about bearing wear on BMW engines, please don't be stupid. Google and look for yourself.

Im a complete newbie to BMW cars but would quite like to own one. i love the 320d estates, which engines are good and which are bad? and which ones are cheap and reliable to own?
If you don’t like cam chain issues, do oil changes every 15 000km. If you do strictly city driving not letting the car get up to temp (and staying there for a while!), then replace even sooner.
City driving modern diesels clogs up dpf, egr, intake ports and injector nozzles. Remember to do plenty of highway driving. Bear in mind that certain newer bmw petrol engines also have issues with timing chain (it's not exclusive to the diesels), such as N20. M47 engine itself is very reliable apart from swirl-flaps which should definitely be removed. N47 timing chain more prone to snap and should be done preventively around 200k mark, other than that it's a fairly reliable engine which easily drives to 350k.
This make me regret selling my Mini Cooper S R53. Timing chain started slapping on cold starts and I sold it. I have mechical experience but I thought it was gonna be much harder so I sold it (I did told the new owner the timing chain needed to be replaced).
