- I started activities to regenerate trees that were cut for various reasons.
In this video, a woodlathe is used to create a vase from an unusually shaped log by woodturning.

Stunning. At one point around 5.50 minutes l thought you were going to turn the wood around again to hollow out the area you left so that the petals were downwards. But this is much better.

Another brilliant piece!! You can see what is in the wood, where others would have cut all of those lovely edges away. I continue to be intrigued by this particular wood. The contrasting colours, and magnificent grain tell different stories, depending on where you look. Sometimes, I think the grain suggests stormy seas! Someday, I hope to be able to afford a small piece that you turned from this wood.

It looks like Rafflesia. There is a video of a similar work on the another tree. Some of them seem to dislike it, but I like it because of its individuality.

Não é prático, mas é para visualização para apreciar o grão e o formato da madeira. Todas as árvores usam árvores que foram destruídas pela tempestade. A cor da serragem é linda, então quero fazer algo endurecendo com resina.

I never ever knew the existance of a tree/wood that was scarlet inside!! The first time I saw Chinese Juniper wood was on this channel and I am OBSESSED with this wood!! It is beyond beautiful! I don't follow many other Japanese woodturners, so I don't know if they also work with Kaizuka. But this is another special feature of Yamabiko-san's channel. The red wood. (And ofcourse, the super thin goblets!)

There are many people who handle cedar, but I have never seen anyone who handles kaKaizuka on TH-cam. It may be because it is rare, but it is planted everywhere in Japan.

It does look a lot like the Rafflesia flowers. We have Eastern red cedar trees that have those same deep flutes in the trunk and as beautiful as they are they often cause logs to crack.

As always, a unique and beautifully completed project. The combination of live edge, plate, and bowl is truly inspired. Apparently, this stock is a soft wood (not unlike redwood-Sequoioideae), but the strikingly beautiful grain is not the same. What kind of wood is it? Best wishes my friend.

It seems to be a variety called "Juniperus chinensis Kaizuka", which was born from Kaizuka, Japan. It has grain rings and a very distorted outline than cedar. Many Kaizuka are planted in the place where I live.

ラフレシアの花の形ですね。素晴らしいです。不安定なので最初に回すのが難しい。回転数はどれぐらいにしましたか。

旋盤の性能の限界に挑戦しました。
回転数は旋盤のベッドに接触しないか心配で600rpmで始めました。
途中でも1500rpmです。
刃物が切れないと1.5馬力のモーターも止まりそうでした。
いつもの返信ありがとうございます🙏🏽。スタートが結構早い回転数でですね。今の旋盤が最低回転数が750なのでもっと遅い調整できるのが欲しいです。😇
回転数が早いと仕事が早く進みますからね💡しかし、このような歪な木を回す場合は最低回転数が300-400rpmとかが良いですね。
私の旋盤は、モーターを交換してインバーター制御に変更しているので、最低回転数は30rpmで、馬力は0.5→1.5にアップしてます。

What's a good time line from when you cut down a cadsr tree to turning it??
I'm using a tree that was broken by a storm. I've turned on new ones, but I think sanding is possible in about a month.
But, It seems to be a variety called "Juniperus chinensis Kaizuka", which was born from Kaizuka, Japan. It has grain rings and a very distorted outline than cedar. Many Kaizuka are planted in the place where I live.

Are you using bigger bowl gouge on this piece, or are my eyes playing tricks?
