I have a confession... I have never played a WiiU before... so this should be a great video for me to watch in case I ever get my hands on one! The Ducktales Remaster is one that I hear such positive things about, I watched a buddy stream it a few months ago and it really caught my eye. TankTankTank looks like a blast! I love arcade games like that. I'm surprised it's not more expensive. The Giana Sisters I've heard of before, I think someone brought it up as a "hidden gem" and to be honest it seems to be my type of game! I enjoy platformers like that. LEGO games have blown my mind, I used to think they were for kids but I've played all the LOTR and Harry Potter LEGO games and they are so much fun. I need to try out Undercover. I remember one of the first kiosk games I ever played as a kid was Mario Tennis for the N64, I love to see that the series is still going. This was an awesome video personally for me as I found some cool games to buy if I ever decide to pull the trigger on the WiiU.
Never understood the hypocrisy of the gaming community for the Wii U. The DS/DSi/3DS have generally always been lauded as great, innovative with a large support of games development. The Wii U, not so much. Terms often thrown at it as "awkward", "no way to develop for" and "what even is this thing?!". The Wii U is nothing but a 1080p capable console version of a DS. I still play the Wii U and my 3DS regularly. But alas, it's all regulated to history now....
It was definitely undervalued, some say not enough titles 🤷🏼♂️ But now it’s slowly becoming a hot collectors item and notably (for the moment) it’s very affordable library. I’ve had mine since day one, it’s a Tank!!! I’ve had no issues but a new battery change for the Game Pad. It’s still heavily played and is loaded with amazing E-Shop exclusives. I’ll always love it!
I bought a [3 generations old] new video card just to play it. and never finished it. irony in its finest! ROB, I hope you're doing well. the Wii U was the underrated gem beta test for the Switch. they eventually got the formula right. lol

They are, lots of games have been so erratic in price. I’d think you could get a console for cheap but people are really getting into it lately so who knows lol. I have most if not all the titles I think I’d want. And yes very amazing he reprised his role for the remake!!!

I bought the wii u back in 2017 just to get some of the games like toad treasure tracker, donkey kong tropical freeze which got ported over to the switch. I ended up getting more games like hyrule warriors, gianna sisters. I remember getting gianna sisters for 12 bucks sealed. My copy of hyrule warriors was 8 bucks at gamestop compared to the switch version at 59 bucks. Star fox guard was 20 bucks sealed which I bought off of Amazon. I don't know why the critics trashed the game. Duck tales remaster I own but as a ps3 game. I also own a Japanese and a European console which I use for their exclusive wii games mainly. The only exclusive Japanese game for the wii u I have is mario vs donkey kong which came out on the Nintendo ds. As for European games I bought devils third which was 30 bucks at the time but has now gone up in price for all regions. Fast racing neo is another European game I own which was a digital game that got an exclusive physical release in Europe. I noticed some of the retro gaming stores in nyc I deal with are selling the wii u console for around 200 bucks complete
Yep, I got Gianna new/sealed for about the same! And I think with the Star Fox the biggest complaint was the difficult controls mixed with using the gamepad, but once you figure it out it’s amazing. Yeah Devils Third, geez that games crazy high now! I have fast racing Neo as the digital download and there is a Switch version also called fast RTX I believe, just as amazing! And yep, the Wii U was going for $160-$180 but it’s going up and soon the games will. Every time I hear of your games John it’s amazing, it sounds like you have an epic collection! Tank Tank Tank is an unexpected recommend that I’ve never heard of. I know I’d love it. I really need to get Tropical Freeze. I know it’s highly rated and was sad to have to pass on it originally. Was not a fan of Star Fox unfortunately. I just couldn’t get comfortable with the controls. Hyrule Warriors was really fun and tactical despite all the hack and slash action. And I need to get Toad’s Treasure Tracker. Definitely worth it at this price point. Thanks for the other game suggestions, too!

I have a feeling that this console will become "retro cool" just like the Gamecube has and it will become desirable and therefore expensive. Not now but maybe in 10-15 years. Look how the Gamecube is trendy and cool now and therefore expensive. I had 3 Gamecubes and back when it was still derided as a "kids console". Still got my Wii U but sadly not my Gamecube but having a Wii means I can still play Gamecube.
Yeah I honestly think it’s on the rise now, but we shall see! And yes me too my friend, a Wii for my GameCube games and I have a pretty good amount of great Wii games also!
IMO, it is precisely to make people aware of games like that Cars 3 movie tie in ("hidden in plain sight") that TH-cam channels like this exist: there's no point in praising a mainstream Mario game, but a great game that misleadingly appears to be shovelware is really worth talking about.

I have Donkey Kong Tropical & Star Fox still sealed, I never got around to playing them lol. That old Treasure Tracker is fun and makes good use of the gamepad, another that did was Zombie U. I don't have a clue on prices as I bought them when the machine was still being sold commercially, physical copies of Fast Racing Neo and Sonic Racing Transformed should be in your collection if not already. 😀

@@retrobeliever If you do time attack, say Shinobi course try and play clean and true and keep on the same lines, your notice on Wii U your ghost is faithful to your best, but on the xb360 your ghost iis messy and out of sync to where you drove on the road. Frame rate is slightly down on Wii U compared to 360 but it's much smoother and more stable on Wii U. I have to admit I play it at 480p on Wii U via a wide-screen CRT so it may perform better overall than 720p. Hopefully you won't notice any difference. The Wii U was delayed so maybe why it's more polished over all as games to play.

Maybe I should look into starfox games… did have a thing for dogfighting in space a couple of years ago… Tank tank tank reminds me of Earth defense force for ps3. Only played the turned based strategy game on the ps2 though. That was quite fun as well though it was a very long game. 50 levels as the humans and then you got to play as the invaders. So a 100 levels in all. Feel like I’ve seen a bit too many platformers. They seem to appear a lot in minis and retro collections disc while I’m mostly into shoot em ups. Donkey Kong does sound interesting, but it’s donkey kong country I want. Did the wii u have and retro collections of nintendos games for previous systems? Otherwise I say Ristar might be the best platformer I’ve played. Such unique bosses in it. I think that’s rare. Hydrule warrior sounds like my cup of te. Do really like the dynasty warriors and samurai warriors games. So getting that gameplay with other familiar characters seems awesome. Now if they only make one sega allstars one! Mario tennis seems nice if it’s anywhere as good as sonic allstar tennis. It’s not the tennis in it self there that makes it great, but the mini games. House of the dead themed one where you kill Zombies by smashing tennis balls into them is one of my favorite. There’s also a puyopuyo one where you break puyopuyos and a space harrier one where space harrier enemies attack you and you kill em with tennis balls. Oh and the virtua cop mini game is fun as well. Hightly recommend sonic allstar tennis. Even if it took a while for me to figure out the controls. They hit the ball once you release the button is the key I think... Think it’s pretty cheap as well.
Yeah this Starfox is pretty cool, lots of variety in it! I like SHMUPs too!!! And Mario Tennis doesn’t have that much depth I’m afraid, but it’s a fun game especially with friends! I appreciate you watching as always my friend, thank you!!! ❤️🎮

I've had a few Wii U's over the years, my current one is the Splatoon pack in bundle one that I found sealed at a retro game store hehe. The biggest thing I don't like about the Wii U (which also includes the 3DS) is the whole NNID system and the fact that you can't transfer a NNID account to another system unless you actually have the console with your one on there and the new one you are transferring it to! So every time I have bought a new Wii U, I have had to email Nintendo to unlink my NNID account so I can put it on the new console and I get so nervous every time I do it, cos the first time I did, I called, and they were super rude to me about it! Thankfully I don't think I will ever sell my current Wii U as I have stopped wanting to sell things from my collection and so I'll hopefully never need to do that again!! (they did do it for me with my 3DS a few weeks ago, so doesn't matter that the game servers and shop is discontinued apparently ❤) As far as games go, I can't say I have ever played any of these besides Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, which was an ultra disappointment haha XD, just has no content in it outside of just regular matches! Most of the games I have for Wii U are expensive, for Australian standards I guess lol, don't know but I'd assume some of them would be way cheaper in the NTSC region. I did pick up Devil's Third for $30 when that is going for a lot more hehe! Oh I did pick up Nintendo Land for like $5! that is a pretty cool compilation of mini games 😊I think Super Mario 3D world and New Super Mario Bros U are fairly cheap and they are super fun if you like Mario too! My favourite games on the Wii U tho are the Legend of Zelda HD games, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, just happen to be the only ones I've actually seen to the end haha. I have a feeling that this console will become "retro cool" just like the Gamecube has and it will become desirable and therefore expensive. Not now but maybe in 10-15 years. Look how the Gamecube is trendy and cool now and therefore expensive. I had 3 Gamecubes and back when it was still derided as a "kids console". Still got my Wii U but sadly not my Gamecube but having a Wii means I can still play Gamecube.
Yeah I honestly think it’s on the rise now, but we shall see! And yes me too my friend, a Wii for my GameCube games and I have a pretty good amount of great Wii games also!

IMO, it is precisely to make people aware of games like that Cars 3 movie tie in ("hidden in plain sight") that TH-cam channels like this exist: there's no point in praising a mainstream Mario game, but a great game that misleadingly appears to be shovelware is really worth talking about.

I have Donkey Kong Tropical & Star Fox still sealed, I never got around to playing them lol. That old Treasure Tracker is fun and makes good use of the gamepad, another that did was Zombie U. I don't have a clue on prices as I bought them when the machine was still being sold commercially, physical copies of Fast Racing Neo and Sonic Racing Transformed should be in your collection if not already. 😀

Ha, cool. I prefer the Wii U version of Sonic Racing than the xbox360 version, it's more polished over all on Wii U so I class it as the defacto version! 😀

@@retrobeliever If you do time attack, say Shinobi course try and play clean and true and keep on the same lines, your notice on Wii U your ghost is faithful to your best, but on the xb360 your ghost iis messy and out of sync to where you drove on the road. Frame rate is slightly down on Wii U compared to 360 but it's much smoother and more stable on Wii U. I have to admit I play it at 480p on Wii U via a wide-screen CRT so it may perform better overall than 720p. Hopefully you won't notice any difference. The Wii U was delayed so maybe why it's more polished over all as games to play.

Tank tank tank reminds me of Earth defense force for ps3. Only played the turned based strategy game on the ps2 though. That was quite fun as well though it was a very long game. 50 levels as the humans and then you got to play as the invaders. So a 100 levels in all.
Feel like I’ve seen a bit too many platformers. They seem to appear a lot in minis and retro collections disc while I’m mostly into shoot em ups. Donkey Kong does sound interesting, but it’s donkey kong country I want. Did the wii u have and retro collections of nintendos games for previous systems?
Otherwise I say Ristar might be the best platformer I’ve played. Such unique bosses in it. I think that’s rare.
Hydrule warrior sounds like my cup of te. Do really like the dynasty warriors and samurai warriors games. So getting that gameplay with other familiar characters seems awesome.
Now if they only make one sega allstars one!
Mario tennis seems nice if it’s anywhere as good as sonic allstar tennis. It’s not the tennis in it self there that makes it great, but the mini games. House of the dead themed one where you kill Zombies by smashing tennis balls into them is one of my favorite. There’s also a puyopuyo one where you break puyopuyos and a space harrier one where space harrier enemies attack you and you kill em with tennis balls. Oh and the virtua cop mini game is fun as well. Hightly recommend sonic allstar tennis. Even if it took a while for me to figure out the controls. They hit the ball once you release the button is the key I think... Think it’s pretty cheap as well.
Yeah this Starfox is pretty cool, lots of variety in it! I like SHMUPs too!!! And Mario Tennis doesn’t have that much depth I’m afraid, but it’s a fun game especially with friends! I appreciate you watching as always my friend, thank you!!! ❤️🎮

I've had a few Wii U's over the years, my current one is the Splatoon pack in bundle one that I found sealed at a retro game store hehe. The biggest thing I don't like about the Wii U (which also includes the 3DS) is the whole NNID system and the fact that you can't transfer a NNID account to another system unless you actually have the console with your one on there and the new one you are transferring it to! So every time I have bought a new Wii U, I have had to email Nintendo to unlink my NNID account so I can put it on the new console and I get so nervous every time I do it, cos the first time I did, I called, and they were super rude to me about it! Thankfully I don't think I will ever sell my current Wii U as I have stopped wanting to sell things from my collection and so I'll hopefully never need to do that again!! (they did do it for me with my 3DS a few weeks ago, so doesn't matter that the game servers and shop is discontinued apparently ❤)
As far as games go, I can't say I have ever played any of these besides Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, which was an ultra disappointment haha XD, just has no content in it outside of just regular matches! Most of the games I have for Wii U are expensive, for Australian standards I guess lol, don't know but I'd assume some of them would be way cheaper in the NTSC region. I did pick up Devil's Third for $30 when that is going for a lot more hehe! Oh I did pick up Nintendo Land for like $5! that is a pretty cool compilation of mini games 😊I think Super Mario 3D world and New Super Mario Bros U are fairly cheap and they are super fun if you like Mario too! My favourite games on the Wii U tho are the Legend of Zelda HD games, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, just happen to be the only ones I've actually seen to the end haha.

I wouldn’t say weakest but more so undervalued, it’s actually starting to become a popular system for collectors and prices won’t stay cheap for long!
