“Everything, except God, has in itself some measure of privation,
Thus all individuals may be graded according to the degree
To which they are infected with mere potentiality”
Was there not an inconceivable loss of knowledge at Bethlehem?
Christ's abasement, His subjecting Himself to the laws of human birth
And growth and to the lowliness of fallen human nature...
Did the Son remain the transcendent Logos,
Is there not a radical and fatal discontinuity between the consciousness?
Of the transcendent Logos and the secular Jesus?
Obedience to the point of death,
    Falling down through increasing
    Pressure
    Into the deathlike region
Of ooze and slime and decay
These are the fruits and symptoms of the abasement of the World,
The assumption of humanity and the simultaneous occultation of Divinity
    (Immaculata
Du wirfst mich in den Moderstaub des Todes)
“And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist”
    Triune God,
Morphed into a Being of apparent theanthropic nature
Deprived of the Light of Splendor
Dost thou still stand in undiminished Majesty
After the exinanition of divine attributes
The face of profound fire gone astray,
Exhaling austerities in concealed, divine radiance?
Kenosis, O' theory of great peril!
Blinded, sanguineous eyes and with a trembling hand,
A frail androgynous being holds the perilous doctrinal balance,
Robed in a maculated garment spattered with the sordid blood
Of the Flagellation, of the lacerations and fierce wounds
Carved by royal attributes, of the crimson spurts
    Dripping without end,
As was celebrated the High Mass of the Comforter
Kenosis, O' theory of great peril!
Rob God of any attribute and fill the shattering universe
With the pestilent scent of putrefaction and the glorious cloud of death,
For steadfast, at any cost, He must be
Solely the incarnate Word proclaimed by all the prophets and apostles
Would have, in dying, an infinite value,
Sufficient to atone, by His astonishing work,
For the Sins of the world
    Res rapta...
    Res rapienda...
Hast thou succumbed to the original malady?
“For being empty himself, He giveth empty answers
To empty enquirers; for whatever enquiry may be made of Him,
He answered according to the emptiness of the man”
    In visceribus...
A willing expiatory Victim, calling constant shame and ignominy upon itself
Was thine irretrievable substance still intact in this Sinai of global Penitence,
Dost thou remember thine past Theophanies, the burning bush
And the Angel of the Lord?
(Et vestitus erat veste aspersa sanguine
“Le fond de ma pensée est que dans ce monde en chute toute joie éclate
Dans l'ordre naturel et toute douleur dans l'ordre divin”)
“In the next place, it never approached an assembly
Of righteous men; but avoideth them,
And cleaveth to the doubtful-minded and empty
And prophesieth to them in corners,
And decieveth them, speaking all things in emptiness to gratify their desire...”
Art thou working on collective deliverance?
Observe Merkabah, the chariot of the glory of God
Adrift and exiled, the Pilgrim of Light, grandiose and weeping
Thine aura, compared, is but pale and frail, alike to the one of an ailing child...
Vacillating faith, thine salvific virtue shall fail to make nil
    A cataclysm of Judgment
The suffering of the Just shall be aggravated in grotesque proportions,
    Pillaged, ravaged, overthrown
The realms of warmth and reassurance, of a maternal womb,
Shall disappear gradually under the crumbling yoke of Sin and Time...
The advent of Plerosis is the destiny of Man and shall shatter up to the Heavens,
A savage aperture to the High Mass of the Comforter:
“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed,
    Not only in my presence,
But so much more now in my absence,
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling...”

Very interesting and dynamic discussion and the way you two handled it is quite amusing, insightful, intellectual, and even entertaining. The heart of the DSO thesis in this song with which they proceeded to build all their fatally flawed understanding of "kenosis," heretofore sowing the seed of doubt to the uninitiated and theologically-ignorant: " Dost thou still stand in undiminished Majesty
, After the extinction ("extination" is a nonexistent word, they meant extinction because 'c' and 't' when written so close together by hand would look like an 'a') of divine attributes...?" The simple answer is YES, as Divinity is eternal and thus CANNOT be extinguished. What Jesus willfully took off was the effulgence of Divinity, not its essence. You may liken "kenosis" with David disrobing his royal garments at the temple during the Ark's return--being now equal with the plebs in the worship of the Most High: his outer embellishments as king gone, but his royalty and essential functions remaining (2 Sam. VI:14).
The introductory quote from the philosopher Lovelace was an appropriate foundational premise to use philosophically, but DSO proceeded to misappropriate it with their (DSO's) fatal misunderstanding of "kenosis", that the God in Christ is the exception to that privation, while His humanity isn't. It's almost like the Catholic's misunderstanding of Mary being the "mother of God" (instead of Mary being the mother of the human in Jesus, not the God in Him) because God has NO (and will NEVER EVER have a) mother, having no beginning.
But yeah, DSO have had some of the most poesy, intelligent, heavy-handed philosophical and theological lyrics that sets it far apart from the bankruptly vile, evil, diabolical, incoherent goobledygook spewed by 99.9% of foaming stupid black metallists! Plus their technical nuances and beautifully taut playing made me a NEW fan!! Amazing stuff. One can only pray that their "playing with the fire of Scripture" will one day "burn" them to the full knowledge of the Adonai Jesus! ;)
Overall, very enjoyable music, and discussion Vin and Sori--not to mention the airtight theology of a well-studied and Spirit-filled Christian! That's why I'm forever a fan of u both. ^_^ The last 5 mins. of ur commentary is AMEN a thousandfold Vin!

"It's almost like the Catholic's misunderstanding of Mary being the "mother of God""
This isn't a misunderstanding, if you deny Mary is the Mother of God the implications that spring from that are either that Christ is not God or there are actually two Christs, the heresy of Nestorius. The reason it is important as to whether Mary is the Mother of God or not is because it is a question of whether Christ according to His humanity can be predicated towards a single subject as St. Cyril said or whether it is predicated to two subjects as Nestorius said.
It is further important to be familiar with St. Cyril and the tradition because it also answers misunderstandings regarding the incarnation. We can say simultaneously "God is ignorant" and "God is all-knowing", or "God is weak" and "God is omnipotent", which seem contradictory at first but are not because we are predicating the subject is the person of the Logos in accordance to the natures and not that the subject is the divine nature itself.

When I first watched this video a didn't know a hair of the Bible. Like nothing. Only 5 years earlier i barely discovered who Judas was by accident. I was sitting with family and they brought up Judas and i was like "who tf is that"? And they can barely believe my ignorance.
I was very into the Kenose album because lots of dso songs are like a long story and the songs would change. So i appreciated this band a lot and as someone who was very atheistic and totally ignorant of scripture. I was shocked to see how much this band had cohesive lyrical and well as instrumental content. It's was like a story that in my perspective seemed to have discredited God and scripture and that made me very excited. At the same time i was captivated about the scriptures and how knowledgeable Vin was. When Vin said that this is not simple to grapple with... I thought "heck na" i'm absolutely lost and totally gone yet i like the mysterious things whether it was from the Bible or deathspell omega or both because i realized it was through Christians that i really learned about DSO lyrically which is not a small thing whatsoever. And so somewhere in my mind i stayed stuck on the knowledge side of Christianity. I also thought well i gotta be smart and I'm not getting it lol. But i was also quite desperately ill and was in the middle of an existential crisis which months later turned into something serious and later my testimony. So i have much so connect these things as meaningful life events. I remember telling a friend of mine about DSO lyrically, My friend was bothered about the biblical context of DSO yet still meaningful events that i have connected together with my later salvation.
Thank you so much for this upload and I'll need to watch the other DSO reactions. It will be a doozy and this is the one i paid particular attention to with focus and not quite sure about the others at this time.
Talk to y'all soon! Take care 🔥

Good video. For the Orthodox perspective of the subordination.
"Orthodox Christianity confesses both the ontological equality of all three Persons of the Trinity, as well as the monarchy of the Father (as it was called). There is a heretical subordination of the Son to the Father (as in Arianism, which the insertion of the homoousios in the Creed was designed to exclude), but there is also an Orthodox subordinationism which makes the Father the cause (Greek aitia) of the Son. In the words of the late John Meyendorff (in his Byzantine Theology), “The Cappadocian Fathers eliminated the ontological subordinationism of Origen and Arius, but they preserved a Biblical and Orthodox subordinationism, maintaining the personal identity of the Father as the ultimate origin of all divine being and action”. And this subordination of the Son to the Father can be found in the economy of salvation as well, for St. Paul writes that “God is the head of Christ” just as in marriage “the man is the head of the woman” (1 Cor. 11:3). At the end also, in the age to come, “the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him”-i.e. the Son will be subjected to the Father (1 Cor. 15:28). Clearly ontological equality is compatible with hierarchical subordination.
Such a refusal to allow the combination of the two complementary concepts is explicable in secular thought, which seems unable to progress beyond the concept of relationship as power struggle and which sees all things in terms of competing “human rights”. Liberal Protestantism especially has proven itself captive of such a narrow and unthinking secularism. But it is more perplexing to see such an inability to combine the concepts in Orthodox writers, who should be quite at home with the concept of a godly hierarchy. Saying (as one such Orthodox writer recently did) that “the subordination or submission principle subverts the unequivocal patristic teaching of the ontological equality of men and women” and that “the ancient Fathers of the Church, good philosophers and theologians that they were, saw the incompatibility between equality and subordination or submission” is simply nonsensical, and contrary to everything within Orthodox life. The Fathers held that women and men were ontologically equal, and yet they still insisted that the wife submit to her husband-largely because they could read the New Testament, which they considered to be authoritative. It was not just St. Paul who insisted on the subordination of the wife to her ontologically equal husband (Eph. 5:22f), but Fathers such as Chrysostom also: “Let us take as our fundamental position then that the husband occupies the place of the ‘head’ and the wife the place of the ‘body’” (Homily XX on Ephesians)."

      @@LL-ub9tz I'm a theistic follower of Lucifer.
God exists, but not as stated in the bible, god is a creation-force only. Lucifer was the first being in all of creation, perfect in all ways, and he still is, all other beings created after him, are lesser beings - imperfect, fallible and flawed. The archangel Michael was envious of Lucifer's perfection and power - and plotted against him, to have him exiled from heaven. 2/3 of the angels sided with Michael, and so, not wanting the destruction of creation, Lucifer left, taking with him 1/3 of the angelic horde.
Michael branded Lucifer and his horde of angels (now called demons) as the adversary of heaven.
Angels are messengers, they are the ones that have dictated the writings that later made up what is referred to as the bible. It's a mish-mash of disinformation, misinformation, outright lies, and sprinkled with non-valuable truths.
