Good for you man! Maybe your should keep it up in a more sustainable way now. Like 10k steps a day. Short walks after meals makes a HUGE difference. Keep it up. You got me inspired!
Great video Chase! Definitely a little different than your other videos but you nailed it. I found this very inspiring and motivational... With tons of great scenery. Has a strong message throughout and you kept it "real". I appreciate that!
Loved this video! loved your truth and honesty in the whole thing ! I couldn’t agree more that family, and certain things are more important but so awesome that you finished and completed it. It gives me inspiration to start my journey!! 😁
I so enjoyed this video… It’s very motivating and inspiring. Your objectives for the challenge are absolutely relatable . And your and honesty and humility throughout the process are endearing. Thank you. This is a perfect tutorial for starting this new year on the right foot. 🥾👍
I did much the same this summer. After 2 hiking seasons limited by plantar fasciitis and adding 16 pounds of fat, I had finally discovered a solution to my foot pain. I did my first 10+ mile hike over July 4th, 2024, and it felt good. My goal became to hike or walk over 20,000 steps a day until I was back at my long term weight. My dog loved every step. I did give myself a short day at least every 10 days (something I learned from thruhiking ). Most days I hit 10 miles/25,000 steps, and I managed 15,000 steps a day when COVID got me for the very first time. At 61 y/o now, I’m feeling ready for my first summer of multi-day backpacking in 3 years. While I no longer have the drive for toting a pack on a 20+ mile day, I’m looking forward to miles of ridge walking and remote lake fishing. Did I mention my morning wood has returned? 😉
Congrats man, on a great accomplishment. It's tough playing the juggle game with personal stuff and with kids/work, especially when those kids grow up so fast. Hope the hunt went well too!
Moving is the most important thing you can do in life to maintain physical and mental health. While I don't think it was too wise to start from Day 1 with the 10 miles, I certainly can't deny your accomplishment. But it's advisable to work up to these things and not risk more serious injury to your body at the outset. Hopefully people who watch this video and would like to replicate your achievement will do so at a reasonable and safe pace.
Awesome, I don't live far from you. I saw the bighorn sheep and horse near Reynolds Creek in the Owyhees. There are a bunch of mountain bike trails out there and a really nice loop hike you can do called China Ditch. You'll find that route online. The sheep were a couple miles from there on a random jeep trail I followed.
Oh boy, that would be quite a list. Not sure I could find names for all of them but I did some Boise area classics like Stack Rock, the Adelmann mine trail (where I saw the birds), Dry Creek, then a ton in the Boise foothills trail system. Walked the entire Boise Greenbelt end to end round trip. Also up by Trinity Lakes.
You bet. The bear I saw was up by Big Trinity Lake, just a mile or two from the lake on the Trinity Ridge Road. Some beautiful lakes and trails up there. Good fishing too.

I appreciate that! Yeah, I need to keep a smaller scale of this going. It's good to get outside every day.
Dude! Don't stop. Seriously, with every step your mental health improves and you adding time to your life.

I skipped through the video but it’s a good reminder to get out and just try to make small changes as they do make a difference. 😊

Thanks, and yes, it is a tough balancing act. I'm happy to report that the hunt was good.
Great job brother! Makes me want to get out and hike… if this dang Oregon coast rain would go away…
Great job on your personal challenge. Great message.
I appreciate it!
I loved this video! Fantastic job!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great work! I live in VA and bought a book with every trail in the state. Planning on many road trips this year!
Sounds awesome!
I really enjoyed this video! Very honest. You've inspired me. Thank you.
I'm glad you liked it!
I’ve been wanting to get out to the Owahees . Probably in spring.
I highly recommend. That area is underrated.

Indeed, that first week was rough. Working up to the mileage would be wise.
Hey, I live in the North End of Boise and would like to know some of your routes. Especially, the big horn sheep and the wild horse.

Nice video. I enjoyed all the different trails you were on. Do you have a list of those trails that you could make available?

Thanks, I can look those up. I was particularly interested in the trail with the lakes and the one where you saw the bear.
