being able to use settlements for diplomacy will be great. i dont know how many times ive found myself razing or occupying and abandoning a settlement because its not worth holding on to for one reason or another. this will also be a big help for co-op

I really love how in spite of Cathay being under the theoretical rule of literal god-like beings such as the Dragon Emperor/Moon Empress/his children, in reality it's still super dysfunctional between the rebels, dissenter lords, chaos agents, and other contenders - much like how the Holy Roman Empire's disunity got captured by the Elector Counts/Corruption in the Empire of the old world, Grand Cathay really translates well the internal strife of historical/imperial China into the Warhammer universe!
Yep. I remember the beginning where people complained that Cathay was basically a Chinese Mary Sue and used it as an excuse for casual racism. Turns out, we barely scratched the surface of Cathay lore lmao

@@Grondorn I'm an optimist gal, I prefer to be happy the implement it at last, rather than groaning. I still spent hundreds of hours on the two previous ones even with the old diplomacy, so clearly it wasn't necessary ^^
@@Grondorn They had it in Rome Total war but it was busted since you could easy trick AI, in a recent remaster of Rome Total War you could trick the AI into giving all but their capital and all their money for nothing. With factions like High elves etc. you could easily get so much influence with a faction that if you could trade settlements you could buy everything. It's simply a difficult mechanic to balance with some factions. One possible way of doing it would be to give each settlement a value and a multiplier on negotiations that way more valuable targets and more settlements make it harder or easier depending if you're taking or giving. But then it becomes a difficult situation to balance.
So I noticed that Miao Ying carries her title everywhere. Can we expect that for other legendary Lords too? Because you couldn't see the screen anymore anytime someone plays as Settra.
@@bigopzooka Well, they can all attack walls so if you destroy it from under them, you'll wipe out at least half the unit. Any Lords or Heroes standing the wall will get instakilled.

This video is such a treat. It’s amazing how you can find something new you didn’t see the first time watching. Like how the yang symbol becomes a ying yang symbol on the unit cards during fights if they are in range of their counterpart. Loving the look of Cathay.
i freaking loved this video! Not only does it look like you will have to struggle to keep you're borders safe of incoming factions and chaos servants, but also need to keep the wall safe and upgraded for it will get attacked by the chaos gods! The fact that you also have to content with new systems and the improved diplomacy. It already looks like cathay will be an extremely fun campaign! And that's still not knowing how big the map will be, the possible end game challenges and the overall early, mid and late game challenges with every faction.
That diplomacy looks freaking amazing. Can't wait to try the outpost mechanic i hope i works for all races of allies. And finally we get region trading, now we won't have to declare war on allies just because that have some cities we need. Great job

Cons: -CA keeps the ugly banners when a settlement is occupied by another culture. -Retake a Tzeentch settlement, looks cool but the village should be covered with Tzeentch crystals, glowing blue everywhere, with darker sky and not remain the peaceful Cathayan village with beautiful woody houses. (The demons sleep in these house? ridiculous) -Still no AI control option even when you have 40 units to manage including 20 garbage units you don't wanna waste time to manage.. -Little visual differences between Tzeench's chaos corruption and Chaos Corruption on the campaign map. -Why is the Moon Dragon banner blue?

Looks great! I like how these trailers flow into one another e.g. the end of this trailer was the start of a previous one aka the battle against fateweaver. Also, the idle-unit indicator in the form of a "Zzz"-textbox is great for someone like me who tends to forget giving a huge portion of my army commands throughout the entire battle^^.

7:21 Chinese jezzails can now mount walls. Looking forward to rat jezzails, deck gunners, and weapons teams like torpedo irondrakes having the same.
Just imagine being able to clear a wall with an irondrake flank now
Sad that you still cant mount artillery on the walls but the bridges are a nice half way point for those i guess
As far as I know Irondrakes can mount on ladders and walls, since it's only one dwarf that holds the weapon.
shame that the entire ogre race (knoblars arent ogres ;) can't climb them though. They really seem to have dropped the ball there IMHO

This con is the one that bothers me the most.

Looks great! I like how these trailers flow into one another e.g. the end of this trailer was the start of a previous one aka the battle against fateweaver. Also, the idle-unit indicator in the form of a "Zzz"-textbox is great for someone like me who tends to forget giving a huge portion of my army commands throughout the entire battle^^.
