    Nice session, and lovely fish. If you after the rudd, try 20 to 30 mm Tanta lures on very light jighead or cheb. Last year, I was catching roach and rudd using this method.

    Great session! With that many perch you must get the odd pike too? I lost a nice double the other day using a 2 inch Keitech lure for perch, bit me off after a couple of minutes playing with me. Decided I'm only fishing with wire traces from now on, normally use Drennan Soft Strand in 10lb. Guess that wouldn't work too well with a baitcaster though as you need to reel the lure almost to the rid tip?

    • @insearchofperch8170
      @insearchofperch8170  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi pal, haven’t had a pike out of that stretch as of yet. No doubt they are in there but don’t seem to be in the areas I’m fishing. Yeah the drennan stuff is good, I tend to use the 7 strand stuff in 12 lbs when I use a trace. You can use 30cm or so and if worried about the bright braid being visible use flouro behind it. Tie the flouro to the braid then the trace to the flouro via a small swivel! Gutted you lost that one, sure you will get a second chance at it 👍🏻👊🏻

    • @leftmono1016
      @leftmono1016 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@insearchofperch8170 - I’ve thought about using flouro between the braid and trace - mainly because I’m a cheap skate wanting to use less wire 😂
      I tend to tie my Drennan wire directly to the hook, SSG, SG or AAA shot onto the wire, with a small loop knot at the end. This is looped onto a tiny quick change swivel which I really like using, much easier than tiny snaps. I can quickly change between small hard and soft lures which are all tied directly to the trace. Less bulky at the business end.
      Keitech lures are worth a try btw, they’re very soft so don’t last well but the action is ace.
      Keep up the good work 😀👍

      There must be some real monsters in the ship canal. Perch and pike. The size of the place when you weigh up the length width and depth is ridiculous. Would be v surprised if there wasn’t some that would raise a few eyebrows!

  • @nospoon4799
    @nospoon4799 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is amazing to me. The ship canal used to be so polluted it would make your eyes water. I wonder if there are many fish below the Weaver confluence? That was where the pollution was really bad back in the day. Once it gets near Stanlow. Great video.

    • @insearchofperch8170
      @insearchofperch8170  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ve heard it was really bad down that way, I’m guessing there will be fish in there now though. I know for a fact there are fish in where it joins to the weaver so can’t imagine there being none a couple of miles up. Cheers pal and thanks for watching 👍🏻👊🏻

    • @nospoon4799
      @nospoon4799 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am looking at this place as very similar to sea fishing with size of it all. 😂 When I am doing that I watch the birds. They tell you where the bait is usually. If you figure where the bait holds up the size of it all becomes a lot less daunting.

    • @insearchofperch8170
      @insearchofperch8170  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @nospoon4799 exactly that yeah. There’s a few cormorants as well that give away where the fish hold up. The bottom make up varies as does the depth. 4-30ft or so. Deff worth having a plug around to map the depths out.

    • @insearchofperch8170
      @insearchofperch8170  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Stan, the main issues with the ship canal are access points. The ones I fished here you have some considerable climbs/drops to get to the water. If you get latchford locks up in warrington you can park on thelwall lane side right next to the lock then there’s some white bollards. There is hard standing there. The wall is high and it’s a deep part of the ship canal. Not 100% what’s in that stretch but that’s the only easy access point I know of. Tight lines 👍🏻👊🏻
