For the viewers who don't know, a 'budgie' is short for 'Budgerigar'. It's a small pet bird, often green in color, commonly known here in the states as a 'parakeet'.
Personally, I thought it was hilarious because I was expecting a totally different accent after he said he was from East Putney! And then how nonsensical the story sounded😂 But there was nothing funny about the accent itself
We do say Booo! The reaction he describes is kind of weird though. I would have said: well alright then, take me with you! And if he´d said yes I would have said Ohhhh! :)
Ahaha, yeahh, it's probably not as difficult for us but it was still a little strange.. plus it's Graham Norton, he'll skit anybody no matter what their accent :')
of course Germans do Booo ("Buuuh!") but when a crowd shouts, the consonants may not be heard so good. try shouting maaaaaaan or something, you will only hear the aaaaaa part. but the rest of the story seems VERY realistic to me ;)
i dont think graham gave shappi a fair chance, they barely mentioned what she's doing and she was rushed but everyone else's projects were in depth with multiple stories.... it was all really funny tho
So do Americans only call budgies parakeets? I'm Canadian and we call them by both, but I guess it's pretty common that we use words from both British and American vernaculars lol
LMFAO whats a budgie? :') bless her must be an english word lol it was funny when the new zealand kid was on lol geordies are harder understand then them tho, i'd love to see what they'd do if one went on lol
I think it may just be his accent and the way hes pronouncing stuff cause I can't find anything else that might be funny in that story lol. Don't take my word for it though - its just a guess hehee
"They're like.....WAT?"

Yes
i love Reeses straight face thinking I have no idea whats going on.after graham flipped the girl on the red chair.
Don't get why they were laughing at the New Zealand accent. I'm English, understood it all?
DapaChrons they always do that on this show it’s a running gag
So did I and I'm from Argentina
Personally, I thought it was hilarious because I was expecting a totally different accent after he said he was from East Putney! And then how nonsensical the story sounded😂 But there was nothing funny about the accent itself
I got kind of annoyed when they wouldn't stop laughing at a New Zealand accent
Especially after they were discussing accents a little while before!
Why lol it was funny
i was hoping he’d mention Jack W to Robert :(
Haha, Brazilians go "Ooooooooooooo!" too!
I love this show❣️❣️❣️❣️
We do say Booo! The reaction he describes is kind of weird though. I would have said: well alright then, take me with you! And if he´d said yes I would have said Ohhhh! :)
You would've said OOOOOOOOO !
Me too! Hahaha :D
To me most British slang that I don't understand sounds dirty, lol.
I’m pretty sure the first guy in the red chair had been on here before. He was super skinny with short sleeves on and that same accent
hahaha that blue shirt dude sounds so much like my kiwi neighbours, if only they weren't laughing so much I could have understood him.
Jesus Hugh Laurie, R-Pattz n Resse on one show

If i wouldnt live in germany i would definitely wanna go there. Seems like a crazy culturetrip!
Oww! Reese is so lovely!

I'm Indian, and I'm understanding what he is saying. They didn't listen well.
I'm an American and I do know what a budgie is. But then I am an Anglophile and I have British friends =)
Ahaha, yeahh, it's probably not as difficult for us but it was still a little strange.. plus it's Graham Norton, he'll skit anybody no matter what their accent :')
Love to know if “budgie” became a slang term even just briefly 😆

It's a New Zealand accent haha
i thought he sounded a but like a kiwi. I could understand him easily.
Budgie.....budgerigar, its a pet bird. Smaller than a parrot, and colourful.
why is british tv so amazing and american so sucky. i live in the wrong country.
I would have to agree!!
We say booo as well...

The song was cut out. :-(
FilmNerd85 I don't think anyone else noted that
i dont think graham gave shappi a fair chance, they barely mentioned what she's doing and she was rushed but everyone else's projects were in depth with multiple stories.... it was all really funny tho
IKR I noticed that too
Because of his accent and the fact they couldn't understand what he was saying
They're english lol Robert and Hugh

@Lovehopeandfaithful are budgies called something different in america?
Abi Tostevin Yes, they are called parrots or parakeets.
Poor budget :-(
LMFAO whats a budgie? :') bless her must be an english word lol it was funny when the new zealand kid was on lol geordies are harder understand then them tho, i'd love to see what they'd do if one went on lol
Que bueno el minuto 1:24
@Abilessthan3 I had to google what a budgie was too. lol We just call them parrots or parakeets in America.
Which guy?
I'm canadian and I know what a budgie is, I guess Americans just dropped the word because the English brought it over.
I think it may just be his accent and the way hes pronouncing stuff cause I can't find anything else that might be funny in that story lol. Don't take my word for it though - its just a guess hehee
that guy sounds like Australian or something
Ian Karundeng nah don't insult us. It's a New Zealand accent
