We don't use stop signs a lot as they tend to be dangerous as drivers tend to ignore them which leads to T-bone collisions. in NL a lot of time and research is put into road design to make them as safe as possible for people, bikes and cars.
Oh really? I feel like there’s a much bigger risk without a stop sign and just expecting the people to check if cars are coming 😨😨 but obviously I’m sure actual research has been done to prove otherwise 😂 I do feel like drivers are train to pay wayyyy more attention here so that’s a good thing!
@@GrobbenFamily I think the Dutch have an extensive driving school, like we do in the Nordics and you have to pass tests etc. too. As you already mentioned, housing is an issue in NL, but therefore the timespan of someone renting a single house is probably a lot longer then in the US (esp on social housing which is the most common sort of housing here other then buying an house). So I guess that's one of the main reasons why our houses come with no floors and I think it's a lot nicer to choose your own floor rather then having to live in a house for a longer period of time with a floor that might not be of your taste at all. Same goes for closets; some people prefer a huge wall closet, others not so much, in the end you simply get to choose your own floors and furnuture to make the house really your own.

Tipping might not be mandatory, if people tip there are some unwritten rules. Tip according to your bill for example. Don't be a cheapskate and tip 2 euro on a 998 euro bill. People working in bars often are students trying to make some extra money, although they don't "work for tips", most of them can really use it ;) Study miight not be as expensive as in the States, it is still fairly expensive compared to other European countries. But nobody here expects "20% of the bill" As for them not helicoptering like a soccermom around you... thank jobe for that. Yes, you call for them here. That is not because the "donn't work for tips" but because they don't need to "flip tables". If you go out for dinner and drinks you can take all the time you want. I would feel highly unconfortable with the US way of working. "everyone smokes": factually wrong, it is about 18% of the population. That is about 3% more than in America. The only places where you are allowed to smoke basically is your own home and outside. So I don't know why you would even make that claim.
