      @@theandrewkchannel34 I think the reason it doesn't work for some people is because you have to take it 3 times a day for several weeks. Getting someone to take something once a day for several weeks straight is hard enough. 3 times a day consistently is not easy for most of us slackers :p

      @@punchout2418 That's a good point. But also some people just experience too many side effects or it does little for them in the short term. SJW is a slow burn, long term medicine. Takes months to fully get in the system. Some people are unwilling or unable to wait that long. And for those with severe mood issues or anxiety, it may feel like its not working at all. Some people really get their hopes up and end up disappointed. You gotta know what to expect before jumping in.

    I'm a healthcare student, and I'm planning to make my own refined herbal tinctures at home for family and friends. From the studies I've seen with St. Johns Wort, it's truly a miracle! The studies show it increases levels of serotonin similarly to anti-depressants; so much so you can't take them together due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. Truly fascinating. Nature holds the wisdom us humans lack. If we study these medicinal plants more, we might even discover newer drug classes we can replicate.

    A great video, Thankyou for sharing. I am 31 years old and suffered with anxiety and depression up and down like yourself since my early 20s, over the last 3 months I’ve been in such a dark place, every time this dip happens its tough and it’s turmoil! I’ve been taking St. John’s wort for 2 weeks and I’ve noticed a huge difference instantly, my anxiety/panic state being eased massively. The excitement that I am feeling is out of this world right now. I was experiencing a mild depression along with anxiety in the stomach. mostly related to anxious thoughts about 2 weeks ago. today I took coffee and opened a capsule with it, and then let it mix, and holy shit I gotta say it feels awesome I feel happy and content, a little jittery probably of excitement or because of the coffee, I don't know for how long this mood is going to last but since people say there is no side effects i have 0 concern. i still view it as a tool, along with my daily habits and i don't intent to abuse it but i definitely can say that this stuff really helps and is relatively cheap. What time did you take it? It isn't a good idea to take it anytime after 4pm. I did once and it was a big mistake. I was up all night like yourself. Initially I took one pill in the morning and in the early afternoon for 3 or 4 months and then cut back to 1 pill in the afternoon. That was my personal plan and your body may react differently. Also I would look into getting a lower dose SJW. Mine is 300mg.

      Once you have high Serotonin levels you don't need to take this regularly really.
      Serotonin it's a kind of virtuous circle
      In general it's very bad to keep taking ssris you can go into a coma.
      Basically almost all the anti depressants are me from sjw derived.
      So you treat sjw as an ssri not good to have serotonin syndrome

    3 weeks and 3 days in taking SJW. I feel tired a lot of the time but it seems to be balancing me out fairly well. Good mood except for the fatigue. I can see this might finally work for my anxiety/depression. Do you think the fatigue is something that’ll wear off with time? I can only handle one 350mg capsule per day with lunch. More than that I’ll get symptoms of serotonin syndrome.

    • @theandrewkchannel34
      @theandrewkchannel34  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First I will say, that is great that you are stopped drinking as a coping mechanism. Addictions are always hard to overcome. I would consult your doctor or health care professional on if St. John's wort will be best for you. Wort is a herb that only works for certain people. It has a high risk of interacting with other medications, supplements, herbs, etc. Side effects vary depending on the person. Like all mind altering substances, most side effects will peak within 2 weeks. Usually they disappear or decline. I experienced side effects into 3 months of taking it, but they were limited. Mostly restlessness or some anxiety. Do not take this at night. It is a stimulant and a relaxant. It will keep you up all night if you take it close to bed time. Always take it during the day, I would say not to take it after 6pm. It can last up to 4-6 hours in your body. If you take it regularly it will stay in your body 24/7, although once you get use to it your body rhythms will become normalized.
      I wish you all the best.

      My best advice to is start very low dosage and work your way up to a dose that you feel is working well for you. Like all mind altering medicine, it wears off over time as it becomes less effective or the body just doesn't need as much of it. You can overdose on St. Johns so I wouldn't deviate from the instructions on the bottle. If 3 times a day at 300mg is recommended on the bottle and you're taking that and it's not enough, then you should probably speak to your doctor or natural path about trying something else.

      Hey Marina, Thank you for sharing your story. I am happy to hear that St. John's wort is helping you feel better. Those are all common side effects of St. John's Wort. I know you mentioned you haven't taken anything before, but keep in mind that St. John's wort reacts to almost every mood stabilizer or anti anxiety medication. This is because if St. John's Wort is already correcting the chemical imbalance, other stimulations or depressants will make you worse. Also be careful drinking too coffee while on it as it can interact as well. I know for me, if I drink too much coffee it can actually cause me to have brain fog or stop the St. John's wort from working.
      Stick it out because everything will eventually stabilize and your side effects will go away. Everyone reacts differently. Please keep me up to date on how you are doing. :)

      I don't have any other issues that I know of, but I'm not 100% sure. I know that it can be one of the side effects (photosensitivity), and so it just piqued my interest so we'll see where it goes. I started off taking 900 mg per day, 300 three times per day, of the NOW brand. I am currently taking 600mg a day. 100mg in the morning of tincture, and 500 mg phytocap in the afternoon around 4 p.m. I get my St John's Wort through Gaia Herbs. I felt like 900 mg helped me get out of the slump that I was in, but I decided to decrease my dose to see how low I can go where it still helps me live my life.

    • @hollythomsen3359
      @hollythomsen3359 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason why I started taking St. John's Wort is because I have been on medication in the past for anxiety that was brought about by an allergic reaction to prednisone. I was able to come off that medication and be cleared for 2 years and then along my spiritual journey I decided to try psilocybin mushrooms, which reactivated my anxiety and it brought me down to a very low level where everything seemed fake and my world was outside of my reach. I thought for sure I'd be admitted 😞. Since taking St. John's Wort, as I stated previously, I have come out of that funk 🤗 I still have little spurts of anxiety, but nothing close to what I was dealing with before.
